i liked the design, but construction on these is really not good. size 6 torx for the pivot and loktide is a bad idea. i took out the spring then it closes better. i dont like assisted, thats why. also way to much little springs and things inside of the knife, makes dissasembly very hard, that locking lever isa separat thing to the lock and has a spring on each side. dont take it apart 😉

Midgards Messer has several with over 5" blade, and I have them all. I only have the Rajah I and the original Espada XL in micarta from CS, since I only collect 5"+ blades that are high end. I am looking for a Maxon Vortex in Timascus (sold out), but they have other, less expensive versions of this 5" knife. Except for certain CS, Maxon, and Midgards MMesser, I don't know of anyone who makes quality 5" plus blades. Please let me know if you find any others.

I've had this model for about 8 years now and beat on it pretty hard. Only complaint is that the liner lock has worn pretty badly and allowed it to develop a small amount of blade play. Prior to retiring from the military in 2011 I carried another variation of the M16 for several years as a back up to the Benchmade they issued to me. Quite a few people carried them on deployment because 1) they were relatively cheap and 2) they were readily available at the PX/BX. Chain saw files work pretty well for sharpening those serrations btw.

The Daggerr Vendetta is 5", the Daggerr Pelican is almost 4" and has a pocket open option on some models. But the Pelican pocket open is not very good. I got my Counter Piont XL from Midway for $44! Watch Midway for deals on CS knives. That's where I got my Spartan, AD15 and 4Max Scout too.

NEVER lend your knife out! I always carry an SR-1 tanto lite in my backpack for utility purposes. Good luck breaking the tip on that and still, if someone needs a knife, I'll do the cutting! GREAT WORK getting that tip back! Btw, be careful of that liner lock. The GSM Ti-Lites liners can fail if you do some spine taps on it. That really sucks cause before GSM, that liner lock was the "best" in the business... Tap that spine just to make sure...

It is so good , I bought 2 for the rotation. Both with snaggletooth for rapid deployment. The steel is around 59 to 60HRC . The blade is wider than normal tanto , thinner behind the edge for deeper cut. The AUS10A is only 18% less edge retention than S35VN . Just don't put 15dps edge on it and chop woods , it is very brittle with such edge. With , 17dps no problem. Great value overall.
