I've watched three video's today - a far, far better footballer then I realised in the 50's/60's .

I was born in 83, so have largely followed Brian Clough retrospectively. His famed confidence is something that continues to fascinate generations, because authentically it is only available to those who've seemingly conquered the one battle that endures through life, You versus You. We know that this cannot be entirely true, but to witness a person project it is contagious to those around them. That is a major part of being a great leader, having full conviction in one's ability to do a job or achieve an aim in life. It can't be taught, or there'd be universities making a killing. It's more than believing, it's KNOWING.

They should remake this interview with Michael Sheen.

I miss both these guys.

I firmly believe that we may well have won a competition with this legendary man in charge of England....fantastic man and a wonderful character....they don't make them like Brian Clough any more... I wouldn't say I'm the best manager...but I'm in the top one! 😅

After this interview he went on to get Notts Forest promoted and win the league the year after and went on to win 2 European cups and establish the club as one of the most successful in Europe in its era.

Michael sheen has played both these men

Brian Clough was a genius, simple as that, he was anti establishment and that’s why he didn’t or wasn’t allowed to manage England, he spoke honestly and forthright and that never went down well with authorities, hence the FA employ its yes men for the national team, ie; Southgate, Clough had his way of doing things, and no one can argue he was wrong, Loved the man, his philosophy, he was a true working class hero, RIP Brian Clough, YNWA

For motormouth philosophy in Sport England had Clough and America had Ali...I know who I'd prefer listening to...

There is no shadow of a doubt in my mind that England would have won another World Cup under this man. And I'm a Leicester fan - I'm supposed to dislike him. What he did with Forest was unprecedented. But I just like him as a man and a football fan. (glad he didn't get Weller though)
