Whether it's taking a walk in the woods or simply sitting outside and breathing in the fresh air, nature has a way of calming my mind and grounding me in the present moment. Do you have any first timer tips or what you would recommend to work on first in order to improve my Tai Chi push hands?

    You are only using one aspect of Tai Chi and very limited concepts of other concepts of Tai Chi because you have only learned Yang Tai Chi. There are many other aspects in combat that Tai Chi can be used to counter punches. Study Chen Tai Chi and you will understand more concepts that can be applied in jabs.

    taichi principle is ying yang, and in 3D, groin kick and attack is an integral part(or foot stomps)。 so when someone is throwing punches at your head,where the opponents attention/focus/ direction of movement is on the upper body, that’s the Yang of the moment, the obvious space that opens up is ying, that’s where your Yang goes in. If you look at your video, draw a circle of ying yang in y-axis, covering your opponent and you, you see that clearly. You are meeting his Yang with your Yang. That’s double Yang. Not Ying Yang. I learnt this the hard way when I as ask my sifu what happens if I throw flurry of fast punches? He asked me to do it on him, and I went in with 7-8 punches a second to his face, and was kicked in the groin without seeing the kick. Think of ying yang like a body of water on top of a rock. It looks still, when there are no cracks and opening in the rocks, but the water is actively pushing down on the rock every moment, and when the rock crack, show an opening, the water doesn’t wait a beat, it flows into the rock. I am also 4th dan in kendo, and I use this taichi mentality/spatial sense in it. When you look still, only because there’s no opening, when ying yang is balanced. Historical taichi masters saying some one’s taichi is good, they use the phrase “出手即見紅“ literal translation is, “when he does strike, you see blood immediately”, goes in for the kill, no wasted extra movements。 Also, the very first movement in taichi form, 起手式 can be broken down to 4 attacks in one movement, 1)attack to the groin with back of hand, 2)attack to chin when raising the hands, 3)jab to throat when sinking the elbow, 4) presss/push to chest when hands up and going down. Also, practice so that you should be able to perform groin kick with almost every position/transition in the taichi form(without loosing balance, without moving your shoulders), to make sure you ying yang is clear(polarized).

    @ezraallen3883 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ...OK but that just looks like generic sparring maybe you try to stay lose... but I've heard boxers say that. If I was to argue that Tai Chi would work in a fight I would make the case for touch sensitivity in a similar way to silat or wing chun. Where learning to feel what your opponent is going to do next by keeping contact and sticking to them is an advantage that a boxer might not have to the same degree. I don't think fighting on the gap works for Tai Chi and you are just better off using another style for that.

  • @U.W.Y.H.L.
    @U.W.Y.H.L. 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Why are you acting as though Tai Chi has no parries, counters or strikes? And even worse making it out as though it’s an external art, idiotically with no parries, counters or strikes? Whoever you learned Tai Chi from should be ashamed of your sorely lacking comprehension, lest they themselves are exposed also as false teachers! P.S. , I guess you’re purposely playing dumb by leaving out the chuan which make the missing sense out of your pathetic misrepresentation.😳🤦🏻‍♂️🙄/✌️🤲☝️🤔

    • @sifuniko
      @sifuniko 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@U.W.Y.H.L. everyone is entitled to their opinion! Your perception is your reality and I cannot change that but the only thing I will say is Tai Chi has everything you need without external arts. My goal here is to get others to learn more about adopting other arts from a self defense standpoint, an art of war stand point, knowing the enemy etc. Sort of infiltrating other arts! 🎭 The thing Taiji has that many others don’t is neijia or internal strength through qi and connectivity! Thanks for the feedback man, seriously I love the art and just purely discovering and discussing more about it!

    • @U.W.Y.H.L.
      @U.W.Y.H.L. 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sifuniko It’s SOO crazy how whenever I’m inquiring about internal martial arts, mainly through videos like these but even when briefly afforded the chance to experience it through practitioners that whoever I’m checking out at the time seems to be totally ignorant of the rest of worlds perspective! Do you know or are you clueless of a popular Tai Chi practitioner named Adam Mizner? If you do, just imagine what he’d say about your absolutely distorted interpretation of THE GRAND ULTIMATE FIST, and how in the world would you feel any need to go outside of Tai Chi to lower class inferior styles that only apply strength and structure and no awesome internal power? If you don’t know of him please do us both a favor and just look him up on TH-cam as I’ve done you then make a video on explaining to yourself and the world how you still somehow hold the same view in this video, if not a completely different understanding. Sorry for any harsh criticism, you’re awesome in your own right but seeing your potential wasted almost brings me to tears reminiscent of how Bruce Lee might have been had he stuck to internal wing chun as that’s supposed to be.
