Is the STEAM DECK Enough...?
A bit of a short one today, but I enjoyed the thought exercise. Do you think you could be satisfied if the Steam Deck was your only gaming option?
Hope you enjoy the video!

Why Every Dad NEEDS a Steam Deck…

The steam deck has been one of the best purchases I have made! I love playing on it! The Steam Deck is a versatile gaming device that can adapt to my habits and my unpredictable routine as a parent! Hope you enjoy the video! SUBSCRIBE!!! #steamdeck #ps5 #gaming
I Sold My PC and Bought a STEAM DECK | Review

After a few months of owning a steam deck, its become clear to me that I love this handheld and it reignited my passion to game. There are many ways I play my steam deck, whether its in handheld mode, or even plugging in a keyboard and mouse to enjoy certain games that work better with those peripherals, and even playing on my TV. Hope you enjoy the video! SUBSCRIBE!!! #steamdeck #ps5 #gaming
It's not underpowered. It's just not a $4K rig that will run Cyberpunk on maxed out settings.
My kid's three and a half months. Im so glad I pulled the trigger on one. He was at the hospital for a month and being able to take my mind off things was a huge blessing. My wife and I were able to play together while we waited for surgeries. Hopefully others find your video!
Who would have thought the bathroom, of all places, would be the place of choice for playing Like a Dragon? Or that a co-sleep bed with the baby would be the place to work through Trepang²? Steamdeck really is the modern day Game Boy, except much more advanced . It helps you sneak in gaming time in those minutes of the day when you would be twiddling your thumbs anyway.
I wish it would support Xbox Game Pass
Me too 🥹
some of ur issues with the ally can be fixed by running bazzite os on it, which arguable makes it better than the steam deck
I believe Linux is a viable alternative to Windows, offering similar ease of use to classic Windows versions. It's interesting that some Windows users who criticize Bill Gates haven't explored open-source alternatives. While certain software like Photoshop isn't Linux-native, there are excellent alternatives available. If you absolutely need specific Windows-only programs, mobile versions often exist as alternatives. I'm passionate about encouraging people to consider open-source options and make mindful choices about their operating systems. Supporting alternatives to major tech companies can help create a more diverse and competitive software ecosystem.
Got a steamdeck a few weeks ago, mostly because the AAA titles on the PS5 where disappointing to me. I don't want a 80$ game that wants 100 hours of "gameplay" from me. Now I buy 10$ games like Slay the Princes, have an existential crisis on the couch with my girlfriend and after that pick another 10$ weird as experience. The time of better and better graphics feels over.
Yep as a new parent you should totally spend your money on silly things like gaming hardware LOL. This is why our world looks the way it does everyone. Cuz new dads are still just teen boys posing as grown men.
With Bitlocker I just used to reboot my Ally but then I read that you can turn it off in the settings. It will decrypt your drive mine took 3hrs no problems since.
Great video, dude! We don't always need the biggest, baddest, most expensive setups to simply have fun~!
Nailed it!
My dad is 65 and not a gamer, but if every dad needs this, should I buy it for him nonetheless?
Haha that’s up to you 😂
Weirdly enough I never bought the steam deck, yet it did effect my use of the PC Especially after seeing people being able to play on Linux, I gave it a go on the PC It's painful when it's not working correctly, but it's amazing what you can do and what control you have over the system I keep thinking, it's a mistake for not waiting for steam deck to be available in my country and going with Xbox ss for it's cheaper price I have also a really shitty laptop (for college as of now), and it's without a GPU. So a machine like the steam deck shouldn't really bother that much, in terms of performance limit I seen a lot of videos on it and I like how people started to look at PC gaming from another perspective The somewhat busy and casual user for the daily tasks they have Nowadays I do some people resaling it, weirdly with windows and I seen how much it works worse with windows and it ain't any practical to use it with it My main problem with Linux nowadays, some mods for old 2000s games wouldn't run or load Something about the memory buffer that some mods use...
Thanks for sharing! Sad the steam deck isnt available in your country
I bought a steam deck while my wofe was pregnant, when my daughter was born i sold it and bought a switch, the steam deck was just too large to carry around with all of my daughters things plus the battery was just not there. Now shes 2, and sleeps thiugh the evenings, i have the time back. But in think i will wait for switch 2 . Great video btw
I hear you dude. I’m in the same boat. I game on my Switch a lot and Miyoo Mini Plus. What’s nice about MM+ is you can one hand it. I can carry my newborn in one arm and play Pokemon Unbound in the other. Also nice for bed at night. I plan on eventually getting a Steam Deck OLED but after I tackle my backlog
I looooove my steam deck. It’s what I always wanted growing up. It’s almost perfect.
This is actually why I love my switch - just being around the kids while they play and I’m on the couch just chillin’. So much better than being tucked away in front of my pc. Exactly like you said.
I had an ally for a week got one game to work returned it. Then ordered a deck oled and haven't looked back 1tb hd by the way same price!!!!
As a dad with a toddler the steam deck and switch have been central to me continuing as a gamer
As a 25 year old husband and father I completely agree with this whole video
Nothing to add, but 100% agree on all points as a Dad of 3. Flexibility, ease of use, and even multiplayer with kids on the TV is perfect.
This was one of the best videos I have seen for the year of 2024 I appreciate your insight and also your opinions on the balance of work and fun with being a father myself❤🙏 I pray you continue to do well in everything you do!
Wow thank you for the very kind comment! 🙏🏽
I agree 👍💯
As a father of 2, 100% agree. Got a LCD a few months ago, got unlucky and kinda fried it.. was just lucky the store repaid the full price and I instantly spent it on a OLED. Its hands down the best gaming experinece ive had in many many years and ive had pretty much every console and regularly upgraded pc.. now everything but the deck is catching dust or for kids 😅
