Had he won 2 European cups before this interview?
Just watched the interview involving him and Don Revie. Fascinating he was talking about winning the league ' better than Revie and Euros Well that was 74. 5 years on he achieved those things. That interview was 6 of one and half a dozen of another about his time at Leeds. But clearly a non establishment figure who is misunderstood like the few idealists before him.
I started supporting Forest in 78 not because of Clough but over the years I realised he was the special one. We will never have a character like this in football again but these videos are priceless. Little did any of us Forest fans ( and wider ) know what was to come after this interview, so many cups. RIP old big ‘ ead.
I'd love to see Michael Sheen (Frost) interviewing Michael Sheen (Clough). 🤣
Sock gap anyone from the crew?👀
The honesty here is so refreshing. We just don’t get people speaking this way these days.
35 my arse. Cloughie still walks on water
Heart breaking.
One of my favorite personalities of all time. Such a brilliant talker whether he was right or wrong. There was logic and sense with everything he said though and with bags of charisma. Other managers have won more but none at clubs the size of Forest and Derby. He's the greatest for me and I am not a Derby or Forest fan.
Enjoyed seeing Leicester go four up inside fifteen minutes there.
🙏 rip brian x
@@Rossboy2112 RIP Jim Smith
Clough looked like Robert Maxwell as he got older.
Another Legend from the Mighty Boro
A shame Cloughie never got to manage England, im sure we'd have more silverware if he did
1:40 He was spot on, He thought it was over the top then what would he think now with Man City and all that nonsense? The game that these legends loved has gone now.
Clough: My 2 boys are fanatical Derby supporters.
The bald eagle,and Mr ego!
How many European Cups have you won then?
Jim Smith couldn’t get a word in 😂
This proves Cloughie loved Derby the most
We were awful, Alvechurch should’ve won at least 3-0. Too many players aren’t good enough.
love 'em both RIP both ...COYS
As a centre forward nobody remembers just how good he was … him and greavsie on par !
Brian bought Ramonde ponte , Ainer Ass and Hans Van Breukelen to these shores early eighties … all for bringing them in back then 👍🏽
Proper managers managing proper teams! love them both…..Jim smith our manager at Oxford United legend and clough for the man he is was both legends in my book. RIP to both of them.
Jim Smith’s Yellow Army! COYY
Here's one story that's not mentioned with regard Mr Clough. Jimmy Gordon was his trainer at Derby & Forest & he relied on Jimmy a lot. Jimmy an old Pro was paid a ordinary working man wage. After decades of service he was granted a testimonial with Forest v Derby. Clough told the Treasurer he would be having some of Jimmy's money for the 'club' ie his wallet. After the game Jimmy eventually went to get his money which after any expenses came to £7000 which should have all gone to Jimmy but Treasurer said Mr Clough had already been down & took £3000, his cut. This is fact. Despicable on a man who had very little to show for a life in football bar his undoubted loyal service to Clough.
Proof or it didn't happen.
Sounds like nonsense.
They both sound like they had a good drink that day 🍻😄
Cloughie had stopped by this point.
Eagle Eagle!!
We're destroyed Brain.
This is great. Cheers for the upload. A right gem. Bless. Cloughie was a special man. And this interview shows what he's about greatly. Miss the guy.
2 great managers,Jim worked wonders at Oxford. And Cloughie well it goes without saying
Brilliant to see him in better health. "Made some jam!". In other news, apparently Jim Smith had the biggest d*ck in football!
he's too quick for them
Pished out his nut but pure class
A pair of legends. Cloughie could have been a TV presenter
Does Jim want to even be there? His body language says not.
What football would give nowadays for top quality English managers like Brian Clough + Jim Smith…both excellent characters, great servants to the game & successful. Both from an era where the game was working-class.
The FA still wouldn’t give them the England managers job
Two great characters from a cherished Era
Smith beat Clough when he was Pompey boss. Pompey beat Forest in a cup tie in 1992.
"and all that type of thing" Clough said that a lot!
It's like all those people who say "and all that" or " know what I mean?". Just a covers-all-bases turn of phrase that lingers. Doesn't have a distinct meaning.
If Cloughie wax still here, I’d have him interview Kier Starmer!!!!
No lee anderson 😂
2 absolutely amazing managers!!! I can spend a whole day watching Cloughie! Even re watching videos, they certainly broke the mould when he was created! Even though he was so harsh, sometimes violent, nobody has a bad word to say about him!
It's ironic that if he stayed at Leeds Utd, the story of those great days at Nottingham Forest would never have happened.
When you know what you know you just tell it like it is, he was brilliant and had every right to say it!! He was the best because he cared more than anyone else and had passion in abundance. God bless him.
👍🏼 Great clip In my opinion, Cloughie’s the best manager ever. It was a pleasure to grow-up in an era of football that involved superb characters like Cloughie & Jim Smith. As a young Birmingham fan my first ever game was in 1980 vs Forest (then Champions of Europe). Jim Smith was Blues manager, that day our seats were close to the dugouts and getting glimpses of both managers was just as entertaining as the match for a wide-eyed 7 year old me 😁
Two Legendary Rams bosses.
Sunderland fans loved cloughie he was a goal machine at Roker park back in the early 60s🔴⚪️🌑 legend
Legends from a bygone age when Football was everything to me , nowadays i dont give a hoot the Game is justva load of old shit
He wasnt wrong about the players wages was he....the game is gone
Poor old Jim hardly got a word in!!
Legend's of the game jim & Brian
