    I have a consultation with one of your mentors, Bahman Guyuro, just across the border from me in Canada. Just a few hours drive. This sounds like exactly what happened to me after my SAN nerve got hit from a biopsy a few years ago. I am mostly recovered , but I was left with a hypertrophied scm and occipital neuralgia/splenius capitis syndrome on the right side. This is reassuring regarding the nature of my remaining pain. Thank you for your knowledge. If he thinks you are better suited I will potentially use his clinic for a diagnosis and then reach out to your clinic.

  • @ReelEC
    @ReelEC 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How do you differentiate between splenius capitis syndrome and occipital neuralgia? Can both exist simultaneously? I suspect i have compressed nerves in my lesser occipital region. Two nerve block steroid solutions worked great for the last year but my third injection exacerbated the pain dramatically. Two weeks since the injection and still in extreme pain. I'll give the injection one more week but honestly the baseline prior to the injection was more manageable.

  • @ReelEC

    Good to know! Looking to travel from Toronto.

  • @ReelEC
    @ReelEC 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had three steroid nerve blocks, a solution of celestone and marcaine in the last year. First two blocks worked like a charm for my lesser occipital pain. The third recent nerve block exacerbated my pain. Over two weeks and no pain relief yet since the third injection. I regret getting the third nerve block but it pushed me over the edge. Now I am highly suspect of a compressed nerve or nerves. Reaching out to this clinic from Canada.

    So glad i just saw your video on nerve ablation. The comments were turned off. And I was about to potentially get it. Reaching out to the clinic soon. How to differentiate between splenius capitis syndrome and occipital neuralgia? Can these conditions overlap and occur simultaneously?

  • @ReelEC
    @ReelEC 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have chronic neuralgia pain on my right side only. I suffered from an iatrogenic injury to my right SAN nerve over two years ago. I have been diagnosed by a couple of specialists with occipital neuralgia. I suspect I have splenius capitis syndrome as my pain is chronic in that area near the splenius capitis or my SCM. I know the lesser occipital nerve runs through this area and nerve blocks to the lesser occipital region have provided me relief. My third nerve block might have missed the nerve but it was a steroid nerve block (Marcaine and Celestone) and this time it caused me pain for 2 weeks and still going and didnt provide me any relief. Would I be a good candidate for a lesser occipital nerve release?

    I certainly understand what you’re saying! Essentially, no matter what you call it - it’s a migraine headache that drs or scientists have decided to categorize it by different medical terms. For purposes of describing this particular disorder, you’re 100% correct. My last diagnosis was occipital neuralgia and I’m seeing Dr. Lisa Grferer in NY this week. After 8 years of suffering from this condition, I’m ready to try surgery and for once get my life back! I don’t like the idea of going under the knife, but I’ve exhausted every conservative and non conservative treatment you can think of, and I’ve had mild improvements. However, not 100% recovery as of yet. I’m back in school studying acupuncture, and I know how to relieve my migraine and occipital nerves, but my goal is to figure out the technique that can possibly minimize this discomfort by at least 80% and gradually work towards the healing of that final stretch in order to prevent surgery. I may not have that formula today, but I’m inspired to figure it out and help many others to not experience the agony and debilitating symptoms of this condition. I completely believe in healing the body to its optimal potential if you have made the decision to heal! Do your research and find your drs whether alternative, conservative or western and all 3 combined if you will. Trust God, and work out the insurance after 😁 it’ll all work it for the goodness of those who trust in Him!

      Most often there is no need for migraine treatment as any residual headaches are mild and can be treated with over the counter medications like Tylenol. If some migraines remain, they are often treatable with drugs such as triptans, even when those medications were ineffective before surgery.

    I’ve just been diagnosed after 3 years of electrocution to my face in all 3 branches. I’m not presenting with headache at all but Trigeminal pain. Nothing was working in the end even Carbomazepine. I told the Neurologist I get the worst neck pain and sleep with ice as I can’t take it. It reduces the attacks during the night. My sternocleidomastoid muscle swells every time too. I always feel like I can’t drop my left shoulder. I’ve just had an occipital nerve block although I knew it wouldn’t work. To my surprise it’s took it away after two weeks. I can brush my teeth using my electric toothbrush and cleanse my face without attacks. The Neurologist said the Occipital nerve can be trapped and refer pain to the Trigeminal pain. I’ve never felt a pain like this as I feel every bit of the current through my face and it burns. I can’t believe it’s worked and nothing I look up shows this but headaches. I had to be different! 🍃

    I have pain in the front of my neck that started behind my head behind my ear and traveled down my neck to back of head.one side..and to my collarbone. The first neurosurgeon mentioned occipital neuralgia because I would cry when the front and of my neck muscle would spasm. He could actually see it happening. This is all one sided pain..I don’t have migraines. I also developed Allodynia later on under my neck, front of one side of neck and chest. I get a sensation that goes all the way from my occipital nerve behind my ear down my arm into my thumb. I’ve had head mris and Ct scans which show I have issues with c-3 c-4 but I get the feeling that that not really causing this. I’ve seen two neurosurgeons that are stumped. I was offered ACDF surgery if a diagnostic cortisone injection in that area gives me relief. Does this sound like I could have occipital neuralgia?
