Very high praise coming from a fellow great. The fact you dont hear or see much from Kallis is because doing well in this game was never about himself. He went about his business, simply trying to be best he could be for his teams, while quietly breaking records along the way. A 100 didnt mean much to him if it wasnt compiled in a way that allow batters to play with freedom around him, and it didnt result in a win. There is a reason guys like Amla, De Villiers, Faf, Duminy and many others could come into the batting line-up, spend time learning their craft, then settle into their own roles. Kallis made a mockery of accumulating runs at his own pace...no-one had to worry about Kallis delivering his best...he just did. No matter what was weighing on him.

Kallis though I don't necessarily consider as a match winner with his runs or wickets. He didn't play Aussies in full cry like Lara or Sachin did ... Lara in particular faced the Aussies alot more than any other nation.

2008 Monkey gate scandal ,was handled poorly by Ricky. Harbhajan was targetted by Aus media . Anil kumble handled it better.,as Indian captain. Both teams didnt see eye to eye.

People ask who is the greatest batsman after Sachin Tendulkar & Brian Lara. Some say its Dravid, Kallis, Virat, Sangakkara, Villiers etc. But for me Ponting is the 3rd Greatest Batsman after Sachin Tendulkar & Brian Lara. What an absolute legend he is. Hated him in my childhood bcos of 2003 WC Final, but now huge respect to him as a legend. I must say the time between 1991 -2011, was probably the best years in world cricket, full of legends and greats in every team. Miss that time bcos now we dont have that quality of players.Those who have seen cricket in 1990s and 2000s, they will know that why I am saying

Ponting wasnt just a great legendary cricketer , he was in the same league as "Shane warne" its the "cinema" , "Aura" " character" that punter created. Such was is his effect that you could see shades of punter in every other teammate of that aussie team uffff

Been a fan since he made his debut against my team way back in 95. Even during his Captain Grumpus phase, I still didn't care what others around me thought because there was never a doubt in my mind that the only thing he wanted was for his team to win, not personal records, not personal glory. That comment about taking 3 seconds to ask yourself what is best for my team at every moment is perfect because that's exactly how he was in the field. There has never been a greater fielder than Punter. No great fielder has taken catches in the slips, point, midwicket, in the outfield, and around the bat at Silly Point and Batpad (which he did as captain: what captain puts himself under the lid close to the batter? Punter that's who). No great fielder has terrified batters about taking quick singles when Punter was prowling in Point and Midwicket. Just an incredible cricketer, and will always be in my top three favourite cricketers of all time along with Akram and Lara. Post retirement Punter turning into this affable, smiley man took a while to get used to but I realize now that this is who he is, and the snarly Captain Grumpus of his playing days was just helment-on.
