That was my first ever visit to Goldstone ground. My abiding memory of the day was that I went in some pub close to the ground after the game and it was the first time I ever paid a pound for a pint.😂

funny how this gets recommended to me 22 years after it shut down.
27 years on. None of our recent memories would’ve been without Robbie reinelt
By a distance the most important game in our history. Without that result the Amex would not exist
Nope. Journey from nowhere to now... Impossible..Anything is possible.. In Football.
I ll never forget that day the biggest game in the clubs history.I remember looking round at half time and people were crying there eyes out I ve never seen so many upset and than pure joy when the final while went.
Half time was horrific.... we all felt that it was done.... we weren't going to make it and at that point in our history it was likely the club was gone too. I wanted to leave.... I didn't want to watch us go... but I did stay and watch the second half ... I say watched I was struggling with ut all. When we scored I just grabbed the person next to me and we were jumping abou and going absolutely nuts.... no idea who they were. I never want to go through the emotions of that day ever again..... it was one if the worst days of my life..... and we got the result we wanted .... Anyone who wasn't there will never understand what it was like...... With us now doing so well... that game will always be the biggest in our history
@lukesmith5878 definitely! It was an expensive day for me and my mates We hired a Renault espace that day because 9 of us went up it was quiet warm so on the way back we had the genius idea of driving with the sliding door open. The breaks got slammed on the door shut and the window fell out! It was like something from onlh fools and horses.😂 my mate who hired it didn't take any insurance out on it so it cost us 800 also loads of a blim burns and beer got spilit everywhere! I also remember in the town near the tescos there was a pub and it all kicked off inside! Crazy day I started going just after we lost to Notts County so just saw the club decline. My son who's been going for ten years now has just seen us go up and up! I did manage to get to Marseille away last season which for the likes of ourselves just seems ridiculous now!
20 years on!! Oh man 😢 💙
Guy Mowbury now head commutator at the BBC and Peter Duty now the same for sky
Great night.
His voice alone is absolutely sensational
Great day….i remember the gordies in the Brighton end with blonde curly wigs on when we scored the first goal they got lobbed out….great times back then seagullllllllls
AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaalbion till i die.
Mid season Adkins said Brighton would struggle to keep up with the Saints. He looked a bit silly at the end of the season.
I was there and my friend was assaulted by City fans after the game!
Thanks Dick.

Rot in peace Bellotti.
Fast forward to now, seagulls in Europe!!!
I’m a Newcastle fan because that’s where my mum came from, and the first games I saw were with my Grandad at SJP in the 70’s and 80’s, and later on when I was at Uni up there. My Dad’s from Worthing and his brothers in particular were big Brighton fans. Mum died a few weeks ago and the family on both sides dug out old boxes of photos and whatever of the times both halves of the family were together - not often (weddings mainly) because, well, 350 miles in the 70’s and 80’s was a long way. But in one of these boxes my Uncle found a ticket he’d saved from 5/5/79. My Grandad got tickets for my Dad and Uncle and a few others, in the Newcastle end of course (seats mind!). I was only 9 but remember my uncle being told to behave by a policeman but when the third went in he couldn’t hold back any more. I think a certain amount of tolerance was allowed by the surrounding geordies because of the presence of kids but also because if they’d beaten Brighton, Sunderland could have been the beneficiaries. And well, if Newcastle had nothing to play for then **** the Mackems up was still a decent result 😉 I do note the second has more than a touch of the Segers!
👍
