How I Open Up to Process Layers of Loss
Loss is not a singular event for most of us. Nothing is permanent. I have lost many people I love over the years, and each one highlights the complexity of the process of grieving. When a new loss occurs I tend to hunch.... you know, letting your shoulders fall forward, slouching, looking down, with the weight of your grief bearing heavy on your shoulders. Having a heavy heart will pull us energetically forward as if our heart is too heavy to carry. To release the physical discomfort of that in my body I practice different yoga asanas to open myself up, as if I'm shedding that weight off of my back.
In this video I share some of these with you. These poses are good for people of all abilities, no prior yoga experience is necessary. I do demonstrate Wheel Pose here, but I recommend you only include this if you have it as part of your regular practice already and do not have any neck issues. Otherwise please stay in Bridge Pose as an alternative.
