Vai was on this night an annoying showoff. Fripp never obviously shows off. I get Vai's role in this band. Sorry about my big head. I had no clue that you were recording. Obvs.

So disappointing. This was the song I was most looking forward to that night, even after seeing Vai widdling all over it in videos shared online. He just isn't suited for this song, and for the most part that middle solo is absolutely garish and incongruous. I wish they had encored with another attempt.

Adrian handled the equipment malfunction with perfect professionalism and dignity. Immediately upon realizing that it wasn't going to get resolved, he stepped off stage to allow the musicians onstage to take focus. Steve stepped up and delivered an incredible performance, and Danny and Tony stayed completely locked in as the rhythm section without missing a beat. This was probably the greatest assemblage of musicians onstage together that I have personally gotten to witness. They were all tuned in, listening and responding to each other, and they delivered a tremendous performance that was present and immediate and worked *now*, and not just as a performance of songs written 30+ years ago.

Great show; it was so fun to be there! Yeah, Adrian was havin' some gear issues, but it all got pulled off regardless.

To be fair, it's not a cover song if the song's writer is playing the song.

I was there… amazing show despite Adrian's couple of technical glitches. Steve is definitely more entertaining to watch than Robert Fripp and did an admirable job bringing his own flair while honoring the source material. And Danny was absolutely phenomenal throughout. Thanks for capturing the memory.

Too bad Adrian was having so much trouble with his gear both in LTIA3 and this, but Steve stepped up and delivered!

When I first heard this song, King Crimson was playing it live on the SNL-competitor late night show _Fridays_ that featured Larry David and Michael Richards in the excellent ensemble cast. That was December 4, 1981, and it changed my life musically. Such a fond memory!
