BUILD A BACKLIT LED SIGN!!! Tips and Tricks for DIY
How do i know far from sides and front to mount it? Is there a guide ? Like 4 inches on side? 2 innfront ?
James, what did you use to make adjustable feet for the table saw? Critical point to having a nice flat system....
Looks good for what it is for sure....my problem is I just do NOT have the patience to do this properly. I love working on engines and mechanical stuff, but paint/body work is just not my cup of tea. I just picked up a '73 CB750 off of marketplace that came with a pretty bad rattle can paint job on the tank so I might attempt to to paint it, but it wouldn't approach anywhere near this quality....my thought is I can't really make it worse so where's the harm in trying?
Great video! one question though. What was the font you used in this video?
Hey i sent you an email if you didnt get it could you check your spam folder please. Thank you its a great video
good job thank you for the freebee
Appreciate it!
what I dont get is this. I painted my tank with the base coat. Then I put clear lacquer on it about 4 coats. But my lacquer doesn't dry shiny glossy, it is still quite dull. How is that??? Any ideas on that?
Laquer can have issues when it begins to dry, solvent can get caught under what is almost a skin, you can try a quick wipe with denatured alcohol but be careful it can take the paint off if you use to much. Hope this helps!
Really nice work ,what kind of screws you used for the wood into the metal . Thank you
Thank you! They are Teks self drilling screws for wood to metal! They are a life saver
👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍
Thank you!
Please share dimensions - excellent project
Thank you, unfortunately I don’t have the dimensions, I did this on the fly for the most part, you can find similar plans online though!
What size is trailer
Great ! I am looking for a Mitter station which would sit in the middle of a big table, that way u have the wings on each side. Do u have plans for that?
I don’t but you can definitely modify the one I have to add wings
Awesome !
Thanks!
Great job! I still don’t have the courage, though! 😆 Ride safe
Appreciate it!
Very nice, thank-you! I am building this., I want it to house my Dewalt planer aswell on the other side Are your 2x4x8’ or? In your cut list it says 2x4 but it doesn’t say how long they are
Yes, everything should be 8ft sorry about that! Glad you enjoyed.
The doors came out amazing!!!
Thank you, can’t wait to start on a blank canvas!
Want these cabinets in MY home 💪💪😤😤😤 so good!
Good thing you know a guy lol
I have this exact kit! Centec is nice, much cheaper than rocklers kit but unfortunately the attachments don’t always stick well and I have to use tape to make more of a solid fit. I’d like to buy the Wen wall mounted dust collector and somehow connect this kit to it but I haven’t seen how to modify a heavier duty dust collection like wen or Harbour Freight’s collector in a way that removes the annoying bag and separates the dust into a bin. I hate to have to undo the bag to clean out dust and I’ve seen modifications on really big dust collectors but not on the smaller when version. It’d be nice though because my Ridgid shop vac can’t handle my tablesaw and dust flies back onto me horribly even with everything on
I love the kit but I agree I’ve used hose clamps to keep the connectors on certain tools. I’ve seen a lot of different ways to modify the dust collectors. There are a lot of Facebook groups surrounding small shops that have really good designs you should check that out for ideas.
Looks so much better, love that they’re inset!
Thank you!
Great work with using the tools you have! Not easy to get everything to line up that nicely
Definitely a challenge!
TY for making this video. Nice work too! I've been thinking about how to film "designing it and then making it" and agree it's super hard. Good luck, but I do look forward to seeing that part too.
Thanks, yea the showing the design part is hard for me but I think I have a decent idea of how to do it! Thanks for the support!
@@jamesofalltradesny hard for everyone, I think that's why so few even attempt it. I've been trying to film woodworking and even that's a huge challenge. Yet to really get _good_ usable footage, but I'm getting better, totally outside my wheel house. Thanks again!
Thanks for the lesson learned! I’ll be using that!
Appreciate the support!

Where did you use the 2 x 6 in your shopping list?
