Silver Stacking and Coin Collecting in Japan with King Richard
In this video I talk with King Richard about his recent trip to Japan and how the Japanese coin shops compare to coins shops in America. In Japan there is a tax on silver although this can be avoided in some cases. Coin collecting in Japan has about the same popularity as coin collecting in America. There is such a thing as Japanese junk silver coins. Some coins in Japan are very collectible and can be worth a great deal of money. Does is make sense to stack silver in Japan. If you live in Japan should you be coin collecting or stack silver? These are some of the things that we go over in this video.

Interesting coins and history
How do I remove the stuff that settles on the top
Do you have a link for the bipod you have for your torch?
Where did you get the TR OZ 999 FS stamp? And what size is it?
I'm watching all of your pouring videos. How about making your own graphite molds, can we do that at home?
I just got a kiln ! I never was really interested in pouring, but lately I started thinking about it. I am going to start with beer cans, just because I have plenty, and I want to play with them. I really don't know what to expect, but i think I got a good kiln. I really am getting excited, tomorrow I will try it out, and just see how it works. i know nothing, and the instructions only say how to put it together, not how to use it. Once I get my beer cans melted, I'm sure that I'll be ready for Silver. I'll try all the techniques on Aluminum first. Right now, just kind of wondering how long propane lasts for smelting. I think what I'm doing costs more than what I would get for just recycling them. I have a LOT of cans, I want to at least make them into plain bars, and learn about molds after that. Thanks a whole lot for doing videos like this, I will look for other pouring videos that you've done, I am paying more attention to them now. Have a great weekend!
I know that was a long post. I really had no interest in pouring, but I guess anyone can if they want to, of course quality depends on the experience of trial and error. Like you said, if you don't like it, melt it again! I don't see how I can go wrong, and I'm looking forward to doing some neat stuff. I got my kiln today, an "Amazon Special," but it looks like what I expected. I will definitely use it to understand the process. I think it would be cool to make custom bars or rounds for friends and family, even with Aluminum, something that is shaped or embedded, which is personal to them. I do give Silver for Christmas, and I'd like to do something more special. Thanks again, and I will watch more of your pouring videos!
Your silver art peaces are super cool, are you shipping to Canada i live in Vancouver
Thank you Richard and Silver Dragons , Great Interview and it's interesting to hear about Japan :) QC
How do you make 3D figurines?
Very nice pour. I was wondering why you dont use a dremel to clean it up and polish it.
Fun, yes, but could you sell these later on? My guess is no. But, you never know.
Good information,I collect a lot of big stuff, but I still love to fill my old books 😊
I've got the right size you love

Where do you get your molds from? I entered in a silver pouring contest on TikTok and gotta get a cool graphite mold, you up for letting me barrow one? That Batman one would be dope
Very cool and interesting.
When I vacationed in Italy , there were too many fake ancient coins i passed on them
Fun chat. Would like to have seen more coin designs.
Very interesting coins. Nice variety .Thanks.
My favourite coins are from the Meiji era after Emperor Meiji who reigned from 1868 to 1910, Silver Dragons - this was when there was the gold 20 yen and silver 1 yen, the Japanese silver trade dollar etc.
Does the Liver of Sulfer work on copper as well?
I'd watch a show like this on other countries too
Comix is paper promises and the 🇯🇵 money failed(paper) much like our USD is rigged and failing?Anything related? Paper promises? rigged? Selling more than you have to back? Thanks SD for the amazing vid as always!
Do you have any tips for getting consistent measurements for pours? We are pouring a lot of bars but get inconsistent weights on them.
Very cool! You'll never run out of subject matter with ancients!
Would of been cool for you to show the dragon on some of those sen coins. When you read the date on those coins it will be emperor reigns (taisho) then the that year of his reign.( Year 6 of his reign) I think I got that right lol.
Spot on!
This may be a stupid question for some but, does Japan have their equivalent of a 1oz silver and 1oz gold bullion?
Asahi silver coins and bars could be equivalent to 1oz coin. Fun fact asahi that bought Johnson matthey silver refining.
Tony is right, but just to add on that the Bank of Japan mint doesn't make any sovereign coins. They make some commemoratives, but they are usually priced very high. The vast majority of the sets they sell are just proofs of the standard currency, no precious metal in them.
The King!!!! 🤴
👑💪🏽
The first coin is a taisho 14year 50 sen coin. .720 Silver content. I'm living in Japan at the moment and doing some stacking. More difficult to get silver at good price but I have been buying Junk Silver and some Japanese coins at a decent price. Takes some work on auctions. They don't do stacking here. I think most are just numismatic collectors. Some do buy gold but major metals outlets will only have gold and only sell silver in larger amounts.
Awesome video SD! You found some really cool finds, keep on hunting. This was a great video hope to see more.😃👍
Richard is cool always makes the show interesting with the awesome Silver Dragons
🩶🐉🔥
This video could have been 30 mins longer. Love the knowledge Richard has and passed on just now.
I’ll let Richard know he should let loose with all his wisdom next time 🎉😂
Good thing you didn't use any of those world elite molds like the Mason or pyramid eye. They have enough silver I'm sure.
King Richard is the Rain Man of coin collecting.
Yeah.
Great to see the King back in action. I did'nt see King Richard at the recent ANA show. I had to pleasure to talk to Adrian and Big Bill. My goal in to meet Harry and you, Silver Dragons. Great Show!

Those are cool!
I have a U.S. 20 dollar African note with the gold seal. My Great uncle was carrying it during WW2 when he was killed in France. It's has blood on it and it also has 16 signatures of other soldiers that were there when he got killed is my understanding why it was signed. My grandpa was less than a mile away from him when he got killed also serving during WW2. After the fact he was brought over and got to see his body before it was taken off the war field. I believe that we're he may have gotten the 20 dollar bill I am not sure though he died before I was born, so what I am saying has been passed down by story. I was told I should send it off to get graded just to perserve it but I have been afraid to send it off. Any suggestions what I should do to help perserve it.
Short snorter. I believe that is what it's called. I used to have a Hawaii note someone stole from me. Awesome note I can imagine your note has sentimental value to you I would cherish that. I would frame it and hang it on the wall with a note and description of all the information you have on it. Also I would look into the names on the note. No doubt they were your uncles comrades and who knows you might be able to find some of them and get more information on what you're Uncle did in the war.
Take Richard to the strip club 😂
