Unearthed Skratchcast Footage. Seattle 1999-2000
Twelve years before Twitch and right around the time of the first internet bubble burst, there was a live streaming site, Skratchcast.com, where many of the PNW's DJs would congregate. We had our own shows because content was pumping out of this broadcast space 24 hours a day essentially. Honestly, it was a cool experience and I got to get to know some people who were integral parts of my life. Even ones who've been lost to time (DJ Drastik), left an indelible mark on me.
I have a lot of video from this era that I shot with my crappy JVC hi-8 camera. This is just some of the less embarrassing footage. Hope you enjoy.

Why I made WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE?!? my new photo zine
มุมมอง 100หลายเดือนก่อน
Just a little quick video to talk about my latest foray in to the creative visual media, WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE?!?. The first few issues have been out for a little while, but I never quite went into why I'm doing this in addition to DJing. Not that anyone needed answers, but hopefully this will make it make sense.
QUINCY JONES TRIBUTE - Recreating Passin me By with OG Samples & a Loop Pedal
มุมมอง 596หลายเดือนก่อน
Got the idea from my man DJ Daps 1 who posted some of Quincy Jones' well known samples on his Instagram stories. I haven't done a loop pedal video in a while, so I took a shot at recreating The Pharcyde's "Passin Me By," the meat of the sample coming from Jones' "Summer in the City," drums are from the Skull Snaps' "It's a New Day" and a little extra from Hendrix. Hope y'all dig it!

Felt like doing a quick mix of some of my favorite edits available on 45. Other than Mariah Carey, the edits were done by DJ A-L, Cutso, King Most, and Altered Tapes. This is shot vertically for Instagram. Anyway, hope you enjoy this exercise. #dj #vinyl #quickmix #allvinylmix #seattleDJ
Bargain Bin Bros Episode 1 (with @alchemix206 )

Trying out something new, @alchemix206 and I went to Silver Platters in Seattle and got one another a couple $1 records in their bargain bins. The challenge here was to make something out of some really cheap records. This is my contribution. I needed a break from Seattle and it had been a while since I was last in New York, so I went on a solo trip to check out record shops, eat vegan food, and take hella pics. There were more photos than videos, but here's the little bit that I did get. Highly recommend both Deep Cuts and A-1 Records. While there, I made a sketch of a beat using the KO II. This song, "Brooklyn Sunrise," is the imp...
Unboxing and Reviewing the classic DMC PMX-2 Pro Mixer
มุมมอง 3333 หลายเดือนก่อน
DJ technology has come an incredibly long way and one of the hallmarks of DJ mixers is the original Melos PMC-2 Pro, which the DMC (Disco Mix Club) used for their competitions until the late 90s. This is the same mixer that solidified champs and legends like Roc Raida, DJ Aladdin, the Rock Steady DJs, a truly endless list (DJ Swamp, Noize, Rob Swift). This is a piece of history that I've wanted...
Making beats on the KO II in my Brooklyn hotel room

I’m currently in NY and one of my personal challenges was to make a beat using the records I picked up whilst digging here. For my tools, I brought my sound burger and the Teenage Engineering KO II, as those would the smallest footprint for traveling. #beats #dj #samples #samplers #travel #beatmakingonthego
At the CID Block Party
มุมมอง 614 หลายเดือนก่อน
I was asked to DJ with the fine folks of the SEA Vinyl Society at Mam's Bookstore during the Chinatown-International District Block Party. This was a super awesome event and I was incredibly humbled to share the 1200s with some cool folks playing kick ass jams that spans the Asian diaspora. When describing my set, DJ Daps 1 said, "It's like if Asian Avenue was still around and made a compilatio...
A Portable Beatmaking Set Up (SP-303, KO II, PT-01)
มุมมอง 2.2K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Not the kind of video I make very often, but recently, I acquired an SP-303 and wanted to try and integrate it in my beatmaking workflow. I mainly rely on the MPC One, but the Boss SP-202 was the first sampler I ever had, so I thought to revisit the model up from early foray. This isn't about making the perfect beat, but I wanted. to experiment with the limitations. Needless to say that this is...

