      Unfortunately, maya hasnt looked good in a long time, especially when it comes to modeling. After using it for 7 years and switching to blender I dont ever want to touch that software again sorry 😅. I'd be ok with it if you wanted to buy it and use claud/chatgpt to convert it to a maya script though. You'd be surprised how easy it is.

    I am having issues to get a bicycle chain evenly distributed. As there is a option for Move Along Curve for without deform mode missing. When I try to change the inner links spacing and the outer links array spacing I never get them to perfectly connect that way. I need the spacing to be even but move the inner or outer chain link inbetween each other.

    • @Hodgson3d
      @Hodgson3d 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey, if you turn off deform, it is basically instancing per point so it is not possible to move along the chain. You would need to increase/decrease the segments count to properly match them. If you are referring to the ends not being able to overlap, then you will need to rip off a segment of your curve so its not cyclical and slightly overlap the curve. • @ShiroiAkumaSama
    @ShiroiAkumaSama 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice modifier, I only wish if we wrap to objects together we could hook one end of the curve to one of the objects, so if that rotates the wrap starts twisting. If you have like 2 cylinder wrap them together and then rotate them so is starts twisting. That would be amazing.

    Or, you can do that on the cutter and simply boolean, i guess. But, this is good too.

    • @Hodgson3d
      @Hodgson3d 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, a cutter would work too, but remeshing something like this so you get clean edgeflow around the broken area to make a masking easier for textures can be tricky at times. Also in VFX you often have to hero fracture pre existing assets that already have UVs and textures so remeshing often isn't an option. Good to have both methods in your tool belt :)

    "Wrap Master" plugin is much better tbh. Doesn't have custom mesh support tho. What i don't like about this "WrapGen" is that it's not real wrappings, it's just "rings" around the object.

    • @Hodgson3d
      @Hodgson3d 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair Enough. They both have pros and cons. I find that Wrap Master produces very unrealistic results as it simply shrink wraps everything. It doesn't respect tension over concave areas of the mesh and is only good at singular cylindrical objects. WrapGen can wrap a a collection of objects and also has tension over concave areas. I've been modeling professionally for close to a decade now and faking the realism of a singular physically accurate wrap with many "rings" with randomness is more than enough for 90% of assets. Wrap Master also is very limited as you said that it cant use custom geo, which ultimately is a dealbreaker for me personally No one wants to be locked into a preset. WrapGen is also much more versatile as you not only can create ropes/bindings etc but also assets such as tire tread, create labels on bottles etc.. Just my 2cents. They can both be used together in different situations.

    • @Hodgson3d
      @Hodgson3d 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, apologies for the late reply. Do you mean like a label on a bottle? You will want to disable "array" and "fit to curve" (fit to curve is a reintroduced setting in v1.37) to wrap a single object and not have it encompass the target mesh.

      @Hodgson3d 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm talking about blenders quadriflow remeshing. Lots of youtube videos on it. (just make sure to enable "preserve mesh boundary". But regardless, with this workflow you don't actually need a remeshing tool. As you saw the base mesh was very low poly to begin with. You could easily just make it yourself without any remeshing by resolving the Ngon manually. Its probably not a good idea to crease the edges and subdivide a giant Ngon as the topology will be quite messy.

    v1.13 UPDATE -Further optimizations to the shrinkwrap system. It is now orders of magnitude faster then earlier versions. -Exposed smoothing controls of the guide curve if you want to subdivide it (useful when using poly curves) -If there is no "wrap mesh" assigned, the generator will convert the curves to tubes by default. Controls can be found at the bottom of the generator UI to adjust the radius/resolution and resample the tubes.

  • @Hodgson3d
    @Hodgson3d 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    v1.1 UPDATE -Reworked the boolean/convex hull/shrinkwrap system of the generator so it is now faster and more accurate. -Removed the "Curve Merge Threshold" as it is no longer needed for the new setup. -Added a setting called "Curve Resolution." This setting controls the amount of points along the projection curves. Higher values produce smoother/more accurate results. By default this value is set to 256. This means there are 256 points along the curve. Adjust accordingly to your needs.
