As a Chicago guy, the first time I heard this song in 1971, I was blown away by its uniqueness and Elvis soft delivery. Sadly , Chicago mainstream radio was playing crap like Admiral Halsey, Signs , and Brand New Key ! This song ,if getting the airplay it deserved would easily have been a #1 hit. Written partially by Sonny Charles of The Checkmates, Ltd, ( Black Pearl ) . While on Soul Train , Sonny told Don Cornelius he was writing songs for Elvis !
