12 year old won a shark fishing contest in the 1920s here in Newcastle, Australia with a very large bronze whaler at night off Stockton Beach.. Reporter asked him what he used for bait, kid said 'a dead dog' next question was 'how did you get it out there?' kid said 'oh, I swam it out..' Used a 40 gallon drum full of sand to help him play it.. True story.. 😉

Threw that lizard fish back, I know some guys in NC who'd fight for one on a pier, I've seen a bunch of fish come over the rails with lizards

Nicely done! I’ve always wanted to try this at the beach in Jax. Trolley rig fishing on the pier is too crowded for my liking but this I will definitely try. Looks like you just free lined the bait. What do you think of doing what you did but using a balloon rig?
