A couple years ago, I had picked up just the gearbox from one of these. Does the front end have a sprocket differential or is it similar to the rear with a fixed axle but with the u-joint and CV axle ends? I'm wanting to make a 4x4 project and I haven't been able to find any pictures of the front end of one of these things at all. Not unless I get a shop manual.
If you picked up a 90's model from the 4x4 style they had some all chain driven! Mine has 3 chains and you have to tighten them in a certain order to get all 3 tight. Not all had the sprocket drive though but they are easy to find around here. I have two scramblers 400 4x4 and one 400l 4x4 they all run one scrambler threw a bearing but does still run just needs rebuilt but all 3 have the sprocket drive. So really just depends because they were putting both out at the same time.
If there is a counterbalance oil. small but important other 400's anyhow, the dipstick is under the air filter housing in the belly if the beast, 10" or so down there.

That is a very good looking machine . I have one just like it. Have you noticed if or how often the cooling fan turns on. Mine hasn't turned on and i was kind of concerned .

It's a solid front end

This machine is oil injected, no mixing necessary.

What’s the max speed
I’m not sure on the top speed but if I had to guess, I would say somewhere around 45 - 50mph.
I top out about the same 50 to 55.
I topped mine out like at 85

my buddy told me they have a issue with the fan or the relay that works it or something like that so I'd deffinetly look into it
I wired mine to a toggle cuz it was doing the same for me
They have to be blistering hot to kick on, I think it’s like 210. Let it idle for a half hour in probably will