A Vinyl DJ Setup that Fits in a Tote Bag
I haven’t seen as many as you but my fave is Cash Money in 88. Especially his LL “callin me a sucka” routine is just the best. Honourable mention to Cuaster Swift in 89 because stepped back from 2 mixed records for about 10 seconds to dance on stage. 10 seconds away from a live mix can be disastrous but it paid off for him.
This is the best routine ever!!!!! th-cam.com/video/44F0d2CbjM0/w-d-xo.html

This is awesome footage!
Dope🎉🎉
X-Men will always be the goat DJ Team 😎🙏🏾🔇🔇🔇
Rafik and iemerge
Melos PMX-2 is the DMC og. A few mixers I'm on the hunt for is the og Gemini mx2200 made famous by Cash Money and every other east coast dj. The Vestax PMC 05 Q ltd Qbert special. And the GLI 9000 made famous by Jam Master Jay. Fun fact Melos Japan brought GLI and stated producing the 9000 as the PMX 9000. And the list goes on for me. Old school Numark, Stanton, Rane.... All the mixers I never had.
@@DjTRex08 I’ve seen the 05 Q pop up on reverb from time to time. Definitely wanna get the jazzy Jeff Gemini mixer
Good video. Thanks for sharing ur thoughts and keep doing what u do pare!
Mixologists vs Scratch Perverts…
Nice work with that timeless classic! Salute!
Thank you 💪🏽💪🏽
Ayyy lessgo. Forgot about that Jimi sample. Which means that Passin' Me By has double the connection to Seattle!
Took me right back to the 80s club scene! Newly subbed and looking forward to hearing more of your blends. Salute!
My main 2 rules for sampling on my MPC3000 and MPC4000 is: 1) nothing is off limits to sample 2) chop that sh!t into microns to get your sound! 😉 Cheers from a ‘merican living my best life in the UK. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
This was such a fun project, can't wait for the next one!
Been to SP many times in Lynnwood, never sodo. Gotta make the trip.
👍👍👍👍
There is definitely an art form to grate digging, just listen to the gems that the likes of Shadow,Premier,RZA,Dilla,Madlib have unearthed Thanks for sharing bro Love and Peace from Ireland 🇮🇪
Love the shorts so it can keep looping. Fire G!
Dope beat G!
Thank you ❤❤❤
The DMC battle mixer was the PMX-2 not the PMX-2 pro.
3 names you should have on the list 1 DJ Cheese, 2 DJ Jazzy Jeff, 3 DJ Cash Money .......Back in the day when you had to prove your skills in front of the BADDEST crowds...
I briefly tried my hand at scratch djing in the mid 80s when I got into hip hop or electro back then and although I managed to get some direct drive turntables,Technics SL1200,which cost me a small fortune back then but the mixer although somewhat basic I was using was a Gli and I can always remember the stickers that came in the box which read “I rely on Gli”,thanks for sharing Love and peace from Ireland
I might have to hunt for that brand next!
I’m not to sure mate but I think DJ Cheese used this brand of mixer when he won the DMC Championship in 1986,who coincidentally was the first scratch hip hop DJ I saw at the Town & Country Club in London in either 85 or 86 with his MC’s Word Of Mouth, hard to believe he won the DMC with 3 turntables, just records,no stems,no laptop,no serato etc etc, don’t even think he was really beat matching then either, anyway if you do happen to find one it’ll be interesting to see what you make of it not just that I think they are hard to find aswell
Dope find!
Brooklyn beats! ❤
Sounds cool!
Appreciate the video. Most peeps havent covered the battery issue just finding that out now. Trying this small portable dj hercules to see if i even like djing
Damn every1 sleeps on A Trak, the guy is the boss.. I guess being a jew doesn't help.. a trak was the shit....
Dope little beat machine!
I emerge holds more tittles then any other Deejay. 35 in 3 years
I can't believe that you don't mention one of the best,DJ Topspeed.
Man, if someone is leaving hate comments or doesnt like what youve made, fuck em. Never doubt yourself no matter what people say
Giant steps !
Best ever DJ in the world. DJ Destruction UK 👌🏼💪🏼🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Those lion dancers at the end were dope!
I really like the samples you chose. Would you recommend the SP-303 to someone? I bought an MPCX a while back and I'm still learning it.
Thanks! If you're still getting comfortable with the MPCX, I would either stick with that or look at the 404 series. The 303 is something I got because my first sampler was the 202 and it's a beefier version of that. Personally, I think the 404 pairs better with the MPC series and I think they would compliment each other well, but that's just me. Ultimately, it comes down to your comfort level and also how you want to utilize each machine.

Reloop Spin or Stanton stx
@@philosophy4242 they’re both pretty good. You could do less mods with the STX. It’s great out of the box but 12” records don’t clear it, so if you’re also looking for a portable you can dig with, the STX is a no go.
@@RyanFreshhh I got the Reloop spin
I love tape trading I’m too young to be around when the tape was the go to format but I still love it and all physical media. I’m not part of a huge tape trading Sean or anything but me and my friends and some people that have tape players trade around punk and metal tapes.
insane this has only 3 digit views. heads be sleepin
