Welcome To My Allotment! 🌸
มุมมอง 7302 หลายเดือนก่อน
🌸 Welcome to my Allotment 🌸 I've been slowly working on clearing this once overgrown allotment since September 2023. I'm brand new to owning an allotment, having only grown a handful of things in my back garden (and my nans green house). If you want to follow along with the growing journey here, I'd really appreciate a subscribe! 🌸
I think that big beetle was a Maybug 🤣 I also had one fly passed me the other day and it frightened the life outta me 💀 Your tomatoes are looking huuuuge!🍅 I also feel like I don't have enough stuff or variety of things to plant out 🤣 but I think it'll all come together in the next few weeks when everything starts filling out 🥰
What I find good when doing small hoops is thin poles or bamboo canes then cut up old hose poles to put on top.then chuck netting over. Also this might work on your bean arch.😊
There's a lot doing great !Brassicas hate heat and would be disastrous in a polytunnel whereas your squash or courgettes would love it .I think your planting way way too much Amie but good luck 🙂
Every year sow peas, but the sparrow's in my garden in New Zealand are viscous, eat brassicas, lettuce, chard, spinach, have dust baths when every carrots and beetroot is sown. All is netted. Have had a tunnel house since the middle of our summer, have sown some in there, as our summers can be too hot and winters too cold.
Squash take a lot of room i put 3 in a bed last year the leaves are bigger than courgettes
Great work, always look forward to seeing your allotment vlogs
Hi there Amy always take out the little suckers don’t let them become mother suckers -good job I’ve not had a drink
My poor chard has leaf miners 😢 most likely my own fault I planted it in the same spot as my beets last year that had it 🤦🏼♀️. I will have to sow again in a different place. Oh I need to sow more spring onions. I potted on my squash to allow them to get a bit bigger (slugs are everywhere 🤬). Glad your carrots germinated and things are going fabulously. Have a super week Amie and happy gardening 👩🌾, Ali 🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
Spot on amie nice to see your enthusiasm take care. 🥦🥒🍅👍👍
Keep up the good work Amie I enjoy tuning in to see your progress looking forward to your next posting.
Looking so good! I'm getting so much good information from your videos :D x
❤❤❤
You are doing wonderful!
Thank you so much!
Yay! I love the bean arch! It's going to look so good when they get growing 😍your plot is looking amazing! so much green already 🌱 Those darn slugs 🥲 Hope you can get some pak choi to survive 🥲💖
Woah!! Tomatoes are out 😱 Now I'm feeling well behind 🤭 I love how you've tied the canes to the polytunnnel structure, they look like they'll be super sturdy! So excited to see your tomatoes grow 🥲🍅 (lol and thank you for the shout out back! 🤣) 💖💖💖
It's all looking so good Amie 🥲💖 I love the rose arch that you share with your neighbour! Now I want one for the entrance to my plot too 😅
🐝thanks for the great video🌻
Thanks for watching 💕
Great job improvising the bean structure💥
Aha thank you! I hoping it’ll look great with the beans all grown
Plot is looking great , beans will grow over the top of arch ,it’ll be fine 🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛🫛All my pac Choi bolted and flowered 😂 but good for the pollinators I guess.
Yes, hopefully it’ll look really good once they’re grown 😁 I think I’ll give up with Pak Choi for this year 🙈
Wow Amie ,arch looks great 9 beans award lol ! Peas are really coming along .What about just throwing a teepee in one of the beds .Avoid by the polytunnel as the cover gets roasting 🙂 All the beds are so good ,well done 🎉 Happy growing 🌻
Try pak choi in hanging baskets I do 💪💪
Wow Amie it’s all looking amazing and full of life. A month ago it was all freaking out and worry well here anyway 😅😅. Should be a fabulous season for all 👍👍. Have a simply amazing week Amie and happy growing, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻 I hope everything’s going well for you!
Everything is looking amazing x oh and I forgot to say I love the nail color
Thank you 😁
I look forward to seeing how your flax does, it's not a plant I'm familiar with. Really enjoyed this, thank you Amie.
Me too! I hope it gives some pretty flowers 🌹 hoping to harvest the seeds 🤞🏻
Fast becoming one of my fav channels , nice to see those tats , im curious though theres one on your right arm looks like carrots 😁😁🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕😁😁🤣🤣🤣, do you have carrots tattoed on your arm ??, the bean structure yes hmm, id have run a cane at the top each side for strength before attaching the netting , i built a new one this year to take 36 plants as a walk way through 2 of my beds, but i used 3x2 and metal rods
Ahaha yes, all the tattoos on my right arm are vegetables 😆 I was thinking maybe I should have put another up the top. I can still add some so I’ll give it a go 😁
Loving your videos, I’ve bought a couple of tomato plants which I’ve never grown before and will be trying lettuce, peas and carrots, I’m a beginner so enjoying following you for tips , your plot is looking great 😊
Tigerella tomato grows alright outside my polytunnel here in Scotland. It's an outdoor tomato I found out a year ago and it didn't get blight. I am still babying 4/5 of my Sungold inside grow lights because they're my household's favourite. Everything's looking good on your end. Your peppers look so much healthier than mine.... oops 😂
My bank holiday Monday was used up watching all of your videos, and what a joy they were to watch. You seem very comfortable in front of the camera and your videos are very well put together, well done Amie 😁 Looking forward now to the next update from from your vlog. I've just started out my own channel, and I wish had your video making skills! A tip for you regarding grow lights, your lights look like they are too far away from the plants especially the smaller ones, which I suspect is why they're stretching out the way they are as there isn't enough light reaching them. Now that you've planted out your tomatoes, you should be able to get more light to the remaining plants which will help them. What type of growlights are you using?
