    i ordered some to put on my XFX 7900 XT Merc that has a 33C delta between global and hotspot. I suspect the thermalpaste XFX uses is susceptible by pump out as the GPU is always fine when new but over months it starts to degrade in temps. Hopefully that PTM7950 will fix the delta and last longer due to not being as liquid. I got 80x80mm so i have 2-3 tries before running out lol

    Can you provide the schematics for it Cause i need to change my 12ax7 Its not available in my country Not any tubes either

    • @DATT
      @DATT 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is no schematic. get two LND150's, connect them to the tube socket somehow. Put one on pins 1,2,3, and the other on pin 6,7,8. Flat part inwards, curved part outwards, legs pointed down to the socket. Other than that, all I can say is to rewatch the vid. Also, I have a nother vid called "I jammed transistors in my tube sockets" that might give you another perspective. Sadly, they don't sound very good in many positions so they aren't a proper substitute. They are more a novelty. YOu could try seaching "AMT 12ax7le" which is another more engineered substitute.

    So in August 2024 is ARC A770 16 Gb a good choice for a video editing system? I mostly work in Adobe Premiere Pro but plan using Davinci Resolve too (my old GPU was not supported). Or should I get an RTX 4060 (the most I can afford now)? Any advice will be appreciated!

    • @DATT
      @DATT 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's hit or miss depending on the drivers. Like the hardware is good for it, but the drivers aren't. I've been using a Vega64 with the 22.5.1 driver set lately. Last time I tried the ARC the program crashed during a render. But I'm use an old Vegas 16, perhaps a more up to date editor might be more stable. Honestly, if you just want to get things done, you can't go wrong with Nvidia. You don't need massive gaming horsepower for editing so my guess would be that a 4060 should do well. But I've never personally used one. I have to admit, my pitch on the video was slightly ambitious.

    Never have I come closer to truly manifesting a third hand through sheer will than when Im soldering shit! I like the input/output jacks youre using, Im wondering how much more or less in dollars would be the ones that have the internal finish bits- like the ones where the jack assembly sits just inside the hole, then the shiny outer hex piece threads into the inside and makes a nice finished look on the outside.

    • @DATT
      @DATT 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh like the Cliff Jacks? Yeah, try part number ACJS-IHS. My input jack is Amphenol. These jacks are ground isolated, so you'd have to find a different way to ground to the chassis. That's why my output jack it normal, cause it's the one point of chassis ground. Mind you, a lot of professional pedals don't do it that way.

      Well, engineering . . . and where it's made. This thing is made in germany as far as I know, so I would imaging it's using decent quality components and made by people in germany getting a living wage. Compare that to marshall that many of their main line amps and parts are being made in asia but they are still asking $3000+ for them.

    The "don't put your head on your cab" is an interesting concept. Does that mean combo amps wear tubes out faster?

    • @DATT
      @DATT 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh yeah that's a thing. If you read the comments and reviews related to some tubes on sites where they sell them, like for example, the Sovtek 12AX7-LPS on the tubestore website, they sometimes make mention that a tube may or may not be good in a combo due to being microphonic prone. Now as I tried to express, the KIND of wear is up for debate. They may electrically be fine, but the vibrations will loosen them over time which could lead to feedback, or a looser sound.

    the reason why there's so little microfins is because GPU's are super easy to cool compared to CPU's, even with the higher power draw. Reasoning being that GPU's have huge dies meaning thermal transfer is way easier, while cpu's have TONS of power concentrated in such a small die compared to GPU. Also not to mention you're cooling the GPU die directly versus going through an IHS on a cpu. Also there's the pump out effect on thermal paste that might affect performance

    • @DATT
      @DATT 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, I've heard about that. Considering that GPU's are often much higher wattage than a CPU, I could only imagine how difficult it'd be to cool them if they had a small die and an IHS.

    IIRC those high end x570 mobos have more pcb layers improving memory signal compared to x470 and especially old x370 mobos, thus better ram overclocks. But thats about it other than VRM, pcie version for storage, possible RAM oc capabilities it mostly doesnt matter, most of them are extra.
