Finding my Destiny on a Compound in a Philippines Province
Living on a compound in the Philippines province has been a transformative experience for me, one that has allowed me to discover a deeper sense of purpose. As a retiree, I sought simplicity and connection, and this lifestyle has brought me exactly that-helping me find my own destiny.
Life here on the compound emphasizes self-sufficiency and harmony with nature. Growing my own fruit and vegetables, raising chickens, and embracing a slower pace have become part of my daily routine. The fresh air and tranquil surroundings have given me the space to reflect, re-evaluate, and focus on what truly matters. This peaceful setting has provided the perfect environment for me to rediscover personal passions that bring fulfillment and a sense of purpose.
For me, destiny here is defined by:
Simplicity: I’ve embraced the joy of a slower lifestyle, where the small pleasures-like harvesting my dragon fruit or enjoying a morning walk-bring immense satisfaction.
Family bonds: Living in this close-knit environment has strengthened my relationships with Richie, Mikey, and the rest of my family. We share in the rhythms of daily life, finding joy in the simple moments.
Purposeful work: I’ve found renewed energy in projects that speak to my passions, whether it’s creating videos, teaching online, or sharing my knowledge as a consultant. These pursuits keep me engaged, while allowing me to contribute to others’ lives.
Community: Living among the local Filipino community has been a true blessing. Their warmth, joy, and resilience have taught me so much about living authentically. Being part of this community has added a rich dimension to my life.
Through this simpler, more intentional lifestyle, I’ve come to realize that finding one's destiny isn't necessarily about grand achievements or wealth, but about living in harmony with your values, passions, and the people around you. This life on the compound has allowed me to do exactly that.

Retirement in the Philippines as a foreigner - go with the flow and be brave not stupid
มุมมอง 78วันที่ผ่านมา
Retiring in the Philippines province offers a lifestyle filled with charm, simplicity, and the kind of tranquility many retirees dream of. As a foreigner settling into this peaceful corner of the world, one crucial piece of advice I can offer is this: learn to go with the flow. When I first moved to the Philippines, I found myself wanting to replicate many of the systems and routines I was accu...
The Rustic Charm of Retirement in the Philippines province
มุมมอง 39วันที่ผ่านมา
Living on a compound in the heart of Luzon brings a rustic charm that suits my retirement perfectly. The pace of life here is wonderfully simple, and the air feels fresher and crisper than anything I was used to back in the UK. Every morning, I step outside to the sound of chickens clucking, the gentle rustling of trees, and the warmth of the early sun. Our life revolves around nature’s rhythms...
Oxford or Cambridge: A story that convinces me the Philippines is the BEST place to live today
มุมมอง 66วันที่ผ่านมา
In my latest video, I’m sharing the story of a Japanese woman who recently visited the UK for two weeks. Her trip was meant to help her decide between Cambridge, Oxford, and London, where she has already been accepted to complete her PhD. But instead of feeling inspired by the prestigious universities, her visit left her quite distressed. From the moment she arrived, it wasn’t the academic inst...
Retirement in the Philippines on a compound in the province
มุมมอง 96วันที่ผ่านมา
As a Brit who’s made the Philippines my home, I’ve learned a thing or two about the journey of retiring here. My wife, Richie, and I, along with our son Mikey, have embraced life in the province, but it didn’t happen overnight. If you’re considering retiring here from the West, my advice is simple: don’t rush into it. Take your time before making any large financial commitments. I’d suggest wai...
Snapshot of today’s morning in the Philippines province - life is Great
มุมมอง 75วันที่ผ่านมา
In this video, I want to give viewers in the UK and other western countries a glimpse into what life is really like living on a compound in the rural Philippines. This is just a snapshot of a few morning hours during the rainy season, so of course, the rain was coming down. Once it let up, we took a quick drive to the river in the golf cart to check how close we were to flooding. Richie also pr...
No Rain then Rain in the Philippines province compared with my home country England
มุมมอง 59วันที่ผ่านมา
The Philippines is a land of contrasts, and nowhere is this more evident than in the weather, particularly when it comes to rain. Coming from England, where rain seems like a constant companion-whether it’s the light drizzle, the unexpected showers, or the unrelenting grey skies-it’s tempting to think you’ve seen it all. But the Philippines' wet season offers a whole new perspective on rain. Wh...
When you are older you become the person you are supposed to be
มุมมอง 142วันที่ผ่านมา
Yes, the statement "When you are older, you become the person you are supposed to be" rings true for many people, and its meaning can be justified through several perspectives: Self-Acceptance: As people age, they often become more comfortable with who they are, letting go of insecurities, societal expectations, or the pressure to conform. With experience comes a deeper understanding of oneself...
Discovering True Happiness: A Journey of Self-Definition in the Philippines province
มุมมอง 63วันที่ผ่านมา
I believe true happiness only emerges when we have discovered who we truly are and can clearly define ourselves. Before we reach that level of self-awareness, many of us tend to fill the gaps in our lives with superficial things-objects, money, big cars, or large houses-if we can. Yet, none of these material possessions ultimately define us. What defines us, I have come to realize, is far more ...
Retirement in the Philippines: consider the following with care
มุมมอง 158วันที่ผ่านมา
As a Brit living in the Philippines with my Filipino wife Richie and our 15-year-old son, I've come to appreciate the unique blend of community and solitude that life here offers. We live on a compound with our extended family, which provides a strong sense of connection and support. Yet, as someone who values personal space for thinking, working, and relaxing, I also understand the importance ...
Every morning is a new experience in the Philippines province
มุมมอง 59วันที่ผ่านมา
Every morning in the Philippines Province brings a unique experience when I wake up on our compound. The sky never looks exactly the same as the sun rises, a sight I've captured in many of my videos. At the bottom of our grounds, near the rest house, the sounds of insects, birds, and other creatures fill the air. Meanwhile, up at the top of our grounds, closer to the road, the sounds of human a...
