Just yesterday YT recommended me one of these "Der Letzte seines Standes" series video, _Der Kupferschmied_ (probably because I recently watched few videos by some other Iranian Coppersmith, on "Mr. Taghavi" channel), and this one is about some Austrian traditional coppersmith. Couldn't make much out of the narrative (I don't really speak German, I merely understant it A LITTLE), but anyone can see what this guy is doing anyway. What?! Silica sand, aka quartz sand, or silicon dioxide (SiO2) melts at 1710°C/ 3115°F. Copper melts at 1085°C/ 1984°F. Do your math... Hint: BORAX. The most common flux for brazing (be it with brass or silver or other copper alloys) or so-called blacksmith welding of steel.
