DIY Mud Flaps - Honda Ridgeline
มุมมอง 3493 ปีที่แล้ว
My basic process for some dirt cheap mud flaps since this truck was only optioned with the front mud guards. Would have been totally free if my can of Rustoleum Leak-Seal didn’t lose pressure, but $7 for undercoating isn’t bad. A can of bedliner was probably only about $8 but my local hardware store didn’t have any and I didn’t feel like driving out to Home Depot. If it chips off, oh well. Mate...
DIY LED Rear Bumper Reflectors
มุมมอง 20K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Here’s a write-up of how I turned my bumper reflectors into LED turn signals and brake lights in 10 easy(ish) steps. Saw a few different ways to do it (linked below) and wanted to try it on my own. This is probably going to be the most basic way of making your own LED reflectors without a control module or any sort of circuitry. Tried to be as descriptive as possible, so be prepared to pause an...

    Clear Tail lights are Illegal in OHIO and pretty much every single state and province just an FYI. Also confuses drivers into thinking they are looking at headlights which is why its illegal.

    • @nateperez9399
      @nateperez9399 ปีที่แล้ว

      “Every motor vehicle […] shall be equipped with at least one tail light mounted on the rear which, when lighted, shall emit a red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet to the rear, provided that in the case of a train of vehicles only the tail light on the rearmost vehicle need be visible from the distance specified” Nothing stated about red appearance of tail light when unlit. Sounds like you didn’t bother to watch the video all the way through; the most critical part of making clears is swapping to red bulbs so you maintain red light output for running and braking. Signal and reverse remain amber and white. If anything, my rear visibility might have improved because I switched to LED which are even brighter and more vibrant than the OEM white halogen diffused through a colored lens. Don’t know how you could possibly confuse them for headlights when they’re literally red. So many cars come from the factory with clear tail lights nowadays so no its not illegal

      I think technically you could but the tails are different shapes. I believe the 12s go down lower towards the bottom of the trunkline while 13-15 flattens out so youd either need to swap bumpers or have a big gap under the 13-15 tail. But ive never seen anyone run refresh tails on a 12 without a full rear conversion

    • @nateperez9399
      @nateperez9399 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres a custom tail light video on a 2012 out there and i believe the bulbs and bowls are all exposed (vs that secondary C-bar lens structure here on the 13-15). But since there are no clear lenses, oem nor aftermarket, to my knowledge for 12s the lens would have to be custom made

      They dont make standalone clear lenses for sedans but they do for coupes. Otherwise you have no choice but to either buy eagle eyes to cut up or make your own lenses via vacuum form or resin mold or whatever works

    • @nateperez9399
      @nateperez9399 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it sucks how the red doesnt really fill the bar when its really bright out since its still just a reflector bowl. but honestly from directly behind for the most part it looks pretty much oem and you cant even tell its clear until you look from the side. Im already thinking about a full LED retrofit with sequentials and stuff once i learn how

    nice! question and suggestion: in your description, you should describe what wires are connected where...and how you got the turn signal to control the lower strip of LED while you got the upper strip controlled by brake but you got both up and lower to blink with the turn signal.

    • @nateperez9399
      @nateperez9399 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it probably looks like both strips are powered by the signal at the end but it's just that the strips are pretty close together and in the same housing. so when the signal strip is illuminated the entire housing lights up (if that answers your question). It would have been nicer to do something that better separated the two functions (e.g. side-by-side instead of top and bottom) but space was limited and I wasn't too concerned about it

    How did you connect the wheel to the axle?

    • @nateperez9399
      @nateperez9399 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The axle was just a threaded rod with a hollow rod slid over it with just enough room on the ends to screw nuts and washers on. PVC larger than the holes drilled in the wheels was placed in between the wheels to keep them from sliding inward. Didn't bother to put in bearings or anything haha
