As the post fire work continues, I removed the starter and contact point, cleaned the connections as well the internals. A bench test of the start yield favorable results. After the starter was reinstalled and connections made, it worked! I then made several attempts at starting the engine and then started to focus on the timing. I checked and rechecked and found that a lot of adjustment was ne...

Coleman Vertex 7500 Generator The armature bolt had partially vibrated loose from the crankshaft and snapped off! Why? This video shows the process I had used to make the repair and try and investigate why this happened. Do you have any ideas? Of note, upon reassembly, I used blue LockTite on the new armature bolt.

GM 5.7 TBI rough idle and stalls out when put in gear...FIXED !
มุมมอง 44K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a follow-up video to my question about the GM 5.7 TBI stalling out when put into drive or reverse gear as well as stalling at idle and or sever hesitation with RPM's dropping. The problem was a severly corroded distributor cap and rotor. The contact plunger and spring inside the cap were nothing more than metalic dust and all of the other contacts were heavily damaged from poor upkeep. ...

Super nice collectable. To bad international didn't use the Kohler in that model. I like how the Kohler sounds over a Briggs
Thank you, I agree. I'm sure it was a cosy saver, most likely.
Is there such thing as too many extra grounds? Or can I add more
I don't think there can be too many...the original body to frame had at least four I belive.
It’s so annoying that this happens but I put in a brand new temp sensor, had the idle issue, ended up finding a used temp sensor put it on, and my idle was fine
My issue turned out to be a very worn cap and rotor,
Can you help me please I need help
My suggestion, first look at replacing the distributor cap and rotor. That was the main issue with mine for shutting off. Secondly, check all the ground cables from the body to the frame. Most likely you will need to replace the one that runs from the firewall to the frame and from the frame to the back side of the transmission housing. I had went dow nthe road of changoing out varous sensors, as thoese things seemed likely causes, but in the end, it was the cap and rotor.
My truck shuts off when going to 2nd gear.dwill run all day in Park
I'm sorry, that issue, I can not think of a solution to at the moment.
Ugggg! Gotta do this too..... 😶
Very cool!
I replaced those then started having this stalling issue. 😅
Dang...that stinks. Did you check the cap or rotor too ?
Excellent video - well done and thank you!
Thank you.
Exact same issue I have with my 94 K1500.. the ground wire that connects behind the engine ripped.. I can't even locate or reach that bolt.. I'm just going to do what you did here
I had found one video on TH-cam of a guy who changed out the OEM ground wires and followed the same path. He ended up using a combination of varous socket extentions and universals to reach it, and he even said about what a pain and time consuming job it was, as it all had ot be done by feel. While I would have prefered the OEM way everything was connected, I also know my luck, so I went for the path of least resistance and ease on this one. I hope this was helpful and it works on your vehicle.
I have a 1990 suburban, sometimes starts and runs fine but other times it refuses to idle at all unless your foot is on the throttle
So, its been 2 years, did you find an answer for it stalling when you put it in gear??? do you have an update>
In my case, there were two issues...first was the secondary ground wire, which i did cover in another video, but its the ground that runs from the firewall to the frame and then from the frame, through the wire loom at the starter and then on to the back side of the bellhousing. The other issue, and biggest contributor to the problem was a bad distrubutor cap and rotor of all things. The button in the center of the cap was badly worn and almost powder! We replaced the cap and rotor and that solved the problem! Very stange, but that was it. Since this vehicle was used when we got it, there were a lot of probmes we were chasing down. Thank you for the comment and interest.
@@duginvirginia5737 i will check my grounds. my truck has not left the yard in 3 years. it dies when you put it into any gear or when activate the tommy lift causing a load. every mechanic I know have no answers. the alternator voltages seem fine, I have replaced every sensor under the hood, cap and rotor, fuel pump and filter and still no change. i also had the head gasket replaced for a small leak off cyl5 .$1600 later it still dies. anyone else out there have an overlooked possibility???
great workaround im doing this on my 92 silvarado with 4awg wire because I replaced the generator with a high amp alternator and the old straps are bad
glad to see you got it running; I just Lifted your ban, from using the choke...🤣 normally; a model a, should need only 1 quick pull, then let it go.
please never push downward on the hand crank...broken wrist, always insert your hand crank at 7: o'clock, and pull upward. Enjoying your videos, and persistence. 😀
Guess this set-up would work on my 99 Chevy Tahoe 5.7v8
That what I'm wondering
Did it work for u
Any chance you have an extra air washer elbow?

