Let me guess, someone told you that years ago and now you repeat it?? Absolutely not true. Your kerf is filled in with sawdust on a bandmill eliminating any binding on the blade. I own a wm1000 and I use this method daily with zero issue.

The kerf of the tooth set in the blade keeps the weight off the blade. This is an acceptable practice of any bandmill.

@@chrissheathewoodguy unbeknownst to a lot of people, but I had friends that worked for Remington under the forearm is the gas chamber to cycle the bolt. There is a small hole in the barrel to pass the gas to the chamber. The hole gets plugged up with copper from the bullet and the bolt won't cycle as it should causing the shell not to eject. Keep the hole clean and Wala!

@@Twobrothersoutdoors the frames were the issue. they were know for wearing out the guide rails inside. the bolt would rock back and forth leaving bad spot that the bolt would jame on. had quite a few of them. the pump did not have that issue.

@chrissheathewoodguy yes the 7400 series had those issues. The older models were made of better steel and didn't tend to wear like that. Mine Is a 1961 742 it was like new when I bought it in 1974. Even though I've hunted with it on and off for 50 years it still has very little wear on it.
