Im a fairy tail fan, and I also think its junk. Buts its good junk. Its like eating taco bell. Its not great food, but sometimes you just crave it. Its nice to just turn your brain off and watch it and enjoy it for what it is. The power system is dumb and makes little sense and its overloaded with fan service, but god damn is nice to just enjoy some hot garbage every now and then.

i clicked the video because i saw fairy tail in my recommended and for some reason i don't get fairy tail in my recommended unless it's music. anyway yeah it's definitely not the best anime and it has a ton of issues due to bad/incompetent writing, but i do consider it better than a lot of other animes i've watched and it doesn't deserve the level of hate it gets. you gave it a good defense, but i think you could've done better. focus less on summarizing individual moments and more on the subject that those moments achieve and how. most of the video seems to be just a summary/compilation of emotional scenes which isn't good criticism since it relies solely on the emotion. however, i think i get what you were trying to convey despite the sole focus on emotion. some of fairy tail's focal points imo is how well it conveys foundational ideals through its characters, the display of fellowship and character ethics, and how it consistently succeeds in the separation between villain redemption and villain atonement, which is something that the vast majority of animes fail in miserably. in general, i loved fairy tail because it displayed healthy ethics and strong ideals which although is considered tropey, i am yet to see done as successfully in any other anime.

This is why Fairy Tail is my favorite anime Of all time. Is it perfect? A masterpiece? No. Nowhere near. AOT is a masterpiece. But Fairy Tail us something other. Fairy Tail is a perfect anime in its own right. All of its stuff that it does wrong makes it perfect. It what makes it much better than other anime. It what makes it real, to me. See, to me family and friends are my no. 1 thing in my life so thats why it's my favorite

From a story perspective I understand why for these reasons: 1. Kushina wanted Naruto to find a girl like her as one of her last words before she died. Minato literally said Sakura reminds him of Kushina....obvious point. 2. Naruto has been for Sakura from day 1. When Sasuke dipped, it was Naruto who promised to bring him back to Sakura (though part of it was that he wanted to bring Sasuke back too) he's been with Sakura since then saved her countless times. Sakura stop chasing the man that clearly doesn't want you, you have someone who does want you. Why I actually am fine with Hinata being with Naruto: 1. Hinata was literally day 1. Though too shy to express it she was one of the first people who acknowledged Naruto. While everyone was simping for Sasuke in the academy she was on that Naruto timing (though shy and didn't express it well she did good enough) 2. The Pain arc, while Sakura was crying like a baby. Hinata showed up and died trying to protect Naruto (though she had no chance it is the thought that counts. Anyway I will watch the video now. I have watched and yeah I understand your points. Sakura have chosen Naruto after all that and I say chosen and not end up with because if I was Naruto after all that chasing after Sakura and saving her time and time again only to be pushed to the wayside for SaSuKE-kUn. I would not be with her and chosen Hinata anyway, but yeah your point are valid.

I’m 25. And that’s why I know what Naruto is capable of. He literally fought an entire war by himself with 3,000 for 3 days after fight his half of the nine tails. And half of the top tiers in the verse. He also has one of the smartest people in history as his secretary and enough respect from all other nations to be in world peace. That and the strength to literally destroy the world with no chance of losing and you’re telling me he can’t show up to his daughter birthday? That’s just bad writing.

