I'm not a huge Polyphia fan, but I bought one of these cause I was in the market for a super strat style guitar and the look of it really won me over. I have to say it's my favorite guitar and I've been playing for 15 years. Super nice clean tones and the mini bucker is pretty solid even for some metal stuff which is half of what I usually play. The frets are so smooth and the trem system is so "buttery". Great review, I'm happy to have got one while they were still around.

you get that creaking noise because the trem arm holder is too tight, take the backplate out and loosen the screw on the block where the trem sits

you're not crazy... the nut is my biggest concern. on my boden prog nx, i cover the zero fret when restringing and don't know what you can do for the Essential.

Super common tremolo sound when you spin it! Just apply some grease/ lube to the indented part of the arm and spin it around. Sound will go away immediately! Fantastic review btw! bruh i lost my THBB10 trem arm and it took me forever to replace it. i had to buy a a whole new bridge for it on ebay from indonesia. I actually bought both the THBB10 and the SLM10 to compare them and ended up returning the SLM10. The THBB neck pickup sounds warmer since its a tele style neck pickup while the SLM sounded like a strat but with more output. My main gripe about the guitar is the bridge tuning stability, particularly if i do any dive bombs. it also seems like i need to correct the spring tension in the back about once a month bc of the different environments that i play it in (weekly rehearsal and about twice a month gigs). I also would have preferred a full humbucker like in the SLM rather than the minihumbucker so overall its a 8.5/10 for me. still definitely the best guitar ive played.

Hey ! i love your channel ! just discovered it few weeks ago ! i own a THBB10 and it's absolutly love it ! it's my favorit guitar. ( just to say that mine doesn't have any problem with the arm bar's sound issue that u are talkin about )

The Japanese pro line are way better but the cheaper ones are great for the price. The pro line have better fret boards, pickups and Bigsbys among other things (ie, the way the neck sits on the body). Rocking bar and rolling bar bridges are best with Bigsby, but you want to lube the nut. Cool video. Gretsch has some of the best tone! Chris Cornell played Duo Jets!

Some of those Bigsbys will stay in tune quite well if you replace the bridge with one that has roller saddles or self-lubricated Graphtech saddles. Then add a Graphtec nut, and you might not even need to upgrade the tuners.

There are some good videos showing what to do to stabilize the tuning issues with these guitars, they can be brought into the realm of usable with a bit of work.

Congrats and Happy Birthday! We officially have two of the same guitars now! The Ibanez is pretty much my main guitar and my Strandberg is used for drop tuned songs. Can't go wrong with either!

There is an easy way to keep the bigsby in tune and that is to pass the string over and not under the rod its completely unessential. It was useful on a hollowbody that didn't have a bridge secured to the body but it does nothing but hurt tuning stability on guitars with a fixed bridge.