Awesome vid man! I’ve owned a deck for a few months and it’s been an absolute game changer .
Thank you for this video. I was still between the Rog and the SD. You helped me make up my mind!
Glad I could help!
Right on brother! My wife and I are getting ready to welcome our second-born into the world in less than two weeks. Already having the really late sleep schedule means I'll be the one who is up with our newborn, and the steam deck means that i can have her in my arms in the wee hours of the morning when she wakes up and I will have something to do while she falls back to sleep.
That’s awesome brother! Congratulations to you and your wife 🎉
Get the OLED bro! It’s really worth the upgrade!
Got me considering it fr 😂
This is the reason why i buy steamdeck 😁
I am so happy to hear someone talking about this! I've got a toddler with autism, another kid on the way, and 2 jobs. Free time is RARE and PRECIOUS. Steam Deck has helped me fall back in love with gaming. Shout out to all the gamer dads!
You are doing great! Bless you and your family!
This was a well written video and you made a lot of relatable points! As a fellow dad gamer, I subbed right away!
Thank you very much!
I am thinking about getting a steamdeck, just for emulation. I want to play my PS2 games at higher resolutions and frame rates. and there are a lot of PS2 games that I want to go back and play. I have a PS2 that still works, but going from playing games at 4k 60 fps on my Xbox Series X to 480p 30 fps on my PS2 is really hard lol.
Steam deck is an emulation BEAST!
@@B1NHEAD is it worth it for emulation and is it easy to get emulators running on it
@@yokiryuchan7655 ABSOLUTELY!! If you are ONLY getting one to emulate your games, I would consider getting a used one, or waiting until they go on sale on steam. There is an app called EMUDECK that essentially does all the heavy lifting for you. It downloads all the emulators and configures them for you. Just add your LEGALLY acquired roms and bam your ready. Now, to help decide between the LCD and the OLED, I guess it depends how you will be playing it. If you will mainly be playing handheld, the OLED is definitely worth considering. If it’s gonna be docked to a tv or monitor, you can save more money with an LCD Hope this helps!
@@B1NHEAD I don't even know how to add ROMs I read you actually get the rom by ripping it from the actual PS2 disc on your PC is that true?
Great take, I personally perfer using a gaming PC and steam link to a cell phone with a good phone controller. It works perfect even remote play when I'm at a different house. I do have the backbone, a 2 gig fiber connection, 2gig nic card in my PC and wifi 6e. Works perfect for those who want to play while connected to an internet connection. The only downside is always having to be online. So give or take it can be an issue. Steam Deck for the win.
Your title immediately caught my attention. I'm a 74 yr old dad, and my last gaming console was the PS3. I asked my two college grad sons for a Steam for my birthday, last month (I even offer to split the cost, they declined and paid for it themselves). So, now I'm catching on old favorites and games I missed out on, especially with the Deck's emulation capacity. I plan to post some of my new video game adventures on my TH-cam channel. Thanks for the video.
That is so awesome! Keep going young man!
Game on sir!!!! Thank you for sharing. Such a cool story!
Cool kids, cool dad, love it
Man I’ve been plotting on the steamdeck for months now, 9 months into being a new dad and my PS5 is collecting dust. I found myself experiencing exactly how you felt about turning the PC on for just 20 minutes before daddy duties im definitely gonna cop one now seeing this
I'm in the same boat and 100% agree
This is how i feel but with switch. Subbed, good video!
I play steam Deck 2-4 hours per day after work. It breaks my heart because my Steam Deck won't work properly now because of the 200/400 mhz bug. I've heard this also happens to OLED. I'm just planning on getting a Nintendo Switch.
Whoa! I’ve never even heard of that
Listening to the BGM... I feel like swimming under the sea... A donkey or two swimming dodging from enemies... 😊
Ahh yes. Another person of culture 🤵🏽♂️
As a father of two (and one on the way), I’ve been looking for a console where I could balance dad life with gaming. The Steamdeck does look pretty sweet, and it has a lot of pros to it
😂😂😂
I'm 19 I don't have kids. But now I know what to do when I have that life changing moment. Thanks for the good video!!
Spot on. Thanks for sharing! You are not alone in this sentiment.
Exact reason I got a steam deck
Bullshit. My daughter still takes my Steam Deck OLED from me. Children need attention and as much as possible.
Children do need our attention. Life is all about balance
Just subscribed, us smaller content creators gotta stick together
Great video dude
Thank you my man!
The Steam Deck is a game-changer as a dad of five! The sleep mode to instant resume is the killer feature. I am still surprised that a handheld console might be the best console I have ever owned.
I couldn't agree more. I ended up getting an rog Ally I loved it so much I got a steam deck so my son can use it cuz its slightly easier for him to get right into a game.
Totally agree! Let’s face it, the TV is always occupied until kids bed times 😅 Perfect device for quick gaming sessions between dadmin.
DADMIN?!! Love it 😂
Honestly this is a beautiful video, salute

Cause when your daughter takes over your pc to play Roblox. I need a steam deck
Not Roblox 😭 Hahahah that’s awesome!
The contacting M$ for a code, sounds like you were trying to disable bitlocker and something went wrong. I completely agree with you on the frustration. I don’t think bitlocker should be enabled by default. I have both the Ally and a Steam Deck and I am blessed enough to have my desktop. But, having a kid makes it extremely difficult to play at my desktop. Now I can stream from my Deck. And I prefer to Stream to my Deck rather than the Ally, because of the resolution making it more difficult to read small text. Having this pickup and go is great. The whole nap thing, it’s hard to have my SteamDeck or Ally on the go, and usually have a Miyoo Mini for quick pickup and put down. I love my Steam Deck. Completely agree, very dad (who enjoys gaming) should get a Steam Deck.