Thanks for the video, I have a 1923 Fordson myself. You should mention that it’s important to run the proper oil in the rear as there are brass parts in there. Also I believe Mobile 600w steam cylinder oil is ISO 460 which is around SAE 140, technically not 600 weight although it sure takes a long time to fill!
Hopefully you still have the fenders. They are extremely expensive.
That is sure a souped up Fordson ,Awesome piece to have ! Great job .
Thank you. We are eager to get started working on this to get it running.
Nice video and interesting version of the Fordson.
Thank you.
You need to remove the water neck bolts. Fill the cylinders with rope and rotate the engine and it will come right off.
Thank you. Very intersing trick!

Ok😮
Limpien la tierra que va del chassis a un tornillo debajo de las mangueras de calefaccion. Y la tierra del chassis al monoblock donde conecta la transmision.
Thank you.
Were did you get new fuel tank
That is actually an original tank. I had cleaned and lined it. I did paint it to keep it form rusting. I know the color isn't correct, but I wanted to preseve it until I can properly paint the entire tractor. You can purchase reproduction tanks from The Fordson House, however, they are expensive and not 100% accurate for what you pay, IMO.
Thanks buddy. That's tomorrow's project, unfortunately...lol. 👍
Your oil pressure is higher than normal. Do you have the rigth grade of oil?
Hello, I do not know what grade of oil was in this truck, nor how old it was. We changed the oil with the recomended weight as well as a new filter and the oil pressure maintains around 60 psi now.
Jesus fuck that oil pressure is a bit high bus
i changed cap & rotor, plugs and wires but when start sometimes stalls or shift into gear try's to stall but not as bad now i fix that stuff but something else still try to make my 5.7L vortec 98 tahoe stall but like i said is much better doesnt take me 7 trys to start the truck
Double check the ground wire that goes from the fire wall to frame to back side of the transmission. It's the ground wire contained in the loom of wires that goes to the starter. Another person suggested changing out the EGR valve, I had tested mine and it appeared ot test ok. But, I did replace the ground wire as mentioned.
I have a better solution: don’t buy a Chevy 😂😂😂
Thank goodness it's a GMC ! 🙂 Ha !
Egr valve
Thank you. I had pulled the EGR valve and ran a test on it and appeared to test OK / work. Do you suggest a replacement anyways? ...Possiblely weak or slow to react?
My truck died on me I lost everything I have battery power but nothing else
Same
My 94 randomly dies, doesn’t matter if it’s idling or in park or going highway speeds. It’s very concerning.
From my experience these 350 tbis are in the top 10 worst engines go ever made, you cannot get them to run right,if you do your lucky,no matter what you do you’ll still be throwing money at them, only way to go is vortec 350 or 5.3 or ANYTHING LS
@@lamborgatti-4783 mines been running fine no more dying. I did forget to mention it sat for a few months because I had a bad tire I hadn’t addressed and I think the battery was weak. I’ve had my truck for over two years and it has 213k miles and has never acted up just this one time. I’ve known of other plenty tbi engines that went over 200 and 300k miles with pretty much only maintenance work. I have to disagree. Yes it’s old technology but it works. Very easy to work on and cheap. With tbi its either no spark or no fuel if you have problems.
I am dealing with that now in my 99 Yukon. They are not lying when that ground behind the engine block is hard to get to.. I am just going to do what u did. That looks like a good work around! Thanks!!😊
You're most welcome. That ground strap was too difficult for me to fool with, through, Id like to have replaced it like OEM, I felt this was a good option. Hope it helps on your truck.
I have a 99 as well , what are the symtoms u were having ?
Just subbed great video
Thank you.
Verry Nice stund from the motor.Good luck wid the old traktor from Jörgen in Sweden.
Thank you !
What an amazing pick!!
Thank you! This was a lot of work due to moving everything out of the way. I kind of through they would have done that laready, but...once we removed all of the small equipment, the large cab we were moving out of the way was from a Model T truck, and the flat bed leaning up against the right side of the shet was the bed to that Model T truck. Also, in the one still shot, you see me infront of a barrel thats on a frame. It was a cut up and repurposed Model T frame turned into a 55 gallon drum barrel holder! A lot of neat things there, pluss the sinking floor!
Enjoy the ride. More on this project in the weeks to come. Thank you.
I have a 92 Chevy manual idles fine when put in gear idle drops to 0 but still runs can’t figure this out new cap wires plugs any thoughts
do not ground the it if hooked up to a house. the house is grounded already

Thank you, actually, it was stock music off Apple iMovie.
What cartridges do I need for a tbi for the snap on mt2500?
Looks like your fuel gauge is starting to leak. Mine failed when i needed it most. You may want to replace that before it fails completely.
