Addend is an electronic instrumental studio project based on a mix of spacey guitars, synthesizers, and complex drum beats. This is great music for chilling out to.
This solo project is run by Jay who plays guitars and keys, and programs drumbeats, splices samples and loops. Jay is inspired by the likes of Boards of Canada, Bonobo, The XX, Radiohead, Ratatat, Apparat, Christian Loffler and Felix Laband.
Gear includes guitars, synths, and drum machines mostly the OP-1, Ableton Push 3, Digitakt and Octatrack.

Octatrack and friends jam - using the Octatrack to create B-sections
I'm using an Octatrack template that I made that makes it easier to do b-sections and c-sections. Doing a fun little jam with the EP-133 and OP-1 field.
I will post an explainer video for the template soon!

Massive Attack on the Digitakt
มุมมอง 2.9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I did a cover of "Teardrop" by Massive Attack on the amazing Digitakt II. This song was both easier and harder than I expected, with some very interesting parallel keys in A major and A minor. A big thanks to the West Coast Jam group for letting me share the cover! #coversong #dawless #digitakt #digitakt2 #electronicmusic #massiveattack #elektron
EP133 with crazy delay (cover of "Nil" by Christian Loffler)

Trying to recreate one of my favorite songs by Christian Loffler on the amazing EP133. This groovebox has limitations but it still is a lot of fun. I had fun experimenting with the delay effect. #coversong #dawless #ep133 #teenageengineering #christianloffler The backup of the EP133 project is here: drive.google.com/file/d/1-MUVmIATZF_Vqmv3AzvbJLWZUu0pat4F/view?usp=sharing

This is a single box jam with the Digitakt using stock samples to recreate Blue Monday by New Order (just the long intro part). Audio recorded via USB out from the Digitakt. I had fun learning how they programmed their drum patterns which turned out to be very easy. #neworder #dawless #digitakt #newordercovers #bluemonday The Digitakt project file is on the following link. Watch my cat turn a single sample into a song on the Digitakt

This song is entirely based on one sample of my cat meowing ... including drums, bass, synth. I had fun learning about sound design and testing the limits of the Digitakt. My cat Pixie had fun playing the Digitakt too. #digitakt #elektron #dawless #electronicmusic #cat

How much autonomy do the 3 21700 batteries give you?
For me, I appreciate the freedom to take it where ever I want. I get at least 3.5 hours out of a charge.
Nice work! Sounds beautiful
Thanks! Much appreciated!
Love it 👍
Cheers! Much appreciated! 🙏
If the M8 is not for you, then I wonder amazing how songs will be when you work with a tool that suits you. This song, and the video that goes with it, is outstanding!
Thanks for those kind words! Much appreciated!
My m8 comes tomorrow and this was super inspiring. Such a great use of acoustic instruments on the m8.
Cheers! Thanks for that. Hope you enjoy your M8
Outstanding
Cheers! I appreciate it!
Awesome! how do ou know how much juice is still in there?
Cheers! There's a voltmeter that you can stick into the power input that I've seen people use. I just keep in mind that I have 3.5 hours of solid time and I charge it when it's close to that.
www.elektronauts.com/t/digitakt-modified-with-internal-battery/91600?page=5
How long does a full charge last you?
I consistently get a solid 3.5 hours out of a charge while constantly playing. I ran it to empty and got it to just under 4 hours, but I try not to do that.
Amazing! Too bad that elektron didn’t think about an option to put and external native battery system for the digitakt 2.
I agree ... I think there would many takers for that option!
Absolutely, probably more than they think
i am still baffled didnt put one in genuinely wondering why they decided to ommit it
Dope jam! ✨💯✨💯

