Tatting, an art technique for lace making. An old “side hustle” of sailors. Sailors during the quiet days of no wind in their sails would have other things to occupy their time which included tatting. This also would give them a little extra money when they docked! An art form of simply tying two knots. In this video I briefly describe some basic tatting tools. Want more keep an eye out for mor...
The "tail" (end opposite of the hook end) of the metal shuttle, is used for winding the bobbin. Snap the bobbin onto the tail, then hold the thread end against the body of the shuttle, then wind thread into bobbin.
Thank u for the step by step. I can easily understand
Tip for bobbin: (if it works: it did for me anyways)use the bobbin winder on your sewing machine.
Thank you for taking the time to so carefully explain the mechanics of tatting. I've watched several, and this really helped me the most.

Thank you. I never learned from my Mom and I was afraid I would break the metal shuttle if I forced it to open to remove the bobbin. I had absolutely no clue how I was supposed to load the bobbin with thread. I will have to do a marathon session on your videos on how to Tatt 👍🏼
Awesome! So easy to follow.
Thank you! I just discovered tatting a bit ago and your videos a few days ago. I bought some supplies and watching your videos. Very easy to follow and helpful.😊
