Greer RCI intermittent comunication fault.
มุมมอง 2693 ปีที่แล้ว
Greer 510 RCI upgrade installed in an old Conway-built Terex. The old 500 RCI required a 24v-12v step-down converter to keep from burning out the display. These converters are unneeded with the newer upgraded systems, and are failure prone, causing low supply voltage to the RCI resulting in communication and sensor faults.
Easy method to drain the old fuel out of the system
มุมมอง 33 ปีที่แล้ว
Had roughly a gallon of mystery liquid in the tank and lines from when the car was parked almost 15 years ago. Used an old bottle and engine vacuum to pull all the junk out, and chased with fresh fuel. Safe way to handle potential flammable vapors.
PAT iFlex2 CAN bus intermittent communication errors
มุมมอง 433 ปีที่แล้ว
Scope trace of the CANbus on an iFlex2 sensor bus. Crane has intermittent communication faults and is sensitive to RF interference. Good trace is the bus with all the sensors connected, and the central unit disconnected. Bad trace is when I plug the central unit's bus connector into the hub.

Foggy day to build a crane
มุมมอง 103 ปีที่แล้ว
Operator sent a video of a Manitowoc 21000 asembly from the cab of a Liebherr LTM1500. Looked like a fantastic day to run a crane.

Reman alternator issues on GMK crane
มุมมอง 1573 ปีที่แล้ว
Yet another reman alternator issue on a crane, this time a Grove GMK. A bad engine speed signal from the alternator will cause erratic function operation due to the load control. The crane operating system thinks the engine is stalling so it sheds commanded hydraulic loads.

Full command for boom up, full pilot pressure to ramp the hydraulic pump shown on the gauge, but no boom movement.
Grove EKS4 bad telescope potentiometer

A good example of a failed telescope cylinder length potentiometer. Note the cylinder length displayed in the info window (around 19ft) and the cylinder length percentages (tele 5 at around 50%)

    Thanks for the reply. I as a crane electrician worked on two in Sydney a long time ago. The electrical panel has changed quite a bit if you are correct.

      It certainly has, they went with frequency drives for everything instead of the big toaster oven/resistor box. Still have some of the older ones in the fleet though. A nice spot to warm your hands in the cold months!

      @@smedco Yep, I was horrified when my company bought these two cranes. I thought I’d gone into a time warp back twenty years. The slew worked quite well considering it wasn’t a VSD. The anti back notch needed a sit down in a quiet room to work it out (circuit wise). Sydney never really got cold enough to need to put my back up against the resistance bank. Must be cold where you live.

    Which crane is this?

      Been awhile, I want to say it was a MR 415. Definitely a Potain luffer of some sort though.

    What mounting plate you used for the carb or did you use a different intake instead?

    • @smedco
      @smedco 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just some generic spread bore to square bore, four hole adapter. Kept the cast iron intake to keep the A/C.

    Just found your channel from to the top. Where are you running around? Just and HDR or do you operate as well?

    • @smedco
      @smedco 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Primarily HDR, but do assembly/disassembly, and operate in a service capacity , pulling components and such. Just starting out uploading old work videos, still messing around with youtube and figuring things out. I run out of the Philadelphia region, plus a little bit more. How bout yourself? Since you hit on this vid, any crane repair questions you might have? Cheers, and happy Thanksgiving!

      @@smedco I’m in SoCal. Got into the union as an HDR and the company i worked for asked me to get my Cert to help out. Got in the seat and haven’t looked back. Spent my entire career as a mechanic. But yes as a mechanic you know we can always learn more. I will definitely reach out and ask questions. I post videos but man so much respect for guys that edit and put out quality videos lol I’m waiting for my two boys to get a bit older and make them figure this out
