Always on my mind, what to do, how to do it? Chances are, you will only have, what you took time to prepare. If you still have it! Maybe you only have some of it. Can you adjust? What is the least amount you can get by with? What will you need, to see tomorrow? After watching part 2 I was surprised this set-up didn't work. Must have been a pretty wet /heavy snow. I'm betting that if you would have been using it and been there you could have made adjustments and made it work fine. I love the welding blanket idea.... Maybe a lighter fireproof cloth at a little more angle will work
The welding blanket worked, sort of, but was easily ripped out. The extra weight of the snow, must of had extra tension on two of the corners, that let go under the extra weight. The blanket it's self was really light, but when it was soaked, became very heavy, and with out the fire, it just got to heavy for the corners. In the future I am going to use a small piece of canvas with fire retardant on it. A future project, if it works, I'll make a video out of it, pass along the results. If the fire is protecting you? You need to protect that fire! At least in my way of thinking.
Been a little out of commission last couple days... catching up slowly lol All I can say about this one is 'perseverance' lol I would have givin' up at first inspection. You held fast and whipped it ! Good job !
" if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all" , the song from Hee Haw lmao! I'm glad you are back with us, I was wondering about you, you almost always post a little something, and I hadn't heard from you lately. Sorry you've been feeling bad, my turn to help keep up the Dr. Take care ol buddy, God Bless
Great video Jack! Snow can be a beast. Few TH-camrs show the constant flow of chores needed to keep camp livable. Especially with snow!
Hey Mark! I tried to find you yesterday. Don't give up on me I'll find you sooner or later.
Your place looks like home to me. I’m glad you got snow as long as all are safe. Rare opportunity for the south. Rare as a 50 degree winter day for my area. All the best!
Any excuse to get into the woods, and I have waited for this one a long time. We've had some 60's lately. February is usually when we get out worst weather. Take care.
Love the sound of nature's music in the background
I glad you got enough snow to do your snow camp we had alot of that freezing rain and snow here last night. I've had enough lol
I can see why you would, but this is the best snow we've had in 10 years or so lol
Looks cold out. Get back in the house 14° here
It was in the teens, but the fire made the difference.
I like snow, but I'm not a great fan of the shoveling part. LOL There's about 2 feet of the stuff on my car. A lot of the time I have to extend my shelter to include the fire, Constant drizzle here makes fire tending a hassle. I usually have a chunk of tarp I'm not worried about burning holes in..
@@AlaskanInsights I've been looking into treating a piece of canvas with fire retardant, for fabric, and using it much like I did the welder's blanket. The one in the video was super heavy when it got wet.
@@GrandFatherOutdoors That sounds like a good idea,
i actually see your channel blow up in subs and views in a short time :) keep it up
Thank you for your optimism. God Bless..

Looking a little chilly out there Grandpa. Nice setup and just when it’s getting dark Mama lets you know that supper is just about ready. Chow time! Semper Fi
@stevemick6569 Time to put on the feed bag! For a little while there, I was 12 again, and having a ball.

Great Adirondack Tarp Shelter; one of my favorites. When there is a change of plan, lessons are learned on the fly in the Bush. I really like that Welder's Blanket; I'll have to get one. And yes, batteries are an issue in the cold. I lost two days of video due to battery issues, but we live and learn. Thanks for Sharing and Stay Safe.
Thanks for the words of wisdom my friend. Take care
Suppers about ready! LOL. I loved that one.
I think all that I had was some jerky and a coke. Laid back and enjoyed the moment. Thanks for your time.
That's what I call cool, too. Off-grid amateur radio!
I thought you may like this one!
Did you see the antenna at the end, I explained it somewhat at the end.
@@GrandFatherOutdoors Yep. Seems really handy and versatile while not taking up too much space in the pack.

Really cool. Looking forward to the mods.
I have two more videos on this, next Saturday I post the one with the radio in it. This would be like a multi day shelter for radio. Or most any other activities, but mainly radio! lol

@stevemick6569 Hey Steve! I was beginning to think no one was watching. Folks that I work with thought I quit TH-cam, said they haven't been getting any notifications. Weird this TH-cam thing. Thanks for watching!
I’ve always liked that Backwoods Bungalow but adding those poles is a really great option.
I have three more videos to post on this series. They where too long to put in to one or two videos. Next one should be out Saturday. Good to see you.
@ I watched the 3 videos you have on the setup, a little binge watching while having coffee this morning.
@alf3553 There should be five right now, number six will be up in the morning. Give you something to do while you drink your morning coffee .
Hey Mr Ed. Good to see you’re still making videos 👍. TH-cam showed me your Bravo shelter video today & I subbed with 10 seconds as soon as I saw it was you.

Well Grandpa, the setup is looking good and functioning great! Even past the rain test! Semper Fi

Whelp! There you go again! Trying to get me to buy another tent. On the one hand, my wife should be proud of me for not buying any guns these last two weeks....Hmm🤔 😆 Keep up the good work! 😆
@josephmorgan3715 I've been looking at it, for a year or two, when they first came out with. Thinking, that's right down my ally. Finally pulled the trigger on it. And glad I did. When the bugs come out, I'm protected, I can still look and see the outdoors staring back. I like that.
