1 - I'd ask Peachy how that whole "We can't copyright it" worked out for 40K? People can still use third-party models like the Space Templars and Space Knights that just so happen to look like Space Marines. It's a moot point because those people who are willing to go to third party companies for their miniature aren't gonna care about GW's copyright if GW doesn't provide the models needed. Like back in 5th edition where they weren't supplying models for the units they wrote like the Tervigon/Tyrannofex and Thunder wolf Cavalry. They couldn't stop Chapter House Studios from making the models or the parts for Space Marines. 2 - We were starved for new models, they just didn't invest in the game. I mean the Dwarf tank would've made sense, because why would they have flying machines yet no ground tanks; It feels like missing a step to me? They're multiple models that needed remakes and options in their unit rosters that just weren't supported. For example a new book out a couple of large monsters, and then silence. Tomb Kings never got updated Infantry or cavalry and even today we're still playing with models made in 1993. There's still models from the 80s. 3 - I feel GW was just creatively bankrupt when it comes to the lore of their games. Just like 40K, Fantasy had hundreds of years of unexplored history, moments in time where they could've done anything they wanted but didn't. On a sales-perspective we never got a campaign book about the first Vampire Wars or any of the Chaos Invasions from the previous twelve Everchosen. It's why I didn't like the idea of advancing the story in both Fantasy and 40K with the End Times; You've got 10,000 years of galactic history to explore in 40K, and like 6-7 centuries in Fantasy, not to mention the mention of nations and places like Cathey, Nippon, Albion and Ind. 4 - The real issue was it wasn't selling because they half-arsed the support. It also doesn't help that the game got larger and larger by reducing point costs of models so that people in store were given the choice of spending £26.50 on ten Space Marines for their tactical squad, OR spend £18.00 for ten Empire State Troops... But need four of them to make one unit, costing the hobbyist £72. Few were gonna pay that much for one unit as that same £72 could get you two tactical marine sets and a character giving you the foundation for an army. The rules flexed more to pay to win, get more models and drown the other player in bodies with the horde rule. Age of Sigmar sells well because the majority of it is new models, I'm sure most of the old fantasy models are just sat there and languished until they were replaced. Having a poster boy army helps too; 40K has Space Marines, AoS has Stormcast and Fantasy had no one. Most of the factions aren't easy to paint and the ones that are aren't the heroic factions; the easy being undead (both VC & TK) and Warriors of Chaos.

AOS lore wise is meh. WHFB Old World is far more rich, interesting and full of detail. GW should've waited put it on the back burner because the Vermintide and Total War series have revitalised peoples interest.

Really sad that this is the last video this guy made. You can tell this killed his enthusiasm.

GW killed fantasy and released round bases to compete with the Warmahordes and get its playerbase. and they won this war. And they killed it to not have two fantasy games. Total war franchice was building as planned to build fanbase and lore, in order to rerelease square bases in the future, when aos fanbase stabilises. Its kinda weird we have two fantasy games now, and 40k is still 10x more popular than the two games combined heh

I love GW thinking that re-naming Orcs to Orrucks or whatever somehow made them original. A lot of fantasy does that now, like you can slap whatever stupid name you want on your green, warrior, barbarian people, make up some word salad name like Warorcrinons or Borklinkin, but they are still Orcs... the archetype is the same. They are orcs, just call them orcs so people don't have to say whatever dumb name you came up with to sound creative.

It's gonna take another 18 months-ish for them to churn out the remaining original factions and the dogs of war/ Mercs. Once they're done I promise they are going start on the Legacy factions ;) ... They have already stated that old world has sold above and beyond their expectations - and the scope for the project has become a hell of a lot larger than first anticipated. There are other reasons to delays with sorting and posting due to the warhouse issues and logistical problems that are currently being resolved. These have all had an impact on the old world and many of the other smaller specialist games. I say get your dark Elves ready, they will be legal in GW tournaments in the not-so-distant future, and besides 99% of tournaments currently in the UK are independent and just as - if not more enjoyable that GW's GT's. Come back, we miss your content :)

If Empire had a tank I'm sure Dwarfs could have had one. also Sea Elves were supposed to be the next new race.

