In response to the last part of the video with the tractor map, Africa has a lot more tractors than developed countries like the United States because it has a lot more family-run, small farms. A lot of the farming in Africa is subsistence farming, which is why there are a lot more small farms to support individual families, with each family owning a tractor. In more developed countries, there is more commercial farming, with bigger farms run by fewer people, so there are fewer individuals who have tractors.

With the communist agriculture in China, the reason why they failed is not that people didn’t want to work. The communes were actually so enthusiastic, with workers working long days, to outdo the other communes that they reported producing more rice than they actually did to the government, and so got taxed more than they could spare. The government was too obsessed with industrializing and pushed its money (and rice) to industrial workers to increase exports, without supporting the farmers as much asthey needed to. Then locusts and natural disasters made the whole thing worse and the situation spiraled into a famine.

If the “c” in calories is uppercase, it indicates a large calorie, and if it’s lowercase, it indicates a small calorie. A large calorie estimates the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 kg (2.2 pounds) of water by 1°C (or an increase of 1.8°F) (1Trusted Source). On the other hand, a small calorie estimates the amount of energy it takes to raise the temperature of 1 gram (0.035 ounces) of water by 1°C (or an increase of 1.8°F) (1Trusted Source). By these definitions, 1 large calorie equals 1,000 small calories, as 1 kg equals 1,000 grams. To avoid confusion between large and small calories, it’s thought that the term kilocalorie - the prefix “kilo” meaning 1,000 - was created to refer to a large calorie (1Trusted Source). However, the term small calorie is rarely used today outside of physics and chemistry research. Instead, the terms calories - capitalized or not - and kcal are used interchangeably and refer to the same amount of energy in relation to food or energy burned with exercise. Therefore, you don’t need to convert them, as 1 kilocalorie equals 1 calorie in nutrition.

Icelandic is NOT isolated. It is from the Germanic Language Family, Northern Germanic branch similar to Norwegian and Danish. You also need to work on learning the proper pronunciation of simple terms like "Lingua Franca" (Leeng-gwah Frahn-kah)