Honestly I’m drawing a blank, I’ll need to look when I have a computer in front of me.
@@jamesofalltradesny Its all good, thanks for getting back to me.
Wow, it’s beautiful.
Thank you!
Fantastic build, This weekend I will be attaching the tops and casters.
Thank you!

Nice jobs
Thank you!
horrible video , to much work to many steps , you over complicated it
Let me know your process..
Clearly you've never even watched a single video on professional car painters doing work. Constant prep, multiple levels of paint and sanding are all required to get a depth and luster to the paint.
That was awesome! Wish I could also have these kind of tools for my DIY's
Thank you! You’ll get there
Wow! What a fantastic result! Glad I watched it.
Appreciate it!
I prefer to actually see the finished product. No idea what you actually made.
Yea looking back now this was one of my earlier videos, lesson learned
@@jamesofalltradesny All good. Thanks for the reply. I was just really interested in that industrial pipe tap tower. Actually a very cool idea but I think I got the gist.
Room to incorporate a router table?
You definitely could add one in the outfeed area!
I appreciate the fact that you can still use the snowblower if you wanted to. I'm very impressed with your fabrication, and sharing you knowledge of welding thick and thin metal by favoring the thick side.
Appreciate the support, glad you enjoyed!
Can this sign be used outside? Are the lights waterproof?
No this cannot be, but you can find waterproof leds and different materials to get the same effect!
@@jamesofalltradesny I just found the waterproof leds and waterproof solderless connectors! That plus precut wooden letters should make this project even more DIY friendly (hopefully 🥲) Thanks for the reply!
Do you happen to have the plans for this?
I do not, but I have an updated design coming out in a few weeks that can be ordered through my website if you’re interested in that!
Suggest that you show the end product first, then explain how to make it. Thanks for the info!
if some stickers before last k be damage the stickers???
I’m assuming you’re saying clear coat over the stickers? I would do a test shot before trying that.
Im slow af cuz i didnt underatand the google drive plans😂
Send me an email! I can send them over
Couldn’t watch it all. Why do people keep putting stupid music in the background?
Tell me how you really feel
You sound like a boomer
@@jardinero119 And?
How long did you let the paint cure before clear?
A full 24hrs
Definitely want to do the same but integrade the miter saw into it somehow
Yea that would definitely be nice, I built a separate cabinet for that but I’m quickly running out of space
ALWAYS make sure pallet wood is stamped HEAT TREATED as chemically treated wood is toxic & carsenigenic!
Good to know, I don’t think I used any pallet wood in this video though.
how many cans did you end up using ? Cheers
~ 2 of each type
Very nice router table.
Appreciate it!
Thanks for doing this comparison! Nice job!
Appreciate it!
It would be cheaper to just unmount the tank yourself and bring it to your nearest paint specialist, it would cost me less than to have to buy all that gear used for painting a tank, not mentioning work hours.
I mean yea if you don’t already have the tools sure.
It’s a hobby for some people
Aircraft paint remover shoulda worked. I remember working on some Generals “crypt” from way back in the day in Austin Texas and me n my brother were using that stuff to get all the old paint off so we could restore it and it’s some pretty good stuff! 💯 And this is kinda fkd up but we actually got into a fist fight at work that day and while we were throwing each other around, we knocked over our work bench along with everything on it including the aircraft remover and it got all over our bodies. Talk about burning!! 😬 OUCH!!! I still have scars on my side, my stomach and my arms from that shit! Good times 😅😬
Haha I probably used it wrong, I’ve had luck with aircraft remover on basic spray paint. I’ll have to try it again and yea that stuff definitely burns lol!
@@jamesofalltradesny yea, we did actually have to let that stuff sit for quite awhile being that this crypt was from the 1800’s! The old paint was really thick too 😬
How does the finish stand up to gas?
Stood up great the clear coat is a 2k product. It’s exactly the same as a factory coating.
Would love plans please!
Set em over!
