Do you ever fill the filter housing with fuel before you put the filter back in? I’m a diesel tech also but haven’t done it in years, but I recall filling them up then priming

I’m starting as a diesel mechanic apprentice in 2 weeks after 18 years of doing bodywork. I’m doing it because I want to and because I want to learn as much as I can before I die. I love diesel trucks, so why shouldn’t I learn everything there is to know. It’s going to be humbling going from the go to do everything guy to a beginner and a low man on the totem pole. I’m also working on a career as a pilot at the same time (halfway there). I’m doing it because I want my son to see that you can do anything you want. I’m learning how little chasing money gets you in terms of enjoying life. Your channel and attitude is a good inspiration. Life is a fuckin journey not a destination. Enjoy the ride and make it a good one! You only get one shot!

that's heavy work, your not intimidated by something that you haven't worked on before, takes self confidence. Well done mate, good job.

Pull the pin from the rod end of the cylinder, without disconnecting hydraulic lines. Then start engine and turn steering wheel to the right. The cylinder rod will retract, you don't have to struggle and you don't waste that oil

I have always prefilled my hubs and lubed my bearings before installing the outer bearing. That's how I was taught, but to each his own. Cant count the times I have woke from a dead sleep and cant remember if I installed that castle nut cotter pin on a steer axle. LOL Even have driven back to the shop a time or two to double check.

Ever have a slow leak you cant find? Start with the schrader valves.

Lil tip...while you have your DEF injector out, do a DEF injection test and check your DEF pump pressure. Pump pressure should be around 130. A faulty pump will result in poor atomization causing the injector to stream and fluid to build up in the scr. Could possibly save you a misdiagnosis of a faulty injector. Ask me how I know...lol

For every 100 you do you have to get lucky once in a while. Lol. Seriously, isolator bushings suck. I dont know which I hate worse isolators or one piece clutch brakes

Damn plastic crimped tanks. They keep making them cheaper and cheaper. Nothing built to last anymore, but they keep getting more expensive. Nice crane, certainly saves the ole back.

So right about emissions and a/c work. Been in the trade for 30+ years, now in my mid 50's. I have mostly graduated to emissions work. I love it, doesn't beat me up like clutch jobs and it keeps my mid sharp sharp. Good content. A little constructive criticism.... add a little more descriptive details on the jobs your doing. For instance ...make sure your o-rings aren't twisted, try to time your valve stems 180 degrees when you put your wheels back on, the slack adjuster pauls are removable and might just need to be cleaned. I think a lot of people are using these vids for reference and it might help boost your subs and views. Anyhow, nice video keep it up.
