SUPER EASY sampling technique (GOLD PANDA/LONE type beat from scratch)
มุมมอง 402ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I make a beat from scratch using a super easy method to repeat samples in 1/16th notes to make a nice rythm with micro chopped samples. This style is used by many musicians and a few examples are Gold Panda and LONE. I also use the AIR Flavour pro effect for some lo-fi flutter and the built in drummachine that comes with the recent MPC update.

This video didn't show anything. How do i make a j card?
This is the easiest to use samplers ever made easy to learn easy to out grow perfect for djs not so much for dnb but hip hop n house it’s great
How do you get laminated J cards?
hmmm. i disagree. this sampler is crazy experimental. its one of the top 5 in its catagory. i am of coarse making this all up..but its great. thanks
I love my Toraiz Sp-16 and have created full tracks on the unit. I love the sound better then my MPC live 2 all I create on this unit is experimentation 🎵 music you really need to spend more time with it. Thx for taking out the time to give your opinion.
What is the complete name on this sample pack.?
The AD/DA of this is way better than the new Mpc, the Mpc is a glorified midi controller, you can’t compare it to this unit, just run some test tons in both machine then you will hear the difference,
Selling mix tape will be illegal ?
"how yo make your own cassette tapes" *never explains how to actually put the music on the cassettes*
You put the cassete onto a cassete player, you plug an aux cord into your cassete player (microphone port) and youre phone and press REC and PLAY at the same time. You wait 5 seconds and play the song from youre phone.when its done playing you press STOP and listen
@Smorkynosetz54 ain't nobody's phone got an aux port no more bruh. I was just gonna make mixtapes of my favourite 60s-80s rock songs anyway, I'll just scour the internet and any analog music shops & thrift shops for the albums I like the most, just didn't want to pay $25+ including shipping for the rarer or more popular ones like wheels of fire or led zeppelin iv and figured it might be cheaper in the long run to do this. thanks anyway!
@ That also works, you can use a laptop or a PC,they’ll probably have a port if they’re not from those new gaming PC-s
@@Smorkynosetz54 damn I didn't even think to use a laptop lmao thanks!
This sucks in every possible way. Do not do this if you don’t want your tape player damaged. And the so-called lOw FiDeLiTy of the cassettes is usually mentioned when the person doesn’t know how or doesn’t want to record cassettes properly, as the cassette is designed as high fidelity media.
This is cool cut out the man
you love the low fidelty of them because you choosed probably the worst cassette available. if you order from a duplicate factory you will get much higher quality for a lower price then those. recording the final tapes on a 4 track is a very bad solution too. tapes on those decks were never supposed to be played on other cassette decks. for example you buy some maxell ur tapes which are still cheap and produced and record them on a quality deck you will have hifi sound not lofi. though those duplicating services start at 50 units and the recording service is very cheap. you will get a high quality type 1 tape with audio and the correct length for about 2 euros.
For those wondering about printing: I printed my design on standard 8.5" X 11" (letter) size cardstock, using an ink jet printer. I set my print size setting to 4" X 6". Using this size setting, the fold out j-card was slightly too long, so I cropped down to the proper aspect ratio before printing. The standard j-card should not require alteration. As a finishing touch, before cutting out my now printed j-card, I waxed the cardstock to add a semigloss finish. To do this, I transferred some wax to a clean rag by rubbing it against a candle. I put my cardstock on a hard surface and rubbed the rag over the surface in different directions, until I was satisfied with the level of finish on the cardstock. It might sound silly to wax a j-card, but it really lends a clean, professional look. It should even be slightly water resistant, (only slightly, mind you).
Wsy outta my price range im an mpc user and circuit rhythm this thing seems badass but far to dear
MPC is better I own both
How Do I Make A Proper Cassette On My IOS 17/18?
I love this machine. If midi worked a bit better then it would be perfect but I still love it
I'm sincerely impressed-fantastic job!🦁🦁
Amazing video, just picked up my sp16 last week. How can I save my strip parameter settings? so that when I pull up a new session all of my saved parameter will be there Thx 🙏
It should save them when you save the project. If you mean automating, I think it will record the touch if you're in record mode. (It doesn't record knob movements though unfortunately.)
Do you order cassettes from China? Can you recommend, where to buy them?
Ok I DONATED 3 BUCKS FOR THE FREE JCARD, What are the format choices, cause it did not work in Adobe Elements😐
Its for figma. Figma is super easy to use and free.
Figma my guy. Its free 🎉
You can probably paint cassette shells with plastic specific gloss or matte spray paint. For a crisp look, mask the raised part of the shell around the reels and centre tape window with painter's tape, and lightly use a razor or X-Acto knive around the edges for a clean look. This will give you a nice clear window and will also protect the reels. Mask the inside of the tape opening just under inside by fishing a length of paper under the little bars you coloured at 2:34 and above the tape leader. Hang the shells on some coat hanger or light wire. Use 2-3 light coats with the spray can held 30 cm/1 foot away and let the paint dry between coats. You won't need to go over them with a marker after! Then carefully peel the painter's tape off with the blade while the last coat is still wet so the paint edges will be sharp. Here though you sprayed them way too close, with a way too heavy a coat. You can see the cracking of the overly thick paint at 2:30. The mechanism and reels were also not protected and the tape itself can't be seen in the center window. The tape getting between the reels and the shell could seize them up. There is over spray on the tape leader and which will 100% gum up the playback deck as the paint spatter gets pressed into the pinch rollers, stuck to the capstans and dragged over the playback head. Otherwise , your tapes look great and I'm happy you're keeping the format alive!
