Linear tracking turntables don't ask the stylus to pivot with the tonearm from a support point. A linear tracking turntable provides the stylus with a consistent placement on a record for the entire "play" of a record.

I have repaired a great deal of vintage cassette decks. This short clip describes my initial steps in repairing a cassette deck that will not work at all. Sometimes this step is all that you need to do. Sometimes you need to do more. In the case of this deck, it was all I needed to do.

Both of these receivers came out during the early 1980's. The difference between the two would be the wattage and the incorporation of LED lights into the newer one. This video will not play any sound.

Is this unit have tuner display lighting? Or is this one burnt out
I have a rebadged Nakamichi 500. Found it in a chain 2nd hand store here in Australia for like $130 and it has literally no scratches or anything on it. You can tell the previous owner took good care of it. Mine has wood grain on the panels and is labeled Thorn DCR1 instead of Nakamichi 500. The tape hiss is almost non existent even with NR turned off. It’s easily my favourite Nakamichi because I prefer the look of the 70’s decks. They remind me of Atari 2600 consoles in terms of their shape and look.
Is this Auto or Semi-Automatic?
what is strange is that this only started to sell in 1979 i have other two from the 1977 catalog and this is the MK II also
My dad bought this combo when I was a very young lad. The family was friends with a someone in Yamaha Canada corp. I believe there was a really good deal for it. I know these dials perfectly. I spent more hours than I can count blasting The Police and Duran Duran and Pink FLoyd and whatever was on the radio on it. I would do anything to be there the moment my step mother got rid of it after my dad died and take it instead of whatever lucky mofo got it from Value Village or whatever.
Cleaning one of these up right now that my dad had kickin around (he uses a fancy marantz with a scope n all) It's only 14" so perfect for my studio apartment
Hello is this for sale
RX 202, 303 and 505. No 101. Luxman RX101 though…🤷♂️
been nice to hear it
I have one of these. Question I have is if there’s anything that can be done to hold the Dolby NR setting through a power cycle. Love the unit, just wish they had preserved that setting through the power cycle. Also very nice that it has an IR remote sensor but a bummer that they didn’t include a remote.
I have one of these playing through HPM 60'S
Just had mine serviced these are nice amplifiers
This one was my first good stereo system. It really sounded good to my high school ears, but like most things I had, I always wanted better. It took a while, but I finally did get better when I got my first component system.
Dude. I might buy it. But it is made in Korea. You should change the title of this video
Thanks
Made in Korea. Says on the back
thanks
You don't know the power/wattage? Have you looked at the back for that information?
Those were very cool in there day. The early 80s' you could see the manufacturers embracing the "new" high-tech look vs the older slide tuners, etc. Very nice unit and thanks for sharing.
digital graphic equalizer !! That's some high tech stuff
Strange location for Mfg and model.
It can boost wattage to speakers connected w a receiver right?
Too bad the analogue vu meters went out of fashion by 1980. They looked really cool.
i have the CEC BA-600 full automatic
This receiver is ending up being the receiver I use more than any others I have.
Excellent integrated amplifier. Thank you for showing it 🎉
Top loaders are way cool
What is the rubber cleaner you use? I inherited a dead Nak RX-202 uni-directional auto-reverse deck. Powers on but nothing moves. I may have a look at the idler before taking it to a repair shop.
I own a reconditioned STA 52B. Great sounds! And you could've powered on the units if only to see them illuminated.
I own this and I purchased it a few years back from a lady for $20 dollars. Looks brand new and antenna is still the original. The best part of this story is I have a picture with my brother from 1985 with me sitting on a bench with that same exact radio.Tell me that's not cool!
If I remember correctly, these were readily available in kit form (as already mentioned) and were often found to be sold in enclosures such as these designed by stereogram manufacturers and suppliers so that the loudspeaker cabinets themselves visually matched with the main stereogram unit, which housed the record player and radio, plus storage for records etc. So these particular enclosures could be unique to a stereogram and therefore have no other markings apart from the manufacturer of the drivers, in this case Wharfedale.
Do you know the difference between this model and the "100" without the "C" They seem pretty much the same...
The C came with a cartridge installed, where the 100 did not. The same convention was used across AKAI turntables.
Ok, makes sense to me now. Thanks for letting me know!
Looks and sounds great
Why low 5min about rx 202 ?
Hello i own a nakamichi bx-125e left and right channels leds show they are working on playback, but connecting to a amp or headphones i only get one speaker working? any ideas, kind regards mike
I have this exact same model I've had it since 1981 I believe I got it in high school can't believe it's only 40 watts per channel cuz this son of a gun really pumped it up and still does volume knob gets a little bit of static
I own a Pioneer SX 1000TD,,,bought while I was in Vietnam 68-69...has been boxed up ..not using it anymore....
Thanks for showing. And nothing wrong with leaving it as it is.
I had this exact receiver in 1972, wish I still had it.
When I used to work at The Good Guys, I set up a system with identical components with crap cord on one set of Energy speakers, and Monster connected to another pair of identical Energys. I would use the switcher to alternate between the two using two identical CDs . EVERY PERSON preferred the Monster compared to the $4.95 speaker cables.
I just LAUGH at this idiots that say lamp cord is just as good as GOOD cables.
I still have mine, it's in perfect shape. I was hoping to find out what the "going price" of them is so I can sell mine.
I grew up with this stereo receiver and his relative turntable from 1974 till 1985 🥲. They sounded Amazing! I still Remember when i was 3 in 1977 and my father came back home and gave me "Out of the Blue" from E.L.O. just bought from the record Store... and i litterally hug that wonderful science-fictional vinyl cover...
They look cool without the sock. I have the 2Ce Vandersteen speakers that I recently picked up. The original owner who sold them to me bought the signature iii Vandersteen’s to replace them. He had them since new. They looked the same. I think they list for 4G nowadays.
Do you know how to change the speeds? I have ELAC miracord 46 i cant put it on the difrent spees
I picked one of these up at a pawn shop for $50. It's really great.
How difficult is it to replace belts?
Not overly complicated. Just take your time and remember how to put it back together. Take lots of photos for reference as you go.
Oh my goodness I love it I love it I love it I love it so much I can't stand it enjoy it oh it's so I got to go I can't stand it❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️💯💯💯💯🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🤝🤝👊😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🥂🌹✌️
I had one in 1971 while in Germany. It was portable though. Wish I still had it.
Hey. Got my hands on one too. But it doesnt start. Any ideas where i can find instructions on how to fix it?
The BSR was a common turntable on stereo systems in those days. Back then we called it a record player. And records are once again the preferred pre recorded method.
Picked one of these up for free on Craigslist, great condition and only the STEREO bulb is out. Looking to replace the caps, excited to see so much info on these, thanks for the video!