I’d say from Dragon Ball is more of a fun adventure and we are along the ride with a(unknown to us that’s he’s an alien) monkey boy on his quest to be strong. It’s when we go to Z the narrative ramps up. Saiyan saga was Goku and everyone realizing he’s an alien and from his brother no less. From the start, Goku doesn’t accept being a Saiyan. Going off to fight his own brother to save his son, then dying for it. Gets revived and saves the remainder of his friends and son again. No dragon balls because Piccolo died. Not like he couldn’t fight, because they would’ve found him anyways in search of the dragon balls and he’d have better odds teaming up with the Z fighters. After Nappa’s death, Goku vs Vegeta happens and go all the way to the Great Ape Fight. Goku has a moment and realizes(because Grandpa Gohan told him a story of a great ape that comes out on a full moon), that he’s the one that killed his caretaker and terrorized the tournament as a kid. At that point Goku started partly accepting himself as a Saiyan but holds on to his earthling values. Not speaking on him sparing his enemies to fight them again because there isn’t much a moral complexity there(exception being saving Piccolo’s life because Kami’s life being linked). The stakes are high because they must revive everyone that died in the Saiyan invasion. Due to the previous arc, the Namek Sags kicks off because Freeza wants the dragon balls. Both Good and Evil are chasing the dragon balls. If anyone dies on Namek, that’s it for everyone. Goku, meanwhile, is training and reflecting on being a Saiyan. He comes to Namek referring to himself as one(somewhat); in contrast to calling himself an earthling. It isn’t until he fulfills and Saiyan legend after the death of Krillin(because Goku assumed and tells King Kai, Krillin can’t be wished back) that he says “ I Am The Super Saiyan, Son Goku!” Namek and Saiyan arc subtle story of Goku discovering and accepting who he is, then tying in Bardock, Father of Goku special to defeat the tyrant that Goku was unaware used and hated his people. So boom, everyone is revived and there’s peace on earth until Android saga. Because Goku trashed the Red Ribbon, Gero made machines to kill him, a direct consequence from Dragon Ball. Goku gets hit with a heart virus and in our timeline, he lives. Goku changed and was thinking about life would be better if he was dead and he should bring Gohan as Earth’s defender because from Goku’s perspective, he can fill the role. Goku can see what Gohan can be, but Gohan cannot. Thats where Goku misunderstands his son; yes, he fights to protect others but Gohan wasn’t ready to bear the responsibility in contrast of Goku who would do anything to protect his friends. People may argue he doesn’t kill Freeza, but remember Goku tried to on Namek and had to kill him in Trunks Timeline. That narrative of The Sins of the Father trope, and being a parent in a Shounen is subtly there. Then Goku believing that he’s better off dead to provide earth peace for 7 years is a huge thing because Goku was gearing Gohan to take his place when it happens. Goku comes back and the narrative was the next generation, but that didn’t go well. So that gets dropped for Goku learning the Shonen trope of strength in other’s through the spirit bomb. Goku normally gets energy from non-living things and animals, but the one spirit bomb that works was the one that gathered energy from the people of earth. It wasn’t enough, until Goku got his energy back and added his power to the spirit bomb. It’s the typical Shonen trope, but Goku normally tries not to rely on others, evidence being the victory against Vegeta and telling Krillin he wants to fight him with his own strength(paraphrasing). It wasn’t until the spirit bomb that he actually considered it. Now Super… Eh, it’s hype but it’s not as narratively subtle or constructed like Z imo. It’s fun, but Z had pretty real stakes.

I 10 billion percent agree, I always kinda thought of Zoro as Luffy’s best freidn until I heard people trying to say it was Ussop. And I think they make some valid points, but I really appreciated the points you made too… I’m a writer, and I feel like if I was going to write a Best Friend for one of my characters it would look more like Zoro and Luffy’s relationship. 1:34 yeah, because 1. Zoro didn't give two shits about the Merry and 2. Zoro views Luffy as his captain, first and foremost, while Usopp views (or viewed) Luffy as his buddy first and captain distant second. Zoro is employer of the month material, while Usopp is BFF material for Luffy.

Usopp is Luffy's friend for... silly stuff. Non-serious situations. Goofing off. Zoro knows this and respects this. Luffy would trust Zoro as his literal stand-in.

I dont think you are getting it, luffy fights not because he loves to fight like captain kidd or kaido but because he has to to keep his friends safe, same with every other member of the crew, zoro can relate the most with that i know but that just makes them partners in the ring. To understand who's the best friend you gotta look at what luffy loves the most, and thats food, he literally does everything for food, his dream is to give fhe biggest party ever when he reaches the top and so his best friend has to come from that angle and the most fit for that would be chopper, chopper is his best friend because only he can give a challenge to luffy in food eating, but there js a thing that luffy loves more than food, thats right, adventure, he loves adventure and who helps him the most with that? Thats right, Nami. Now, Nami is a frail woman and needs security and who has helped her with that? Ussop!! Without ussop Nami isnt safe and without Nami there is no adventure, so who's luffy's best friend? Ussop

Mate, I one hundred percent agree. Luffy and Ussop are superficially similar, but when it comes down to ideals and belief and being in the same wavelength, Luffy and Zoro are so much more similar. They like and respect each other far beyond the other members of the crew.