I don't think they are being honest about WFB's popularity. I remember going to conventions and seeing just as many fantasy fans there with their armies as there was 40K. But then again, we ARE talking about one of the most greedy and low integrity companies that has ever existed. I mean, come on! These guy's trying to copywrite the phrase "space marine" is memeworthy!

These are not reasons..they are EXUSES from INCOMPETENT business people. Version 8 WAS TERRIBLE, overpriced and had a bigger barrier to entry since they required a lot more models to be purchased and painted before you had a painted army.

Age of Sigmar seems so boring from story perspective. 40k story is really interesting. Found it from the phone game and learning about it from the actor Henry playing it. Made me look into the story of 40k, and I really enjoyed it. Checked out AoS, and it was poop. I think 40k is way cooler than AoS, and since it has Superman backing it and there is a phone game, it's clearly the better story. Not to mention Space Marine video game. So yeah AoS is poop.

Well it's out and still dead locally. That said it did enable me to get decent prices for all my old fantasy stuff. GW rules are a dumpster fire excluding kill team. People get hyped and jump in and then the game quickly dies once real people are playing it.

I recently got idea to take up my childhood hobby by collecting and painting Warhammer miniatures.. back then i loved the warhammer fantasy series and never really bought into 40k.. so now i began to search for warhammer factions to pick a group to start off with.. but fantasy has totally vanished.. where did it go? I see 40k's.. then a couple of other warhammer type games/miniatures I found the old world series but only see 3 factions on all the sites i have been looking add.. Orcs/goblins, bretonnians and undead or crypt kings or what they call them..is it really impossible to find the old figures All elves are gone Chaos are gone Dwarfs Skarven Lizardmen And some more.. I miss the selection of all theose faction.. i dont care about the game honestly would just love to find the good old Warhammer fantasy for painting and collecting.. they cant be serious that everything is gone? Any news or plans from them to release more factions to the old stuff or anywhere to find it? Else any suggestions on what game/miniature type to start off looking into?

People wasn't buying it because warhammer special and rare units was sold in metal as a set of 3. For example when I started. 3 dark elf executions was around £8. 21 models was £56. 16 spearmen was £16. So young new player couldn't get good units and was the original pay to win. If all units was plastic then it wouldn't have been a problem and that's where warhammer 40k worked. Most Tanks fell in the £20-£30. A single unit was around £15- £20 regardless off what unit category.

In the end it doesn’t matter I moved to kings of war. I’ve got plenty of spare cash 💴 but at the end of the day I won’t pay GW prices. And I don’t like how restrictive they have made the hobby

Well Old World just leaked it was already cancelled so a year later, no it won’t replace it.

I don't think there are even GW official tournaments in my country, for any of the major GW games, a fact for which I'm very grateful. We do our own thing.

GW: "Hey you, yes you - that guy who bought our figurines and books, they are no longer supported, pull up and buy new ones for 500$" Beech, GW at least allow people to play old models - while you can be selling NEW more detailed versions HD' ones with better sculptor hired and more upscale twists on model, STOP shitting on yours paypig customers!!! To earn more money, make new factions and add new characters - WITHOUT REMOVING OLD ONES, how many times we must teach you old man.

Fingers crossed 🤞 that they just gonna teleport AoS back in time, lol - count me as salty man that wants to protect Fantasy from AoS. I mean yes AoS has bunch not bad ideas, but very dumbed down gameplay, if they wanted to "IMPLEMENT" new stuff - why not just add up to old world, why ruin beloved Fantasy and set fanbase ablaze into madness. AoS more popular because COVID was a thing, and in times of Fantasy... most people didn't had internet nor shitload of money. But looking like GW tries to kill off fanbased with LGBT inclusion to 40K.... welp, seems they using are not very good strategies. Fantasy > AoS < 40K ( So at best chances, AoS good only as source of materials to update Old World Fantasy - by time travelling)

I much prefer the old fantasy to Age of Sigmar. AoS is the Shadowlands of Warhammer.