If tape shells of the desired colour can't be obtained from the get go of course.
This is like watching the cave man when he was tryin to come up fire
meow
Bro it’s a drum machine that can load samples and sample. What more do you want from it?
I've had it for two years and I still can't make friends with it at all
I don’t understand the sequencer part i can’t wrap my head around it MPC is better
i love this
I've been playing with him for over a year. Perfect! I don't need better than that. 😉👌
Most slept on and misunderstood piece of gear ever made. Can make entire sets on this. I've played many shows and ended up opening for some cool people all off what I had done on this machine. If you get hands on with it, it is extremely capable although like anything else you will need a side piece like a dfam or a modular that you actually know how to use in order to build transitions n whatnot.
One thing you don’t talk about is the sound quality which if you are producer who actually makes tracks then this kills the MPC. All you need to do is run test tones on the MPC and you will see what a garage converter it is. The way to deal with that is to do controller mode with MPC and bypass the converter
MPC can do more than 60 second sampling
How did you size down your template before printing?
You can just measure the dimensions of your average j-card, convert that to pixel units, and just scale it to those numbers
Now this beat is Dope i likes this one here😊🤟💯
I feel like a reverb knob would go well next to the filters & drive knobs. Also a 'cut' button to instantly bypass all of them (for when you're returning to main groove at a drop)
Makes me want a Pioneer RMX 1000 or 500.
You dont know jack about Dj ing
The SP-16 has been the centerpiece of my production studio and live performances since its release in 2017. It completely changed how I produce music for the better. There is a long list of things I dislike about it but they are far outweighed by the intuitive and "fun" workflow. I spend weeks/months in the studio creating content to feed in to the SP-16 and with enough preparation I can perform an entire set of my original music in a way that most people on the dancefloor would not be able to tell it wasn't a DJ set if they didn't see the table full of hardware I am using to perform. Definitely a highly misunderstood and slept on piece of production gear. I bought two so I can leave one hooked up in the studio and use the 2nd for shows and portability. Cold dead hands piece of kit, for sure.
You can really do any kind of music on the sp16. Even strange measures. Also you can record live instruments or synths. If you cannot produce music with the sp16 then you have things to learn. Love this machine, get away from the daw, work on ideas, tracks or live sets. Work on the music without distraction
This is hard yo
huuuge!!!
Great Machine in the right hands… Sheenah Ko, Kiko Narvarro ect… have made super great music using it. I love mine and at one time used MPC’s and Sp-1200. Create and dive into making the machine work for you.
The SP-16 is the only machine I will never sell. I even plan to buy a second one in case of problem with the first
Can you find the BPM for a track?
Google is good for that
thanks!
Still have the SP16 after so many years, it's the most direct sampler, the filters are great, the slice and scale controls are great and the UI is damn quick. But it lacks that direct knob handling that real samplers have. I wish you could swap out the functions on those 6 rotary knobs, that would do a lot more for live play.
enjoyed the video! i've been using the sp16 for close to two years now, it's one of the best samplers out there! it's so, so easy to use and sounds amazing... anything you put in there that is going through those prophet filters and the compressor in the master FX is gonna come out the other end sounding spot-on. when sampling through the audio inputs, it adds a bit of weight as well. my only complaint would be the timestretch isn't really that great... but on the flipside, i've never heard any other timestretch that sounds like it... so even that has character! i wish it had the hot slice feature like the DJS 1000 :( toraiz was a single firmware update from perfection.
wish DJS 1000 has more outputs, two fx engines, arrangements.. thinking of selling mine and getting the Toriaz
Does spray paint damage the cassettes?
That depends. I myself wouldn't ever paint cassettes. While covering the sides may protect the tape (at least some what) from the paint splatters, there is a possibility of the paint seeping into the tapes housing. The paint can affect the playback mechanism. These kind of modifications can affect the longevity of the tape. It's best to be cautious.
You can buy empty cassettes that are already black, so you've no need to spray paint them. Empty cassettes also come in different colors. If you're recording on tapes that already have music (albums etc.), they come in varying colors, such as turquoise, red, blue and pink. It really depends on the tape you use.
But in the end, you don't even see the cassette while it's in the deck/Walkman, so I wouldn't see any reason to paint them. I'd rather pay attention to the tape quality. 👍
If Akai MPC live and Roland tr8 having a baby It look exactly like this
MPC is better
The problem with this unit is Pioneer doing Pioneer (price tag expensive) for what's a glorified Remix deck/maschine competitor with lots of amazing capabilities but wrongly marketed... This is what Roland should have release instead MV1 or SP404mk3 but Roland doing Roland (releasing things without knowing their user market) made this strange multiverse world where this unit has better Variphrase like functions and better Djing oriented tools that anything release by Roland... special mention for Yamaha SU900 too...
Pioneer already abandoned this unit
I need to made my own cassette tapes. This shit come back again. Great video!
Sadly, an abandoned piece of underdeveloped gear (by Pioneer) with no updates since 2019 with loads of potential still left in it. The release of the MPC Live obliterated the Toraiz's future sales. The Toraiz is limited in functionality but sounds way fatter and fuller than the Akai MPC.
I have both i would just use the MPC
Hello! Any chance you know if you can make your own cassette tapes off of a CD/Cassette boombox player? I’m dying to know and I can’t find any information online, whatsoever. My boombox has all the buttons you would find on a regular cassette recorder and an ‘audio in’ spot.
you should be able to as far as I know, whether you’re recording the songs from a cd or an external device via an aux cord (or bluetooth if it has it) as long as you press record and play first, it should work (I’ve never personally recorded like this but I have family members who used to record their mixtapes like this)
