    So, you're using a digital interpretation of an analogue compressor to compare to a purely digital creation of a compressor? How about doing a comparison of your digital analogue to a hardware comp? I mean, there's plenty of those videos out forever now, but, isn't that the way you should be comparing the two?

    I didn’t think I would be able to hear any difference being that this is on TH-cam, but I did. The first one and the third one had a lot of mid and was airy. The Scarlett sounded really good and well balanced.

    I picked correctly. Some famous engineer that I can't recall, said it best: Analog sounds like the instrument is coming from inside of it. Digital sounds like it's been placed on top of the audio.

    • @MillerMusic
      @MillerMusic 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! I usually record all of my tracks in mono. If I want a particular instrument to have a stereo effect. Are used two different microphones for the instrument. For example overhead mics on a drum. Then I will pan them right and left. When bouncing tracks down I always bounce them to a stereo track to preserve the right and left balance. Does that help?

    Hey in this video are you routing 2 mono tracks to the same bus or is it just one mono track? Busses are stereo, so let's say I use amp sims for my guitar sound they have spacial FX so should it be best to put the amp plugin on.the bus itself and just have my 2 mono tracks routing.to that bus to double track . This is just a little confusing thanks

    • @MillerMusic
      @MillerMusic 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey! Thanks for the question. Yes, I would try putting your amp SIM on the bus track and then route your two mono tracks to that bus. Unless you want to use two different amps. In which case I would use two different amps on the mono tracks and then route that to the bus for the remainder of the effects.

    • @ripperthecrooks6428

    It's a great video, tho unfortunately fundamentally flawed. Noiseless single coil pickups are actually stacked coils , meaning they have two coils like a humbucker, only they are stacked on top of each other, and half as shallow, to fit them in a single coil plastic jacket. They do, however, voice them as single coils, somehow, with their voodoo witchcraft!, so I totally get the oversight. Unfortunately for you, it undermines your entire findings / position. 🤷‍♂️ OUCH! I do think you could remake this video with a true single coil tele, and expect it to do well. Or even make it a 3 way shootout: • true Tele single coils • Tele noiseless • Tele humbuckers

    • @MillerMusic

      Hey, thank you for your reply! Yes, I am aware that noiseless pick ups aren’t actually true single coils. I didn’t have a true single coil pick up on a telly to do a comparison. That is a great idea for another video though. Thanks for the feedback!

      @MillerMusic หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thanks for the comment. It does depend on the room. Each room is a little different as to what exactly is needed. Thanks.

    • @Fred_Free
      @Fred_Free หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MillerMusic I just covered some basic rules that apply to most rooms over 5 meters in length. At best, your panels can remove some reflections in higher frequencies, it will be like an eq on the room reflection. Low frequencies are not affected at all. It is good to dampen early reflections (built-in wall speakers) and have a diffuse return of at least 15-20 ms after the direct sound. To dampen base reflections, porous absorbers are needed in the longitudinal direction of the room (the back wall) (broadband absorption, rock wool of at least 2 to 4 dm).

    Drums are the obvious victim of compression, but I think vocals may be the biggest: People don't even know what vocals _sound like_ in real life, when someone is singing, because they've only been exposed to very compressed vocals on recordings like this, albums and the like. Being able to sing quiet and loud is a huge emotional component to singing, which is rarely allowed to flourish. I think that the completely uncompressed vocal track does have a kind of "amateurish" sound to it, but I think it's because it sounds like the singer is literally in a bedroom singing, whereas the compressed one has that glossy "produced" sound that makes it feel automatically "more professional"; however, I think this is a trick, and if one were to get accustomed to less compressed vocals, he'd be able to develop a substantially greater appreciation for the art of singing because he'd be able to hear all the magnificent nuances of volume changes that are simply not there on modern productions. You're probably an excellent producer, but I personally think the entire music production world lost its mind forty years ago and we're still seeing the effects of that rolling over and overlapping today, for no other reason than it's "what's considered normal."

      Hey Brian, yes. The splitter on the drum bus is parallel compression. I used the fat channel. Just did a video two weeks back on my exact settings on this.

    are you using only the stock plugins to mix the track? especially the song in this video?

    • @MillerMusic
      @MillerMusic 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, just stock plug-ins from Studio One.

    Why do yu just start the video like that instead of showing how you got the tracks on the right side ?

      If you want to get the tracks like I have them set up, all you have to do is drag them in to the project page and studio one automatically set it up like that. Does that answer your question?

    I failed my first home recording attempt. I really threw everything at the wall to see if it would stick and figuratively put my head through the wall. Now im gearing up to try again, researching tips to have a different experience. One thing i read was its better to play to a drum track than a click (i play guitar) theres more feel instead of a monotone droning on and on.

      Glad to hear you’re trying again. Yes I think as a guitar player you play much better with drums than a metronome. More realistic feeling

    Don't have an option to create a mix bus or an fx bus

      Try right clicking on any of the tracks in the mix window and it should pop up for you.
