posting clips of my favourite musicians (mainly 80s post-punk) that I find funny or interesting. mostly it's just really random and silly stuff, nothing to take too seriously. I don't own any of the content and I'll be glad to credit you or remove the video if the content is yours. you can lmk in the comments or dm me on either of my 2 instagram accounts (@oldtestament.frappucino and @ianmccullochistheprettiergirl). hope you enjoy what you find here :)

i love the entire film but these are just some of my favourite scenes. i think it captures the band's personality so well, i also love how funny and random it is, all in all it's very meaningful to me. the link to the film: th-cam.com/video/n8q14frWQ-U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-aI0gU3Jv3-pwcz3 please lmk if you want me to remove the video due to copyright ownership; obviously all the rights belong to john...

I always thought Sisters of Mercy were from Leeds but he doesn`t sound like a Northerner at all.
he was born in ely, then he moved first to oxford and then to leeds to study, and the band was indeed founded in leeds

MICAHEL JACKSON tried to become andrew eldritch, shows how monumental Andrew was, so original, I also sort of identify with him, he's a loner beyond words, bet he never married.
i was never an mj fan, but i love andrew:) i think the last time he answered a question about his marital status he was living with his gf and cats (goals)
Ma perché è cattivo secondo voi ????😮😮
i don't think he's bad, it's just that a lot of people do...but it's nothing really serious:)
Hmm, interesting. I met Patricia back in the early 90s (about a year or so after leaving Sisters). She was genuinely really sweet! (Also very tall and very pretty, very smart too). Got to sit with her for a lovely little chat for about 30 minutes, just myself and my friend from one of the bands I worked with. Actually, it was arranged as a surprise for me to meet Patricia by my friend who knew her and never told me! It is one of those things I will never forget.
that's amazing, i'm glad you got to meet her! she seems incredibly cool:)
@@theculturebunker Yes, incredibly sweet.
Loveee this man 🖤
“In my case it’s male and female, in THIS case-“ yeah Peter we know you’ve fucked men it’s okay
Una voz prediligiada
absolutely and when you see how it defined how we seen goth/darkwave now it's so iconic
Peter was mewing before it was a thing. What a legend
petaah would be so big on tiktok these days
I sometimes wonder if he’s on the spectrum; highly cynical, often rude, doesn’t enjoy crowds and other weird mannerisms
would not surprise me at all tbh
also the eye contact issues
I used to idolize him until I saw some of these interviews. I wouldn't go as far as calling him evil, just bloody arrogant.
@@rijmertspreeth4575 No, he’s certainly not what I would call evil, just socially inept and cynical
The guy isn't evil in any sense. But he's sarcastic, ironic and has a quite wierd and dry sense of humor. And i tend to read his behaviour as being quite introverted to, not really comfortable with the chitchat part of things.
Brilliant 🤙🏼
Never thought he was evil, but a genius *definitely!* 💜 Some typicals don't get his intelligence /dry humour or appreciate his crystal cynicism /truth [I 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 it. Maybe it's an ASD thing]- & other oiks just read 3rd hand comments, never met him but feel entitled to snark-! Jealous perhaps. Hussey & a legion of others tried to be him, but arn't a teenth as smart, talented or original. & they lacked the cheekbones.
yeah cheekbones are kind of the essence of the genre
Very intelligent man and love his arrogance ha. Definitely one of a kind man and band.
Interesting how English ppl, attempt to speak/ communicate in English and FAIL so, very badly.....
LMAOO i love scouse tho, it has become my fav accent ever thanks to mac
@@theculturebunker I'm Australia, a lot of ppl think I have an English accent. It's the mumbling of Mac etc that I can't understand.
@@spaceengineer1452 idk how people confuse the two😭but i guess they just aren't exposed to as many different accents as us post-punk fans lol
What a talent and beauty…saw them at Roseland in NY. Alcohol destroys us all…
yeah...it makes me very sad:( but i hope he's doing okay now..it's just that the damage remains
Arrogance and alcohol. In an unholy combination. They had global stardom within reach, too. Without bothering,.... Hard to forget, however, the masterpieces. Of their early years. With Pete,.. and they are still worth listening to.
@@user-pt1ow8hx5l i don't think arrogance is as much as a problem as alcohol. i mean yk it's not real arrogance, they were just having fun in interviews. i feel like it's more important to affect fewer people's lives with your entire discography then to have global hits tbh. so in my eyes they'll always be one of the best bands ever
Nah. They stayed within their comfort zone: Liverpool! They never sold out, however. And have had a huge influence on subsequent bands. And guitarist.
@@user-pt1ow8hx5l truee
Did he call Killing Joke fascists there???
it would appear so...
Why, at the age of 53, does Andrew Eldritch praising The Stone Roses give me so much joy? Maybe I was right about my music choices all these years...
i was very happy to see that too, as well as him having nice things to say about depeche mode, since i really love both bands... there's something almost reassuring about seeing your favourite artists support each other
I love this so much

