Great choice of music for the cave footage mate. Made the hairs on my arms stand up. Nice spot will have to make a voyage there soon.
Cheers mate, the track was perfect for the wairua of the cave 👍
what amazing coast line Loz.
those new zman softbait look sick as
Will be interesting to see how they go in a more fishy location 👍
Didn't realise you used barbless hooks Laurie. Easier unhooking fish and yourself if unlucky! Cheers
It would have been nice to have had barbless trebles a couple of day ago 😂
I've got a gt, it's awesome. Trying to find a chill pod though is tricky@@!
I’m happy to sell mine if you can’t find one 👍
That's the info right there cheers for another good vid lauzza
Great tips.... The difference in batteries is massive. I used to use lead batteries also before moving to FPV.... also loosing some weight around the gut makes a big difference on the kayak!!! The problem I have is take to many lures/jigs (just in case) that add the weight back haha
That’s why we loose the weight so we can take more lures 😂
Where abouts in coro is this bro
Te Kouma
Awesome vid loz, at first I thought it was an add for Jenny Craig weight loss BAHAHAHA
😂 calling me fat?
@@yakfishfun8441 BAHAHAHAHA
Great video mate 👌 keep the tips and tricks coming please
Will do 👍
great tips on the lighter gears to reduce weight intakes.
I stopped taking a Crate on my kayak to save weight. Now I just take a 6 pack. JK - I don't drink anything on the yak.. Safety above all else.
😅
Not even one XXXX?
@@yakfishfun8441 have to make an exception for a VB hey lozza 😂
The Waikato draught of Ozzie 🍺
@@yakfishfun8441 I don't give a XXXX
Maybe Waihi is just a sharky place but I've been hassled a few times by them while bleeding fish etc. The worst encounter was a big mako that followed me and nudged my rudder.
Mate the last fatality was there, so 100% a Sharky spot
I really like the centre hatch storage idea - where did you get the red bag? did you cut a storage hatch and attach it?
The centre well bag is epic, I make them myself, happy to make for others and yes it’s attached to a cut down bucket 👍
@@yakfishfun8441 I’d be keen to know more …. Can I pm you somehow? I’m living in Tauranga
I notice you tie straight to the hook and dont use the gimini clip ,is there a reason for this
I’ve never used clips, get great action from a lefties loop. I cover my bases by taking 2 different sb combos with me 👍

What an excellent video, thankyou for making it.
Another very informative video, thanks Laurie. Good to be alerted to the possibility of a rodholder popping while on the water and to get your guide on how to fix it. I see you had soft plastics on both a spinning reel and a baitcaster. Do you have a preference for one or the other in different situations when fishing with soft plastics?
Hi Geoff, the baitcasting setup is a heavy action rod 8-12kg, I target the deeper water 10m plus with that and I’m using 1oz jigheads and 7 inch softbaits. As it turned out the best fishing was shallow 👍
Cheers Laurie
Good review of the new updates, cheers
Great vid Loz. Desperate to get out east Coro again soon, this vid just added to the desperation haha. Love the reverse technique dragging out the big ones will have to give that a go soon. Great fixit job!
Nice vids mate! Just liked and subscribed! Have a peak at our missions in Auckland nz 😊
Bloody plastic kayaks hey Loz 😂 great vid mate
good on you for releasing those fish mate. well done on the video. i was always kinda scared if something serious happens while out on the water in kayak. emergency beacon is a must in all cases.
I’m hearing you mate, Having a plan of action for potential bust ups should be high priority for any fisherman 👍 Doing big offshore trips in the yak worries me, it’s a long way back if the weather turns 😬
Another awesome vid Laurie ❤💙
Cheers Jonno 👍
Nice one!
Winter is totally the best time - but you shouldnt be telling everyone 😂
😬 sorry Brad
I hugely admire you releasing so many fish of all sizes. Conservation of fish stocks is so important.
Awesome comment, for me fishing is about physical and mental health as much as taking home a feed of fresh fish, limited days on the water so I like to maximise my hours 😎
Now after seeing that bad workmanship im going to check my new reload. Great vid and solid fish.
To me that’s a minor issue with an easy solution, I’m hard on my gear and was expecting to have to strengthen that up at some stage (that’s why I have the spare plastic). Hopefully yours is all good 👍
Nice video, cheers for sharing the repair job.
Thats a crap job from viking can i assume they dont have brass inserts like my ocean kayak ?
