David Fincher telephone interview with Michael Goldman for 'millimeter' magazine / August 2006
That's the Viper Room they walked into. I don't know if it was still called The Central at the time, but that's JD's stomping grounds.
Maravilloso 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I can’t believe I haven’t seen this video version before’ True Anton Corbijn fashion. The band dressed as women, priceless❤
@@cressunsmile1 yea, it is relatively rare. It seems that this is the first cut that Anton signed off on, and presented to the band. But just as it was set to be provided to outlets, U2, or ‘The Politburo’ as Larry calls them {a vague mix of certain band members, Paul McG and mgmt. heads at Principle?} balked at the juxtaposition of the ‘drag’ elements in the promotional film with the proceeds from the single {which in 1992, with the 3rd release off an LP, would have been minimal, truly} going to HIV/AIDS charities. And thus the first Final Cut of “one” was pulled. After a few months, hearts & minds changed, and smarter heads prevailed and an Anton Corbijn film for “one” was quietly provided to broadcasters, for minimal rotation & airplay given the single was out of date and in fact a 4th single was now in rotation! However this film was a different edit from the variant that had been primed for release back in March of ‘92. The edits were puzzlingly slight but nonetheless significant in the overall feel of the film. It featured less drag and less dad; the band members cross dressing & Bob Hewson, father to Bono. This version was finally released on a compilation DVD in 2005, which compiled the best of Anton’s music video work. It appears to have not have been widely circulated on TH-cam however. I have, however, removed all traces of a sepia patina from the film. And instead prioritised pure B&W patina. Purely a personal taste, but i cannot abide sepia in any form. i feel that THIS variant of the promotional film for “one” is the truest, finest version that there is. It just feels like the perfect embodiment of the song. Anton once said that this was, to that point in his artistic career, the best video He’d worked on, and the video that He had put the most amount of concerted efforts into. It is immaculate 🖤🤍
I'm me and Ousmane como dos en uno

Johnny depp in his hood before super fame
What Americans lead the way? It started with Jack the Ripper and that other chick who was also a serial killer I think was there. But there were a ton of other serial killers in the uk. It’s just an extremely tiny nation so of course there won’t be as many. Also possibly the most prolific serial killer of all time was British Harold shipmen, and Lucy Letby was just caught in the uk for killing seven infants. I mean come on, I know British people always want to slam Americans but make it make sense at least for once.
This should ve go on forever
In my eyes JD has a sweet, gorgeous softly intelligent way about him. Tactful, diplomatic, cautious, street wise and all round very personable to the people he encounters....
Chuck E Weiss and Johnny owned the Viper Room
johnny through down his money but put his smoke in his mouth while helping that guy 10:16 hahahaha love you johnny
Well even if that bum bit was scripted you still can't tell me that if he saw a medical emergency and didn't know that manuver he'd still call 911 and be a decent person
Wow a young Dennis leary looks like a live action Beavis..and johnny just as handsome as ever
I'm years late to say this, but thank you for uploading this interview in its entirety. It was removed from that one website years ago.
You’re very welcome. ı was doing it as much for myself as anything, to give ease of access to this cool interview finally. After ı realised it had disappeared from the ether, ı knew ı had it somewhere deep on a hard drive. So went hunting and hit gold!
Johnny never fails to make me smile. He's such a joy to watch & so humbling in his approach to life. ❤ If all men were like him the divorce rate would probably be practically zero 🤦♀️😊. Except for those women who can't appreciate someone who is punctually deficient. 😅♥️
Johnny is so soft spoken. Such a cutie
He has a star on hollywood boulevard .
Jim Belushi he was great in. The movie "k-9''
I used to watch the Manson tapes and was very interested in the psychology of criminality aswell as Jefferey dahmer
Dennis Leary is too funny I loved the "ref"
I was 15 years old when this happened I would've went with them anyway😯🤔😊
Sweet, absurd Johnny Depp...
Thanks Johnny🦋♥️for the conversation n for saving the man from choking to death😊♥️. Thank You for sharing.
Only $5.00!! Those were the days! And the 80’s. N 70’s . I was there. N the 60’s. N OH! How we complained. When I got old enough anyway. But you can still be Grateful n Thankful for what we have today even in the struggle.
Thanks for the tour😄♥️. Hey, it might’ve been in the 90’s, I’ve never been to Hollywood or even Cali. But to travel back in time with Johnny☺️♥️n his host…it’s a Blessing💥♥️. Thank You Again for sharing❣️
Omg the part at the end? Was that staged or real? Because if that wasn’t staged Jonny depp deserves a medal.. wow lol omg.. tho ??
Such a simple man my Johnny 😍❤️
Ross wanted drugs
A nice video. Don't think I would have shaken a mans hand after he just took a leak:)

😂😂😂you must have felt funny driving around doing an interview ❤❤❤❤Nj
i love you ❤hanson
I forget how long Dennis Leary has been around
Johnny Ross's reaction was so weird to that man needing help....
I saw this at the time. I 'videoed' it and watched it again and again because he was just such a cool guy. Here I am again, more than thirty years later, looking it up on TH-cam.
í kept thinking surely someone else has this and will upload it? It was such a cool idea for a TV show in those days, and í knew at the time it was a special thing. 30 {!} years on, it's even more so, with the added element of capturing an era & place long gone {that Sunset block is set to be torn down for some hideous apartments}. Sadly, í never thought to tape it at the time of broadcast, and always regretted it as my admiration for Johnny Depp grew. A year or so after the show í was desperate to see it again and to see if it was as good as í remembered. í wrote a LETTER! to Channel X, Ross' then production company, requesting a VHS copy. To my surprise & delight a video tape cassette arrived a month or so later. Not as great quality as í'd expected {it had been rush recorded over a 1990 Ross doc on David Lynch!} but at least í posessed it. FFWD 27 years to Covid Lockdown #1, alone in the house, í finally get around to digitising the tape, and seeing as how the 21st century Google World seems barely even aware of this JD '90s TV gold, let alone able to screen a copy, í felt my Depp duty to shove it online...
Johnny not only helped that homeless man with money but saved his life…..so much respect for Johnny ♥️♥️
A nice digression with Johnny Depp
Johnny really ruled this place , once upon a time! He was such a sweetheart!
he looks like kurt cobain here
I ABSOLUTELY 💯 ♥️ #johnnydepp

Wow you tube wins again. I haven’t seen this since the early 90s.