If a shooting weapon has move and shoot special rule (javelins) I understand that you can march and shoot but do you still suffer the -1 penalty? Clarification would be great, thanks is advance.

This is where I'd point out: - that they did the renaming thing for 40k pretty well - they could have had: the lore shift with the end times leaving behind pockets of the people we know behind saved by a force that has rebuilt the world to something closer to what was known before the end times began with the rebuilding factions becoming new factions based on the ideals of the survivors (giving a reason why names and factions are changing) with the original names being the ancestors they call upon . -because of my previous statement : unlike the age of sigmar though , it'd not completely toss the baby with bathwater ,like they did in their rebuilding

I wasn't around during Fantasy and i'm a year late commenting on this video but here we go. I think the lore was fantastic and the game had issues. I rarely meet (though they do exist) players who played AoS and say 'this is a downgrade' while most people who talk fondly of the old world never talk about the games mechanics ever.

I have a mains powered vortex & nail varnish shaker. Both work well and do the job, especially on older thinker paints. This GSW version is ideal for quick mixing with a ball bearing in the paint bottle, and I found that you need to keep the mixer running for a minimum of 1 minute to get a real mix. Then it mixes really well.

I was a GW loyalist, had 8 warhammer fantasy armies, and spent a lot of time and money on the hobby. Discontinuing warhammer fantasy turned me off the hobby for many years. I basically am just getting back into it now when I heard old world is coming back.

2 things for me killed fantasy and stopped me playing it. 7th Ed deamons, an army that was the most unbalanced army that had ever existed in the game and the subisquent 8th edition rules which took all of the nuance out of the game. 100 man blobs where a stupid meta.

Cannot expand WHF? New units for current factions. Subfactions. Even a new factions are possible. Subterrarean, deep ones from the ocean, new mutations, etc.

And here i am enjoying WHFRP wondering what in the rancid whisky soaked writing room happened with the end times. Its such a fucking mess that as a homebrewer, it made my skin crawl to think if ive ever put something out like that.

I have thousands of points of daemons that I was all ready to play in the old world, the re-release of WHFB jusified my investment into these models. That "no support/ no GW tournament" made me less interested to play. Of the armies that are now tournament legal, I'd be most interested in are the warriors of chaos, not just because I love the new sculpts as opposed to the old ones, but they're just so fun to paint!

Ive already started with chaos warriors but yes without some conversion work they will not rank up. The same will be said with many newer units. Single model units its not as much of a problem. Best case scenario for future models is they supply you with the bases you need for both, maybe both in the box or they give you the bases separately.

I think I prefer the AOS model sculpts. The dragons for example seem anatomically more plausible compared to the old world where they’re very 80’s. I think lord wise. The old world was pretty set. There was no way to expand the globe. With the realms in AOS they can just keep expanding a realms edge as they’re like these islands floating in space.

Have you watched any of the square based TH-cam videos? There is going to be a strong community allowing and supporting legacy factions. Don’t give up!

My dad bought me island of blood accouple months before aos he tried to talk me out of getting it but the high elves were too pretty

Before they killed Warhammer, I had 80% purchased a new Empire Army, which basically stayed unassembled when they killed it, and my two completed Armies stayed in their boxes. With the release of the Old World I was inspired to start painting and assembling that Empire Army. I looked at the new prices as I need 20 greatswords (not that they are available). But looking at the figures that are on their site their prices are ridiculous (12 plastic pilgrims for £50). But looking at the internet I can buy a unit of 20 printed greatswords for about £25, all in different poses.
