What would be the ratio for chain to rope?

I never used that rig before. But why not put the corn directly on the hook?

I thought you are supposed to use a bobber with that cage feeder so the pack bait gets dispersed in the water, makes a big cloud in the water and the fish find the corn on the hook below. I'm not sure about that because I have never tried the method cage feeder.

I heard about theses and found one on the bank. I used old fashioned oatmeal and suger with a worm at the end. Caught 6 carp, 1 25lbs pb, and 6 catfish with 1 pole. I ordered 20 of those feeders next day. I love them!! Now i have a reason to buy a landing net. Lol

My dad went fishing with one of our neighbors and when he anchored his boat reached the end of the rope and the bow of his boat started under, he had to cut the rope before he sank his boat. How do you prevent the current from dragging your boat under?

The end with the heavier end goes towards the hook. It does make a difference.

Thanks for explaining what a boilie is. If I recall from my childhood, my Mother used to make that for my day when he cat carp fish. She called it dough boil. I thought she mentioned dough ball because of the ball it formed. 😅😅😅

If there is a little kid around when I hook a carp I usually have them and maybe a parent helping them reel it in. That way they get hooked on big fish and bug their parents to go carp fishing instead of bluegill or bass

Have you fished Wehrspann? It is chock full of carp. We caught some pretty good sized ones last year out of there.

My friend uses this method and doesn't catch anything to start with but once they start feeding he has had up to three carp on at once. Where I fish is too rocky and I would end up loosing setups way too much so I just use a hook and weight and lob corn out to the same spot Everytime My biggest problem is ducks that see me throwing stuff out so I have to get a few handfuls of rocks and throw them away from where my bait is.

Ive got a few right there and on the other side of the boat dock! Its been a few years but the spillway on the back side of the dam use to be full of fish, between the road and the dam. good luck and leave some for the rest of us ;)

The only problem I have with that. Is if the fish runs into a snag it will be tethered and unable to escape.

Nice. I have the same rods. Both are paired with 6000 Coonor reels. 30lb cajun mono. I've caught 30lb catfish, carp, and salmon.

So after two years are you still using the Sharky Reels. I have one of them and it works out for heavy casting but the reel handle is really flexible.

One idea I have been thinking of trying for avoiding the hook tangling on the main line is to use heavier braid, 50-60lbs, on the main line, then 40lbs mono to the hook, with 10lbs braid for the hair. Reason is that the 40lbs mono is more stiff and will have enough spring to keep the hook away from the main line in flight/sinking/settling on the bottom. It is lighter than the mainline, so it will break before the mainline hopefully and not leave a long string on the fish if it does happen. Just a theory at this point though.

Using a stick for the bait stop is the same way I do it basically. I used to use the plastic ones which work great, but ran out of those and so started using dried out pine needles off the ground because those are common here. Lately I use old or used thin (~1mm dia.) elastic bands, slide them in the loop and snip the tip for the bait stop. Theory for using the elastic band is that it doesn't have pointy or scrapey edges to annoy/alert the fish.

I like the idea about soaking and freezing the corn for putting on the hair, gonna try that one.

I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.