Plenty of brass inserts, just not on the rod holders. Positioning of inserts for holders would need to be 100% accurate, not much room for error. It’s an easy fix and I’ve only highlighted it in my vid so others will have the confidence to do the same repair job if they need to 👍
Awsome lozza nice fish and good tips at the end
Cheers Skippy 👍
Wicked fishing lauzz just waiting for the weather to sort itself out down here 😥😂 do you find the lowlight situations are still best in winter? You seem to catch alot of big fish when the suns high and clear
I definitely catch bigger fish at first light, problem is they tend to take a bit of mahi to get to. Could explain why I seem to be catching them later. Another factor is the time it takes me to work out where they’re hiding 👍
Awesome man some very solid fish there mate well done🎣 winter is my favourite time to can’t beat it 👌
That road to the top is also safer to drive in winter 😂
Yip one thing I’ve found with the new Viking kayaks those rod holders don’t seem to be quite right. I’ve had two pop out on the new reload
It’s important to have the correct size hole saw because the screw position doesn’t give you much tolerance 👍
Damn nice fish make me wanna get back in water soonish lol!!! Nice work Laurie 👊😎
Get some practice in before BH comp bruv 👍
At work god damn ya 😂
😂 next time
Hi , can i please ask about your paddle as its something most people don’t talk about yours looks carbon , im worried of spending the money on carbon , the shaft being put in & out of paddle clips repetitively … making a weak point & snapping can they handle the abuse of fishing situations , paddle clips etc , or ive noticed you leave yours in your lap often , is that too avoid paddle clips with it ? & is it worth spending extra for carbon ? thank you
Carbon fibre is the 💣 When I changed my distance covered increased 50%. The leaving on my lap is possibly a bad habit but also how I fish, I’m more into hunting fish in close than doing long drifts
thank you , you’re vids are great to learn from 👍
I have a 400 Lite. I wrote to Viking several years ago about the mid-handles and balance, needed to move to a more central balance site. Also the rear handles should be a single, easier to carry and even balance. I've joined mine with cord and a piece of hose.
The reality is small changes like that aren’t cheap to change, is yours the new model?
No, old model. I raised the idea so if any mods to the mould in future, to consider a shift.
Great review, clear explanations, great camera work and editing. I have nearly completed customising my (pre-fire) GT for use on in-shore and fresh-water fishing. A query - where did you get your yellow Fishfinder Spray cover - I have the Rob Forte one but it has no see-through plastic screen cover - and the usual Wairarapa sea-state where I live is generally very "splashy" and I'd like to afford my Lowrance Elite 7 FX as much protection as possible.
Gerard, that’s my own design, you can email me lauriepottinger@icloud.com if you want one 👍
wettie the spearfishing company made a video long ago about people touching snapper with bare hands , just touching them with our bare skin can cause flesh infections on them that pretty much rots their skin , they showed some of them in that condition while freediving i don’t even understand the need to catch something for a photo , catch one or two for dinner & go home 🤷♂️
If you watch my vids you will see I wear fingerless gloves
@@yakfishfun8441 i have been watching your vids on the viking kayaks , awesome info as i’m about to buy one , but 99 percent of people handle snapper with bare hands as they just don’t know , the info isn’t there to tell people
Good one Lozza
I'm very happy with my profish viking gt with the Bixby setup, injoying the stability, turning ability, compact design, making handling, and storing easy ,not too heavy for me ,love the storage setup, perfect for inshore fishing, coastal fishing, appreciate your video ,and the improvements that could be. made. I sometimes feel this kayak model is pushed a side and underrated.
Yeah bro, the Bixpy transforms the GT, there is definitely some improvements that could be made to the yak but I’d imagine it’s hard to justify with the % of the market it has. Before the fire the pod was interchangeable with the Reload which was awesome, Hurricane seat option would be great but that would mean possibly increasing it to 3.7m 🤔
Many regards from Greece, l have a pro fish reload, in Greece we have waves every three meters, so lam satisfied from my kayak, καλές θαλασσες
Do others have Reloads in Greece? They’re an awesome kayak 👍
@@yakfishfun8441 No I am the only one I bought it in France 6 years ago, it’s very stable and perfect for the Aegean sea, καλές θαλασσες
Aegean Viking 😎
Great vid thanks mate! 🙌
Cheers bro 👍
I’ve had 5 years now in my GT and you’ve nailed the review. Great kayak for chasing snapper in the shallows. One pro I’d add is the relative ease for loading onto roof racks. The extra windage is a definite consideration so I agree, don’t get caught out in an offshore breeze.
Ease of loading and being shorter for storage would be a key purchase consideration for many. Have to admit with my Reload I take a few rods but mainly use one 😂
Solid video lauz very interesting comparison defenetly think the reload takes the cake
Definitely the best yak for where you’ve been fishing 👍
I bought a Profish GT in February. I'm very happy with it. Absolutely love the stability, length and tackle pod. I honestly can't see myself wanting a 400 or Reload (at least for a while).
Got a Mission Catch 3.9, it's awesome too!
Good tips lozza! Had a good weekend up north launching off a beach with some surf and remembered your tips of waiting behind breakers and analysing the sets and lulls and managed no turtles over 4 days 😂✅🤙🏼
If you're that feakin heavy, that boat is sittin' well out of the water,..very impressive.
🤣 nah I’m only 85-90kg
Great Advice Los, those covers are looking MINT
Yep they’re at a stage where improvements will be hard to find 👍
