Jerry Holding Eli in 1987 and Eli on drums now.
The buoys played at our all night party at the Mayfair Supper Club in June of 1969 Wyoming Area High School. My best friend and I followed them from the Buoys, Dakota, and the Jerry Kelly Band for the next 35 years or so. They were a super group from the Wyoming Valley, miss them!!
R.I.P. Bill Kelly
Maravilla en el top de los mejores temas sin lugar dudas artista premium que son pocos los que logran estar en esta lista entre ellos Benjamin orrsechesky
WOW, they sound great.
If they re-recorded this with this arrangement, it would instantly be better.
This is not the buoys?
This song makes me hungry...............
Look how much fun everyone is having with the cannibal song! I love it
I saw them play this song for the last time as the Bouy’s at the Stone Balloon in Newark, De. Back in the mid 70’s..
Lol. I SO remember the song
Story goes that Jeffery Dahmer liked this song.
Who’s hungry?
Would be no problem for Killary. Keeps that hot sauce right in her purse and puts that shit on everything!
The group's name is pronounced "Boys". Their lead singer and guitarist, Bill Kelly, is alive and well in Nashville. The group, founded by Bill Kelly and Jerry Hludzik (RIP, from Jeddo Boro, PA) later became Dakota. The song rose to #14 in 1971. Three men were trapped in a mine. Two of the three ate the third, Timothy.
Didn't know about the name change...I always remembered The Bouys and thanks for the heads-up. This is another great classic from the 70s and is up there with other great ballads like Marty Robbins Old El Paso, Dead Mans Curve and Jim Croce, etc.
I met Jerry at with my dad at a country club about 10 years ago. He played this song
Great > But Does Not Approach The Original With The Brass And Violins!
A true Masterpiece!! I know this performance was years ago but it brings back so many memories..
Fantastic version❤ Was it originally written for a movie?
My friend and I karaoked this and our dates looked nervous the rest of the night lol
That wasnt nerves, it was major anticipation!
Where is Rupert Holmes?
They ate Timothy!
Love this song
The lates great Rick Manwiller and Jerry Hludzik ❤❤
They're having so much fun with it, I'd love to have seen them play this live
Kings of Leon copy this group? LoL. But this singer is brilliant. They should've done more, but record labels should have encouraged more songs-- I blame greed for not making these guys bigger. Very nice retro alt feel.
"They're playing the cannibal song! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
Well, I can see that you're runnin' faster, runnin' from some kind of disaster in your heart. They say you're too young to know the feelin', but still your head is reelin' from the pain. Where you gonna run to? Where you gonna hide? Yeah, your momma and daddy don't know you while everybody's tryin' to show you why you're wrong. So you're packing your bags and leavin', you're thinkin' someday you'll get even with them all. Then you're out on your own for the first time. You're lookin' back for the last time, how do you feel? Where you gonna run to? Where you gonna hide? What'll you do just to keep you alive? Where you going to, my runaway? Where you gonna run to? Where you gonna run and hide? Will you find the answers, runaway, in the dark of the night where there's no one to hold your hand? Out in the streets, all alone and feelin' just like you're never goin' home Then it makes you start rememberin' who you are and where you've been, my friend. Then you watch your sweet-talkin' Johnny dance. He'll give you the world just to get in your pants. You think he's in love. Where you gonna run to? Where you gonna hide? What'll you do just to keep you alive? Where you going to, my runaway? Where you gonna run to? Where you gonna run and hide? Will you find the answers, runaway, in the dark of the night where there's no one to hold your hand? Where you going to, my runaway? Where you gonna run to? Where you gonna run and hide? Will you find the answers, runaway, in the dark of the night where there's no one to hold your hand? (In the dark of the night) (In the dark of the night) (In the dark of the night) (In the dark of the night)
MIRACLE
This song is awesome. Luckily, back then, I lived in a city that didn't ban it.
This song helped me to go through some hard times in my life. Still almost crying after “…in the dark of the night where there’s no one to hold your hand”. Tremendous.
One of the best songs of 1971...
I remember the song well but I also remember at the end there was a crunching that sounded like bones being chewed. That seems to be missing now
I just love a song with a bouncy beat about cannibalism.
The sound, the song, the performance.... WOWOWOWOWOWOW! <3
Great song and musicians.
Supposedly the last line of the song was recorded as "God what did I do!!!!", which made it even more ghastly, and it was banned even more.
Where can you get this DVD?
amazing if only the whole thing was available
Simply amazing. Like a dream... pinch me!
Real nice!
Great dakota
Great work !
Thank you, Jerry. Your accomplishments with The Buoys and Dakota are remarkable testimonies to your tremendous talent. You are profoundly missed. Вечная Память!
Tastes like chicken. 🥺😰🤬
They still got it!
can we buy thius?
Yay Eli !!!!!
Damn, any idea how to get in touch with those guys just to show respect? I mean they were an awsome band, bout' 10 years too late...
Call me crazy, but I personally love a good Pina Colada with my human flesh. It pairs nicely.
Hard to believe this band was not better received than it was. great musicians, great singing, great performers, lots of energy. I wonder if the song Timothy put off people because of the theme. Radio did not play their songs much. Too bad.
Back when this came out some people made the case for Timothy being a dog. Never bought that myself. Dog in a mine? A lot of confusion for a dog and not a man. Hate to see a man or dog eaten for survival. but this seems to be a human.
