The players in the orchestra should all have goosebumps hearing what they're creating! The pinnacle of perfection with Von Karajan conducting the best of the best.

This final of the masterpiece of Mussorsgky is truly supreme , and no exist comparison with the actual music(in Spanish idiom) , that is pure garbage.
最初の7番ホルンのソロは、ウィンナホルンでよいのになあ
Vienna not using a Vienna horn and Berlin not using an Alex 103? My perception of reality has been tossed into chaos. Also, they sound great to me.
The Vienna Philharmonic at that time used a French horn in the ensemble, as it appears in videos with Bernstein or Karajan, and always uses descant when there are high parts like horn excerpts from Symphony no. 6 by Beethoven. And at that time the Berlin Philharmonic used other horns besides the Alexander 103, they even used one that is rare to find today and no longer manufactured, Melchior, which appears in the video of Karajan conducting Pini di Roma in Tokyo.
@@samfelipeantunes I appreciate the insight. I know the Vienna horn is an old design that they returned to at some point. I haven’t had any luck finding when that happened.
♥️♥️♥️
It’s crazy how clear and effortless they sound. Perfect unison 👏 👏.

"When you have gained sight, it's impossible to feign blindness." - Svetlana Stalina [The Iron Lady]
A beautiful solo (!) although a bit understated. Wolfgang Tombock's: Schumann "Adagio & Allegro" comes the closest to Cerminaro's, too. His sound is lovely & carries the old tradition wonderfully. A great post! More please!!

Solo piano it was for but I'll bet mussorsky never knew it could be used for all sorts of stuff especially if this piece called for loud over sized bells 🔔 and gongs. This was like hero music like a big accomplishment has been fulfilled in saving the day heroically.
The bell 🔔 and gong were a perfect touch to the finally I loved it. It was a more convincing ending than others. Pictures at an exhibition made mussorsky saved the perfect song for last in this piece.
The gong is heard nicely. The bell, not so much. Pity.
@@spikespa5208 agreed entirely 😉.
Mahler, the world's most overrated composer.
Nope!
So your not gonna explain why lmao.
@@BerserkRain Why would I presume to explain, when Mahler does it so beautifully for himself?
@@thearcticlord3920 IN YOUR VERY BIASED ARROGANT OPINION.
@@sarahjones-jf4pr All opinions are biased, that is the nature of opinions. I would have been prepared to defend mine in informed debate if it were not for your anger issues.
As an ex student of the French Horn, we all know that our mouthpiece is the smallest, and on entrances, a slight imprecision causes a 'blurb', and not a wrong note. It adds to the beauty of life's imperfections ... a memorable performace offers us something more to remember than this. By the way, there are 4, 5 other highly professional performances on the tube with this same blurb effect. I bet Bruckner wouldn't mind this so very much. I will ask him when we see each other the next time.
Wolfgang Tomböck,bravo!!!!
I am speachless… We are going to play it in our new years concert and I am amazed about how good this sounds. I love this and I am so exicted for this concert❤ ́
Sombría y espeluznantemente bella
It would have been MORE FANTASTIC if he emphasized on the GONGS.
😊

The Shining
Literally what got me here! I saw a video about how Dies Irae appears in many films (the Shining, Star Wars, even the Lion King) and why it's creepy. Also now, knowing this, I kinda wonder if it wasn't used in Peter Jackson's LotR (in Gollum's song, at the end of the Two Towers)
@@andmundinevox It absolutely gets used multiple times, it is the theme everytime the nazgul appear, you can hear it most clearly in the scene where Bilbo drops the Ring in Bag End

What an amazing job Ravel did orchestrating this piano piece.
Ein Meisterwerk für sich
Herbert von Karajan is a descendant of Armenian immigrants from Macedonia. He was also in awe of the Kiev dynasty.
Mussorgsky is believed to be a Russian from Novgorod, but his family claims his blood is a descendant of the Scandinavian-born Viking prince Rurik. His masterpieces are as popular as Beethoven's, but like Smetana's Moldau, his main theme is probably to honor his ancestors.
Mussorgsky is indeed a descendant of Rurik, the first ruler of Russia and the ancestor of the Russian royal dynasty of Rurikovich.
@@ОльгаГофман-о8у Not Russia. The Moscow Principality is a country of Tatar nobility, And according to German-born Catherine the Great, there are no descendants of the Romanov family who inherited their father's orthodox blood.
Rumors that "the Moscow Principality is a country of Tatar nobility" are greatly exaggerated. The reason for the transition of the Tatar nobility to the service of the Russian sovereigns was the collapse of the Golden Horde in the 16th and 17th centuries. By the end of the 17th century, according to documents, there were 120 noble families of Tatar origin in Russia. On the other hand, 168 families belonged to the most noble family of Rurik; 43 boyar families of Russian origin; 223 noble families were of Polish-Lithuanian origin; 229 Russian aristocratic surnames were of Western European origin.
Dynastic marriages among the monarchs of Europe were the norm. It is not surprising that the wife of Peter III, became the Princess of Zerbskaya (Catherine II) originally from Germany. Most of the reigning monarchs were related to each other. The exception is the Habsburgs, they were famous for a high degree of inbreeding.
strange to almost only see men playing
You play french horn?
Lindo
viennese horn instead of french horn
What are the differences?
What kind of valves are those? Beautifully played.
@@ForYou-ub6uc The horn is basically a single horn that has to be tuned by adding crooks at the beginning - Bb, Eb A etc. It has a different piston vs rotary valve system. It is a bit more difficult to play. Sound wise, slight differences. I have heard this piece in french horn by a skilled player and I cannot tell much of a difference, although, if had to pick, i would go with the french horn. they are regarded by some as the pinnacle of french horn sound. Yet, there are many makers of horns, out there, Alexander, paxman, Conn, Holton, Yamaha, custom made and some custom modified etc. Each has its own quality. I have a custom mod Yamaha and it is better than any I have heard from the list above. At the end of the day, it is the player that makes the difference.

Beautiful Horn playing, as you'd expect from a member of the VPO. This clip also unexpectedly reminded me of how much I loathed Karajan
Death is Life.
It was this solo that made me fall in love with my instrument. Its tone is just so special
Wonderful example of Wolfgang Tomboeck's gorgeous playing, spolied only by being made to see that twat Karajan being pretentious and slimy.
Grande e ancora grande

brilliant and noble
Breathtakingly powerful. For me, the fascinating thing is just how equally powerful the original solo piano work is.
