The Bear Works
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 ธ.ค. 2020
Bear Works is about doing those projects that don't get done for whatever reason. None of these videos are tutorials or how to, however this is all stuff anyone can do. There are people who do it better and there is nothing wrong with paying people to do stuff for you, if you've got the time though it can be fun.

Don't Do This! Landrover Discovery 4 Side Step rebuild and repair. Part 1
มุมมอง 491ปีที่แล้ว
Landrover Side Steps get worn out and they are relatively cheap to replace. I wanted to rebuild the frames instead of replacing them. It's possible but not necessarily sensible! GHD Hair Straightener repair saves £120
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
My wife's hair straighteners stop working and new ones were £130. After a little bit of research and investigation I found there is a common fault with the Thermal fuse. This is a quick and simple repair. New thermal fuses can be purchased here: www.ezee-fix.co.uk
Electrolysis Rust Removal
มุมมอง 214ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I'm using Electrolysis to remove rust from a metal part for restoration. It's a cheap simple process that requires very little physical labour. This is great to leave while you get on with other jobs around the workshop! If you'd like a more in depth video on this process then let me know.
Landrover Discovery 4 Side Step refurb fail!

The plan was to remove the side steps from the Discovery, refurbish and spruce them up. Unfortunately the plan failed as you'll see in the video...
Landrover Discovery 4 Headlight repair
มุมมอง 4.6Kปีที่แล้ว
The very complicated Headlight! How I stripped down and repaired the lens on my Discovery 4 Headlight. This can be done, but it was not a fun job, if there are any tips on how to do this better then let me know. Definitely not something I'd want to do again, but it did save money...

Had the same issue, but mine started sometimes. Had to try a few times, then it started again. But after a while it stayed death.
what happened if you use the wrong voltage can it be fixed?
The other part to go faulty commonly is the power cord. If it does, it's even easier to replace and a replacement cord costs about £14.
How do you access the that? Seems like the issue with mine. If I fiddle about with the cord, it switches on so I need to replace the cord.
@@_B.M_ just search power cord replacement. It's a very simple job, just needs a small screwdriver.
This is a great video, it only took me about 15 minutes to get the fuse board off once I'd seen this, you took the pain to make it easier! My replacement Gromit is ordered, however, not looking forward to putting the fuse box back!
Best video on this - this was my exact issue mate 👍 genuinely so many poor videos 🤦♂️
Hi, the same things happening to mine. Was yours asking to press and hold the start button?
Yes it was, its like it doesn't realise you are trying
I’m based in the US. My wife’s iron blew the thermal fuse on one side. A repair shop in the UK told me you aren’t able to just swap a plate assembly that the board needs to be set at whatever the resistance is of the new plate and only they can do that. Seems more like a sales tactic to me. Think that matters at all? The resistance on each plate in my wife’s was in the 580s. I’m thinking of buying a broken one on eBay and swapping in a working plate. Would prefer not to buy a new one if I can easily fix ours.
I just checked the plate assemblies and they're both exactly the same resistance. Around 13.5 ohms. You're right, it does smack of dodgy practice doesn't it.
Worked perfectly, thank you. Happy wife.....you all know the rest 👌🏻
Is yours push button start? If yes was it totally dead due to the starter?
Yes it's push button start. And was totally dead got nothing when pushing the button
Everyone will tell you that you just pop it in the oven to remove these but I'm guessing you found that doesn't work with whatever glue LR used to seal these up in the first place. I found exactly the same with my facelift L322 lenses, up to 2009 you can heat them and remove but after that the heat does nothing at all. I'm here watching this to see if it's as awkward to do my wife's D4 lenses as it was to do my L322, seems like it is. Thanks for the video.
Same thing with the LR3. I haven't done it yet since everyone says it's a real pain to fit the fuse box back in.
Thank you, worked a treat! :)
This is the first video I’ve seen that addresses this issue on a right hand drive model. All the others show the driver side being repaired, which appears to be a lot easier than the passenger side. An excellent video and very informative, I will subscribe and follow for more repairs to LR4👌
Great video - just trying to repair the Wifes. I guess I need a multi meter - any recomendations please? Never used one.
They can be quite confusing when first using one, and if you're only getting one for jobs like this then cheap and cheerful. Screwfix is a good bet
Hi, I have exactly the same issue on my LR4 and was quoted £1,500 - £2, 000 for the repair! So I will be doing this job myself. This video is exactly what I need, thank you for taking the time to create it. Where did you get the replacement part from?
Glad it's useful, just be patient when you are doing it, it's a fiddly job. I bought the part on Amazon: YUCKMZ Front Sunroof Drain Tube Hose Elbow Compatible with Land Rover Discovery 3 4 EEH500100 amzn.eu/d/10ZA13C
@@thebearworks Perfect, thank you very much. Wish me luck! 🙂
Had exactly the same problem. All bolts snapped. Totally rusty. Bought a new set and fitted them to the old (not rusted) attachments.
Thanks for doing this video, so what actually was the problem causing the blockage, I’m not sure I really managed to grasp where the issue was?
The fixing at the end of the pipe that fits through the wing, had perished causing the leak. Just needed to replace that
Welcome back
Using plier did not help. Hold in vice and tap element to slide upart
👍🏻
How did you know which side to change?
By checking the fuse wires for continuity.
On this version only one side has the fuse.
Good work.
You absolute legend! This worked a treat. The missus is very happy. Thank you
Put it in the oven for about 20 mins at a low temp, glue softens, hey presto
It would be nice to know the type and number of the sparkplug…
Thanks for the video. 👍
Спасибо, теперь буду знать трудоёмкость) красавчеГ
You can just put it in the oven at about 100 degrees for about 10 minutes and pull it apart
This, it works for pretty much every car headlight, would've saved the guy a lot of work. Its not madness, its normal, headlights need to keep water out.
Glad i watched this before I brought new lens
Slightly amateurish video imo. No torque figures, stepping on tools, hoodie drawstrings in the way, no mention of wear sensors.. I think there are better videos out there for doing this job.
I should have watched this before I bought the lens
How do you lock the suspension? how do you push the brake piston in? is there a handbrake cable?
Thanks for the video. Will do this this weekend as my lawnmower is 5yrs old a d never been serviced. Doh
How much will you charge for repair mine?
It's kind of you to think that I'm professional enough to do that but I really do this to show it can be done diy.
Hi there, so you just bring down the suspension to lock it ? Or is there something else to it?
You lower the suspension, then when it's at its lowest point, you push the button again, and this locks it on the low setting
Hi,when you put the new disc on did you have to adjust the rear handbrake?
Not on this occasion, the shoes were fine, and there was very little wear on the hub part of the disc.
My right left disc was blocked by the brake shoe thus it was hard to remove which was not the case for the left side. Then I had to adjust the shoe with the gear wheel.
I had this problem on an older car once. It was because I didn't use the handbrake regularly, so I always make sure I use it these days.
@@thebearworks great to know, I never use the parking brake. But does it mean that when I was driving the shoes was rubbing on the disc inside for this wheel ? I didn't see any overheated mark
It can vary, I used to never use the parking brake and then one time I went on the euro tunnel so put it on. When it came to drive away it wouldn't release! It could be that yours wasn't as bad or was just stiff I guess. If it was rubbing it could have been very mild in that case