My favourite Eldritch quote was when someone accused him of writing music to appeal to Americans (specifically Detonation Boulevard). His response was to say if he was writing songs for Americans they would have to be instrumentals because they are too stupid to understand his lyrics. Was hoping it was gonna be included here but sadly not
oh yeah i remember watching that interview...not sure that would go so well with proving he isn't evil tho, especially for americans, so that's why it's not included (although it's generally understood he doesn't actually think americans are stupid)
The Godfather of Goth ! 🖤
It’s interesting to see a 20 year old Nick alongside a 19 year old Roland here, both of them just at the start of their careers, without knowing the path ahead of them. Who would have thought that that 20 year old goofing off with his buddies would achieve so much later on?
true, no one could have anticipated. they seem almost idealistic and naive here
Is it me or was his speaking voice a bit higher pitched at times when he was younger?
possibly, i was also shocked when i heard him speak for the first time by how much higher his speaking voice is to his singing one
I've read the Paint My Name In Black And Gold book and I was surprised at how nice everyone was about him.
i haven't read those but i definitely have to! i think most people who consider him an asshole are som fans and some of the people he's worked with
@@theculturebunker I thought that, but Gary Marx, Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams all seem to have nice things to say about him - they don't so much think he's an asshole as wonder why he made things so difficult for himself.
@@Morphstock that's unusual... seems like he holds more against them than the other way around. which i guess depicts him as a bit difficult but yeah he's not that bad i don't get what people are so mad about
Love his point about Vanilla Ice. Very true.
i'm so glad he said that... that really does show a lot about our society, and it's a pattern with so many artists
Wish everyone took such a clear stance against nazis as he does
yeah me too! i was really happy to see that...especially since some goths like to use fascist imagery or even have such views (but i don't consider those an actual part of the subculture anyway tbh)
Have you got a link for the source of that footage at the end with Bill Drummond and the band doing the crazy parlour trick? I’d seen it once and had never been able to find it again.

2:35 Nick finally being honest about his sexuality. Culture Bunker would you mind if I use that clip of Nick answering that question? I would link it back to this video gratefully. ❤r
i don't mind at all:) the video isn't really mine anyways, here's the link to the entire interview th-cam.com/video/5l4yFpUYhIM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZZldabCT8vmG0BZe if you're interested or want to use that
btw do you maybe still have that video i asked you about last week, the one about christianity and conservatism? i can't find it
@@theculturebunker Thank you! The place that hosted Nick’s conversation event came after me and made me take it down. It was really kind of weird because I paid to attend that event and they never even once said that you could not record or re-share footage of it. Before those events they always tell the audience members not to film people asking questions of Nick but they never say not to film him answering. I think they were just mad because I had about 5000 views After just a day or two. I’m pretty sure they listed the whole conversation on their website. Let me go look and if so I will post it to you.
@@PatientenO.T. that's such a shame they made you remove it, especially since they didn't make it available on youtube so why did they have to stop you from posting it. it makes sense you can't film people asking the questions because of their privacy but as far as his answers go i don't really see the problem unless he specifically requested not to be filmed
@@theculturebunker yeah, it was pretty stupid. I can’t even find the full interview on their site. I thought that they had sent me a link to it but I can’t find it at the moment in my email I have prepared that clip for you. I am not sure how to get it to you without getting another big ugly strike from this site. Are you on any other social media sites or I could pass it to you safely? I am on Tumblr and Facebook.
I've never understood why people don't like him. He's just really dry and sarcastic. I find his humour is hilarious... people are just too sensitive, I suppose?
yeah, i guess he can appear a bit harsh sometimes because he's very direct about his opinions, but it's not like the stuff he says is actually problematic or meant as offensive
Could you possibly do a video of just the interview at the beginning with him and Rowland? I would love to share it in the Nick Cave group that I’m in. I’ve never seen that much of that interview.
i think this is the whole interview including the parts i used th-cam.com/video/bHaqiwKKeCg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=k55e-xpl5qfj-5VP, but yeah i could make one with the subtitles
Nick has put up with so many stupid questions over the years. He was notoriously hard to interview, but he was so funny when he messed with the journalists in his deadpan humor.
it's so weird how often his humorous remarks got totally overlooked by the interviews. i think he's hilarious
@@theculturebunker oh I know!! They totally never catch his humor.
It’s still there, though it’s calmed down somewhat.
Wouldn't it be good if musicians of these times were honest and witty or made great music.
that would be great but it seems to be rare somehow
I like him and his opinion. I do not think he is arrogant,he is just very CLEAR and many people cannot cope with that !
true i think many people just want to hear the sugarcoated version of things
This is great, he can be an arrogant prick at times so this is refreshing to see. Nothing changes the fact the music is king, king, king, KING! 😎
he can definitely come across as arrogant sometimes but it's not like he actually thinks he's better than everyone...he's pretty self-conscious . i feel like people don't really get his sense of humour and take everything he says too seriously