I built M4L device where push does my laundry
The Ableton push great asset in music productions👍🎼
Cheers! I've tried many times to come up with another live performance option, but the Push 3 really can do it all.
Thanks for posting this -- it's always good to hear some practical tactics for real-world live performance with the Push 3 in SA mode. Plus your stuff sounds great!
Thanks very much! Yeah - I'd love to learn more about how others are using the SA mode. It definitely takes a bit of extra effort.
No integrated usb c charging port though? So you have to crack your digitakt open every time you want to recharge the batteries???? Yikes
Nope. That wouldn't make sense. Just have to plug in the standard power adaptor and it charges the batteries. Works just fine.
Sick dude!
@@maxernst8252 Cheers! Appreciate it!

hey i found your video via the forum talking about using looper in standalone push 3 -- can you described how you got it to work triggering the overdub/record/play are you using a foot pedal and did you midi map it synced to your PC first? thanks
Hey! Sure. I put the looper on my "Instrument in" and "FX" bus, and I set it up with "x bars" so that it can be any length. All I did was midi-map the start/play/overdub button to the record button, the stop button to the stop button, the undo button to the left arrow and the clear button to the right arrow. I'm not using a foot pedal. I always design my sets while hooked up to my Mac and then finalize everything and then collect all and send to the stand-alone. It works perfectly every time. The first time you set it up on stand-alone you may need to go into midi settings and explicitly choose the nanokontrol to connect. Hopefully this helps you get going, but let me know if you have any other questions.
I especially like it at the 1:20 min mark
Cheers! Thanks for the feedback!
This one was really CATchy !
Ha ha! Cheers!
Awesome stuff! You and my buddy C.Gen on Soundcloud would get along. ❤
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for mentioning C.Gen! I checked out a track and it sounds great. I’ll be listening to more for sure!
TH-cam in 5 years: cats dominate production, while a number of cat-free musicians stream their pawless jams.
Sounds like a credible prediction!
kitty lulz. thanks for the fun vid :)
cheers! it was a fun one to put together!
We were there, for the birth of catcore.
Ha ha! Yeah - I love it!
Great, now hipster cats are taking our jobs!
First the cats, next it will be AI, then Skynet!
Well this is just fantastic 👏👏
Thanks, Hexwave! A bit silly, but a bit fun.
whoa~
Nice. How did you map the nano? Bought it recently, but somehow the encoders are acting really weird…
Cheers! I used the "Korg Kontrol Editor" software to set my Global Midi Channel to 1, all of the knobs and faders to unique CC numbers (one for each knob), and all of the buttons to midi notes. Then I built a set in Ableton on my computer and assigned my FX rack controls using the Ableton "Midi assign". I saved the set and then copied it onto the stand alone. Then on the stand alone I went into settings (gear icon), Midi and then selected "Track, Sync, and Remote". After I set it up once it reliably works every time. Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know if not!
@@addendmusic thx
The best i have heard on this thing. Most people just make chip tune jams and i hate to see a piece of gear of this potential to be undermined like that.
Thanks for the feedback! The mini can really do so much more than chip tune!
Sick performance! Love the breathy vocals and the grungy bassline 🔥✨🔥💯🔥
Thanks for the feedback ... really appreciate it! 🙏🙏🙏
Nice performance (And the comments).
Thanks so much!
So you have to open it every time you want to change the batteries?
Yes. We'll see how many years I'll get out of these batteries.
Next put a sampler into an analogue rytm... please.
I'm digging my analog rytm these days, but I figured it would be my Digitakt as my portable unit
Wow, great job! How long does it take to discharge? And also charge to 100%?
Thanks! It runs for just about 4 hours. I'm not sure how long it takes to charge ... I just plug it in for a while. I'll have to get one of those in-line meters to see.
Bosch or DeWalt 12v adapter + battery 2-5 Ah capacity + small wire with barrel plugs - and it gives stable 12v, which BMS doesn't provide. Another advantage - you don't need to modify the device.
Very cool! Have you done this already, and if so can you post a picture, and share how much time you're getting out of it? I'm not sure what you're talking about regarding the stable 12v ... I'm not noticing any problems when I use it.
Lovely work on this track Add !
Thanks very much! I appreciate it!
great feel and vibe, love the background video over the primary video. More please!
