If you want BBQ then you go to BBQ joint. The best burgers in KC are Five Guys. Fast food isnt better. Sit down places dont have a better burger and fries.

Fluffy fresh on Johnson drive

For a good New York slice, I suggest Original Pizza at Antioch and College Blvd (also in Oak Park Mall food court). For a Midwestern thin crust, I highly recommend Tim's Pizza in Independence (cash only).

Grandstand Burger in Merriam is my favorite local spot and it's fairly close to me, but I've also heard Big Burger on Vivion Rd in KC, MO is very good.

Need to give Jim's Platinum Burgers a try, its a hidden gem.

Dude I personally agree with you. I went there twice. The greasiest burger I have ever had. I was told and they proclaimed burgers are fresh, bull. I watched the cooks pull frozen patties out of a box. Which is no different than any other restaurant. They suck.

Chef J is my new go to - it's so good. Their sausage is amazing and their ribs are also delightful. A friend loves Bates BBQ's ribs so they're on my list too. My husband likes Wolfpack too.

You went to these places and got sandwiches instead of bbq meats, I can’t say I agree with your approach. Also, all the locals here, that eat bbq consistently, don’t eat at q39.

So I just found this review. Try Italian Delight in KCK and Nicks Pizza in KCK. Both NY Style. Both very yummy!

Lived in KC back in the early 80s. I recall Wyandotte bbq in KCK and Sammy’s on Troost Ave having really good barbecue. They were totally old school joints. Not sure if they are still around, but it would be great if they are.

Ray’s Donuts , Vivian and N Oak Trafficway in North Kansas City/Gladstone area, love the donuts and their apple fritters are HUGE!

As an Italian from Kansas City I will never go to Pizza Tascio. The owner isn’t Italian and his logo and business name is a borderline racist portrayal of Italians. Do your research. It’s like the Cleveland Indians logo for Italians. Screw that place and that guy. I hope no one goes there.

i aggree with others lcs down off Eastwood and bbs lawnside are my two go to places. dont confuse lcs bbq with the lcs that are in the gas stations not the same there is only one lcs bbq

The snack shack in Merriam Ks off Johnson Drive is the best burger i have ever had. Tays off Armour road in North Kansas city ia a close second

Westport flea market and Fritz are to be avoided by any means necessary. I’d rather eat at McDonald’s than buy food for them.

Couple more recommendations: Paul's Drive In in south KC Humdinger's on 9th and Prospect - especially for the onion rings. Winsteads is another KC legacy that's still holding their own. Grandstand Burgers in Merriam

People always talk about Joe's, Jack stack, Bryant's, and Gates...but Slaps is the best

I would also say New Orleans' Bourbon Street can be a pretty lawless and dangerous place to be in general. It is extremely easy to get scammed or stumble into some very sketchy areas that surround the French Quarter. You can still enjoy your visit if you are privy to how people are scammed, but for the unassuming tourist it would be easy to be swindled out of a lot of cash, or make a bad drunk decisions late at night. Theres a lot of gang violence in neighborhoods very close to the touristy spots.

There's better BBQ than Joe's. Go to Slaps and Pigwich. You won't need to get a bank loan like you do to eat at Jack Stack. Jack Stack is sure proud of their BBQ and it shows in the prices. Weekend brunch at Bob's BBQ Shack in Merriam just off Johnson Drive is really good too.

I'm a fan of Donut King. I like Lamar's too, but Donut King is about $12/doz less expensive and just as good if not better.

Ummm, Max’s is ok. The best burger in KC is at Kittys Cafe. Hands down. And the tenderloin is the bomb too.

Disappointed to see that The Pendergast Club wasn't on this list, but being that you have to be a member/be with a member it is harder to get into.

I work and eat all over the city daily, and have been to many places. I am always on a mission to find the best Donuts, Breakfast, Taco's, (Mexican Restaurants) Burgers, Pizza in every area. I tried all the ones you mentioned, except Duck Donuts. They look good. Gonna have to swing by there. But there are 3 places that you need to try if you want to compare the best. Hanna's Donuts near 635 and Shawnee Drive in KS, Ridgewood Donuts on Blue Ridge Blvd near I-70 in Independence, MO. Yummy's Donut Palace on 291 North of I-70 also in Independence. Also, I have to mention Doughboys at 63rd street and Woodson rd. in Raytown.

Paul's in the Ruskin area double cheeseburger or the Big Boy are off the hook. This place has been cooking burgers for at least 60 years. I think they just won the best burger in KC also; I would like to see you do a showdown for the best Italian steak in KC which I think is Paul's also. give everyone a shot then go to Paul's.