Oh thank you!
Put yoghurt pots on the top of the bamboo to stop them wearing through the poly tunnel❤
Thank you! Yes I was wondering what I could use for that 😁
Great idea with the pasting table, think I can fit a couple of those on the terrace for extra growing space.
Go for it!
I grow the Czar runner beans, and I keep all mine for dried beans. You'll love them I'm sure as the beans are super tasty. Last summer I had a huge crop from mine, and fingers crossed I get the same again this year.
😂😂 I had a few wheelbarrow runs out back the other day to get mine outside. Put my tomatoes out the other day and they seem ok so far in the cold. Just bury the leggy tomato plants deep they will find a way. 😂😂 me too I took them out of pots and lost what they were 🤦🏼♀️. Over 500 subs way to go Amie, happy gardening, Ali 🌧️🌤️🇨🇦
Another lovely video, Amie. Thanks for sharing!! ♡
Thanks so much! 😊
Your polytunnel is looking well tidy, tidier than my house!
Ahaha it was a right mess just before 🙈 it probably won’t stay tidy for long
amie to protect your decorating table lay some polythene across the top. just a thought 🍅🥒🥦👍👍
Ah yes what a great idea! Thank you!
All of your plants look so healthy amazing job and you make want to better myself which is a good thing so yeah thank you 👍
Thank you!
Well done Amie you did a brilliant job on all the tomatoes 🍅
Thank you! I hope they do okay in the pots 🤞🏻
Nettle tea can start being used after 3 weeks, and can be added to all during the year. Do not use on root vegs. 1 part tea to 10 part water.
I suggested the nettle strulch chop up with brambles for extra protection and change often 50 odd years ago clearing my grandads allotment I noticed no slug or snails living in the bramble and nettle patch been using it ever since happy gardening Richard x
Jerusalem artichokes have the unfortunate second name of fartichokes!😊 They spread like mad and have a ton of tubers. If you can tolerate them you will have produce for ever. They have a beautiful flower too.
Ahaha oh no 🙈 I mainly bought them for the flower as they’re like mini sunflowers 🌻
@@AmiesAllotment Good plan! 🤣 That's what I do too.
Love the Nettle strulch idea,i will be giving it ago. I had one of those cold frames from Lidl last year but it didn't last long as the wind took it. Can i ask where you got your tree cabbage seeds from as this is one thing i would like to have in my veggiegarden. Your plot is coming along lovely 😊
Thank you so much! Yes, the nettle strulch was an idea given by a comment here 😁 oh no! I’ll make sure I really anchor it down if the winds look high…it’s not sturdy at all, is it 🙈 I got the tree cabbage seeds from Real Seeds 😁
@@AmiesAllotment no it's not sturdy, anchor it down I had some wood and a brick along the top but that didn't stop it from being took by the wind. Thank you I will have a look and order some tree cabbage seeds.
Oh nettle strulch good idea. Flowers on the broad beans is a great sign mine haven’t done that yet. I agree you may need to put the cold frame inside 🤞🤞. I don’t pot on my cosmo and marigold flowers 😅 I just leave them as is and pot out when big enough. I put my poor tomatoes outside today. The first smaller pots should work for the flowers. Hope all is well have a marvellous weekend Amie, Ali 🌤️🇨🇦
Thank you! Yes, most of the broad beans now have flowers, I’m so excited! Oooh I hope your Tomatoes are okay!
The nettle tea can be used after two weeks and mix it 1 part to ten parts water .You can use it on most things 🙂Yes your cosmos and asters ect all need potting individually They should all be fine in the polytunnel now .
Thank you! I’ll take them up there ready for potting them up 😁 a lot of back and forth with plants at the moment 🙈
Use the nettle or any weed tea on anything or any plant, used it on half the corn plants last summer, those ones produced 2 to 4 cobs per plant, the other plants produced 1 and tried a second cob, plant sizes were also so different. The nettle/weed tea fed corn plants were big and bushy.
Ah thank you! I wasn’t sure if there were certain things that didn’t like it 😁 that’s good about the increase in yield!
🐝thanks for the great video🌻 subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
Windmills are fab I use them a lot x
I may have to get some more as there are some greedy little blackbirds about 🙈
Alot of those seedlings are looking quite leggy, time to get them some sunshine and potted on , runner beans, im growing red flowering and peach flowering , i dont bother blanching, just shred at an angle, bag and freeze , also dry lots, some for eating some for next years seed, coz thats free😁😁😁😁😁😁🥰🥰
Yes, they are not loving life in the conservatory and the days are still so dull! I’ll move them all to the polytunnel and hopefully they’ll do a lot better. Oooh I bet the peach ones will look amazing 😍
Put the cold frame in the poly tunnel
hey , i had 4 of those coldframes, first storm they all got launched into the stratasphire and fell to pieces , as for the artichokes, let them die right back, then cut off the dead stuff, when ready dig up the tubers and put one back in the hole for next year, i tend to put 2 back, one in the hole and one in a new place to increase my stock ,,,,,,,, right ill carry on watching the vid
Unfortunately the artichokes all got eaten 🙈 I have 2 plants left so I will defend them with all that I have when they’re popped in!
I have a cheap Wilko cold frame. I just used a few little brackets to screw it to raised beds next to it. Lasted a few years so far, and hasn't budged.
Omgosh no! hahah I hope your cold frame hasn't been launched into the stratosphere yet Amie! 😬🤣
What a lovely plot you have there, Amie! You look like you're doing a good job! ♡
Thank you so much ❤️
