This is all true, but there's too much yammering, drawing, and repetition. My husband of 53 years has always been this great. My only issue would be his "planning a surprise weekend vacation." I'd be furious. These things must be discussed together, in advance.

I was in relationships (friends/partner/etc) where I was called a drama queen, crybaby, called a source of drama or told I was too sensitive. Instead of being compared to people, I've been told I was just like a certain group of kids that were generally horrible(that completely broke me when I heard that). And I've had relationships where my body seemed to be all they were interested. I've even had someone tell ne I'd always come second compared to another person. I think these experiences (and probably more( are what have messed me up like I am now. I'm just starting to get better but it's hard.

I have heard these statements from women. I don't think this is gender specific.

When he tells me any of this crap, I give it right back to him. Women who let their men bully like this them are very weak individuals.

The kind of man who makes these remarks will also work at separating you from any supporters like your old friends and family. They can destroy your life

All of these seem glaringly obvious to me. There are a lot more small and subtle ones also (mixed in with a lot of feel good love bombing) as a lot of abusers don’t start off with you in such a big or obvious way. A big one for me was just that tho. This kind of more subtle and confusing back and forth. another also would be when actions don’t match words. They seem to early on just sprinkle in mild insults or forms of control like a dash of salt. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It only goes downhill from there. What they’re really doing is managing you down and trying to see how much you’ll put up with. (Until you’re managed all the way down). And the more you put up with, the more of it they will do.

I never had a relationship where the man did not say all those 8 things constantly. because that´s just how men act in relationships. telling us these are all red flags and there are better people out there who do not behave this way is rather misleading and a complete illusion. be prepared to hear all of the 8 red flags over and over again.

I know a really big red flag that one of my x husbands said while I was having a serious conversation with, he started singing “I don’t want to grow up I’m a toys-R-Us Kid . I didn’t think it was funny because I married him because I wanted to have a family and his drinking and drugs friends were more important. After he got arrested for a hit and run that was it and the marriage ended. This one lasted about a year just like my first one. If there is a god he truly hates me, all my relationships have been nothing but ka ka poo poo 💩

Another red flag. If you start dating a man who repeatedly complains about his exes. or date a divorcee who constantly tells you what a "bitch" his ex wife was RUN!! It took me a long time to get this. I fell into the trap of thinking I was the right one for him that would make up for "all the misfortune he suffered." Wrong! This was especially the case when I got involved with a divorcee. Before I knew it, I became the punch bag for all the woes he suffered in his previous marriage that he brought upon himself. He must have been as big an arsehole to his ex as he was to me because it was her that divorced him. It took a long time for me to get it, but after being gas lighted for so long, I managed to get out.
