    The fall colors are dull. Every year I waited for the brightness and beauty, and even the mountains were just different shades of brown. Nothing like the north. Cold nights make for breathtaking colors and crisp, sweet/sour apples. I finally left the Charlotte area after 30 years to head back north. Everyone there thought we were crazy, but I LOVE 4 seasons, beautiful falls and snowy winters. NC is NOT for everyone. Jobs are the only real reason that I can see to live in the development-owned local govts allowance of unregulated growth of the outskirts of Charlotte, traffic and population growth that the local govts are not prepared to handle the infrastructure needed for it all. Why aren't the developers forced to pay for the extra/widening roads, needed schools and all of the other headaches that come with moving thousands of families into towns that were built for 5000 people, tops? Instead it's is left up to the taxpayers to wait decades for improvements caused by the developers moving in, building cheap housing for the mcmansion subdivisions every 100 yards, and then they are gone, leaving the stunned population to clean up and PAY FOR their mess. I was just curious to see what was behind this 'recommended' headline, I didn't realize it was a real estate video.

      @@RobertBee-fs8hv you’ve obviously never been north of the Mason-Dixon Line in October. Only someone who has never seen the true brilliance of fall could ask that question. Venture into the northern tier states in September or October (depending on how north you go) you may discover that life is actually worth seeing outside of the grind.

    NC drivers need to realize that because another driver needs to merge over into your lane, they are NOT trying to "cut you off." Everyone knows how the lanes drop off quickly here and moving and merging is NECESSARY.....again, it's NOT personal! But many drivers insist on running up behind me, blowing their horn, and having a hissy fit even after I signaled my intention, increased my speed (which was already over the speed limit) and moved over as best as I possibly could.

    Some folks from Charlotte bought a home in my neighborhood recently. They paid a third more than the home was worth ($200,000 more), and started remodeling immediately although the home was recently renovated. Several weeks and many $thousands later it looks much worse than when they started. Where do people this dumb get their money?

    • @livinginnorthcarolina

      Unfortunately, having money does not mean you have taste… I’ve seen plenty of houses that have been renovated that are absolutely atrocious. It’s a shame because then somebody else has to spend all that extra money to fix it and the house will never sell if it’s that much over. Unbelievable! It ruins the entire neighborhood. Maybe when they have to take a loss on the house they’ll learn a lesson. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

    I've lived in NC 22 years and love it. It's not the perfect state as every place has its flaws, but I love that it's very seasonal, you got beaches to the east, mountains west of the state and it's very green and fall is gorgeous here. I live in Cary, the only things I don't like specifically within the Raleigh area are the way some people drive, not everyone but a good number of people here drive like maniacs. If you're going 10 and 15 mph over the speed limit then there should be no reason why a person should feel the need to be all up on someone's bumper as if they aren't going fast enough. Where I'm from that's good way to get into a fight or worse. Other than that no other complaints.

      I love Asheville! I love the mountains and the beauty of it all. I appreciate the good food, neat art, and in my experience, the people have been awesome.

      We get pretty busy in the summer and especially on holidays! There are a lot of parades and fireworks so the main body of water has a lot of traffic but the coves are normally wonderful if you want to dock and hang out

    Is this the same town where Dale Earnhardt lived? Just curious.

      Yes and Dale Earnhardt Jr still lives here. Just down the street from where we live! He is often seen around town being a normal person.

    This looks like a fabulous little city. I'd love to try The Chophouse. Plenty of benches to sit and sip on some coffee and enjoy the scenery. I'll have to check out this little town.

    Just tell everyone that has to move here not to turn this place into the craphole that they just left. Mooresville is the original 10lbs of crap in a 2lb bag.

    Not being negative, just giving a different point of view. We bought a place here15 years ago from upstate NY. The traffic has gotten crazy all over, when we go back to visit, it's just as bad there. The humidity in NY is worse than down here, it can get pretty hot there, but it feels hotter even when the temperature isn't as high, because it's so humid. The pollen was just as bad covering our vehicles in NY. My allergies as well as my son's allergies have been a lot better down here, to the point where I rarely use medicine anymore. I think a lot of that is because it doesn't get as much snow and rain here, so there is less mold spores in the air. Now as for bugs... I hate bugs, we didn't have palmetto bugs or fire ants, which was great, but there were many times the mosquito's would litterally swarm us, you could rarely go outside without getting eaten alive. I think we've seen less than 5 mosquito's since we moved here, and we're outside all the time. Which is another big plus for living down here. We rarely had a string of pleasant days up there, it was either way too cold, or too hot and humid. I wouldn't complain at all.

      @livinginnorthcarolina หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is the humidity in NY worse, omg, I did not know that! Wow, I have never been to NY. I am so glad your allergies are better. We have had to go through adult onset allergies with my husband. He has been miserable but that could have happened to him in Ohio too. I just read that Charlotte is the 9th worst state for mosquitos, ugh! I agree that NC is wonderful, these are very small issues that do not even really matter when life is good. I love it here, even with these minor things.
