3 Horses in Space
Welcome to a breathtaking #cinematic #astrophotography experience where we explore three magnificent horse-shaped #nebulae, each with its own unique beauty and astronomical significance. This video will take you on a visual adventure through the cosmos, highlighting the enigmatic Black Horse Nebula, the ethereal Blue Horsehead, and the iconic #horsehead Nebula in the #Orion constellation.
1. The Black Horse Nebula 🖤🌠
Located near the center of our Milky Way galaxy, the Black Horse Nebula is a dark nebula, a dense cloud of gas and dust that obscures the light from stars behind it. Its silhouette against the brighter background creates a stunning image reminiscent of a horse in mid-gallop. This nebula provides astronomers with a fascinating study of star formation and the interstellar medium.
Technical Details:
Type: Dark Nebula
Location: Near the Galactic Center
Composition: Dense clouds of gas and dust
Significance: Blocks starlight, aiding in the study of interstellar medium
2. The Blue Horsehead 🌌🔵
The Blue Horsehead Nebula, also known as IC 4592, is an enchanting reflection nebula. Its striking blue color is due to the scattering of starlight by fine dust particles. This nebula's distinctive horsehead shape is a captivating feature in the constellation of Scorpius, adding to the galaxy's rich tapestry of cosmic art.
Technical Details:
Type: Reflection Nebula
Location: Constellation Scorpius
Color: Blue, due to scattering of starlight
Significance: Reflects and scatters light, enhancing our understanding of nebular composition
3. The Horsehead Nebula 🌟🐴
Perhaps the most famous of the three, the Horsehead Nebula is part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. Found in the constellation Orion, this dark nebula stands out against the bright emission nebula IC 434. Its iconic horsehead shape has made it a favorite among astronomers and stargazers alike, symbolizing the grandeur and mystery of the universe.
Technical Details:
Type: Dark Nebula within an Emission Nebula
Location: Constellation Orion
Associated Nebula: IC 434
Significance: Iconic shape, aids in the study of star formation and interstellar matter

Explore the Rho Ophiuchi Cloud
มุมมอง 7493 หลายเดือนก่อน
The beauty of the #Rho #Ophiuchi cloud lies in its vivid colors and contrasts. The cloud's most striking feature is the array of dark, inky regions where the dust is so dense that it blocks the light from stars behind it. These dark patches are complemented by the brilliant blue, yellow and red hues of reflection nebulae, where starlight is scattered by the dust particles. This creates a glowin...

      The Redcat 51 is an amazing scope. To check if the Canon EOS 80D is a good pair I would suggest go to astrobin.com and find images of people using this combo. Unfortunately I believe the search by equipment is only available to paid membership. Most important thing is to do your sessions in a very dark skies.

    Great video! But I have a question about the colors. Can your telescope actually capture colors of nebulas or is it a computer effect? I understand that human eye can't see those colors even through telescope.

    • @lookspacethings
      @lookspacethings 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! You are right that the human eye can't see the colors of a nebula even with poweful telescopes. What happens is that the human eyes has a shutter speed of 1/50 of a second. With my camera and mount I can take a long exposure of 300s, following precisely the object to avoid blur. The colors are there in every single exposure. Then, during several nights I capture hundreds of photos and use a technique called stacking to improve the signal to noise ratio. It is true however that during post processing we can enhance the colors via software. In my case I used a specific astrophography software called Pixinsight where one of the features is to make sure that the colors are scientific correct.

    Really nice pics, I have the same camera and scope although a Ioptron Skyguider pro, I have not used it for about 2 yrs as I got a bit frustrated setting it up, I have the ASI AIR PRO which helps but finding the targets is another thing, I managed to get Orion Nebula, Pleiades and the green comet 2022? , I am trying to save up for the AM5. The thing that confuses me is that everyone seems to take nice shots with the Redcat51 and the 294MC Pro but when you put he figures in the Astronomy setup calculator and simulator I get significant undersampling. Aperture 51.02mm /2.01 inches Maximum Magnification :102.04x Resolving Limit (Dawes): :2.2736" arcseconds Resolving Limit (Rayleigh): :2.7048" arcseconds Visual Magnitude Limit: : mag 11 Native Focal Length / F: 250mm / F4.9 5x Rule (Ideal Planetary F-Ratio): F23.2 7x Rule (Ideal Planetary F-Ratio): F32.4 Ideal Resolution : 0.67" - 2" arcseconds Resolution 3.8200" arcseconds per pixel Sampling Significant Undersampling ⚠⚠⚠ Camera Chip FOV 4.40° x 2.99° It is definitely a big learning curve

    • @lookspacethings
      @lookspacethings 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! Well, I am not sure you why you got frustrated, problems with the mount? AM5 is on my buying list but I think the AM3 is sufficient for the Redcat 51 and less expensive. Regarding the undersampling, I guess you are using the astronomy tool CCD suitability. It seems that any ZWO camera will give undersample result. To be honest, I think the quality of the sky is much more important. I travel 1h30 every session for a bortle 3. If you use Pixinsight to post-process, you can use drizzle in the WBPP to improve the detail results of a undersample image. Just make sure you are dithering during aquisition. For me 1x drizzle better than 2x. Clear skies!

    • @BungalowBill58
      @BungalowBill58 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the reply, I am future proofing just in case I get a bigger scope , with the mount it is not a goto mount, my fault for jumping in I suppose , anyway it takes a bit of practice to get to your object, I retire next year so I will have more time on my hands and be able to concentrate more. At the moment it is cloudy and raining here. I live in a country city, so they keep adding more sub divisions, I am about a 2hr drive from the Parkes radio telescope in Australia and plenty of dark spitd. Clear skies.

I have tried 3 locations so far which depends on any clouds that are forecast.
