Yes Japan is great. I just wish I could receive the R5 II I ordered last month sooner than February. Especially since Canon is located right here in Japan. Nice video.
Thanks, hope you enjoy your R5 II soon! I just posted a big review of the video capabilities on my main cameralabs channel if you're interested
this is a very informative vlog thank you
You're welcome! I've since revisited and still love it!
Thanks for the video. Only one thing that interest me. I am 196 cm tall. How long are the beds?
Hmm, good question, but sorry I don't know the lengthof the beds! My family and I are all under 173cm, so we didn't experience any issues, but I do remember some beds feeling only just long enough. You may need to stay at a western chain or business hotel to guarantee longer beds. I stay in budget places that probably won't suit you.
Thank you
It seems like a very nice budget option!! Happy new year Gordon
Thanks, yes, we got some great rooms! HYN to you too!
Nice! Happy new year Gordon!
Thanks and HYN to you too!
amazng
nice
Hi what month did you visit nikko?
This trip was in February, but I went again in August too
I just put a booking in for this exact hotel a little bit ago! I'm going to japan next week and it'll be my first time out of North America as an adult Very helpful video and I'm much less anxious about my hotel, thank you!!
Glad to help! It's a great room by budget Japan standards, just prepare yourself for it being a lot smaller than US rooms. Travel light!
This is something that could only exist in Japan; in America most Super 8s/Motel 6s etc aren't anywhere as nice haha
Yep, I've stayed in a few of those, red roofs too!
Subbed! 1:21 Love that scene change! 4:00 Careful not to scratch your insteps with that door.. I did it few times before, and it is painful for some days. 9:00 Oddly the power outlet, maybe just me who bothers, most of them doesn't accept extra prong for Grounding contact. (Longer left slit is Neutral, BTW)
Thanks! Yes you're right, you don't always get grounding, which is a bit disturbing! Thanks for subbing, hope you enjoy my other videos, more room tours coming soon!
This train looks like it is going lightning fast, without it even moving.
They are amazing to look at, I love them! And this is one of the slower ones!
What another great video. We dont need much brainstorming for best of travel, just follow your footsteps. Thanks!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
One for the list.... Thanks :)
Hope you enjoy it!
Cool! :)
These travel videos are wonderful! Subscribed and I look forward to watching more. - A long-time fan of your camera reviews :)
Thankyou! I hope you manage to watch a few! More to come soon!
Only 175mph....
Yeah, and that's the slow one! Their current fastest is about 200mph, but as importantly it only makes a few stops.
Hi Gordon! I haven't been to a TJ's in years. I think the nearest one is more than 100 miles away. I remember I always likes their dark chocolate bars and my sons always snagged a bag of licorice bits (bites?). Sometimes they had maple sugar cookies too! Thanks. I look forward to more travel vids.
Thanks! Yes, their chocolate is very good!
Going in a few weeks. Thanks for the tips in this video.
You're welcome! There's also some nice walks behind the main temple to some small waterfalls
Excellent advice! Sadly, I don't know how to ski. ((
There's time!
@@GordonsTravelTips Indeed)
I see - I need a new packing technique for my luggage to be able to live out of my suitcase for a whole trip to Japan. Thank you for the room tour to give an impression what it could look like in a budget hotel.
Yep, and some rooms are even smaller, such as ICI and Toyoko Inn. I like APA...
Thanks for the great video! Visiting Japan for the first time ever in a couple days so the info is much appreciated!
You're very welcome! More Japan videos coming soon!
The Great Pyramid is the Bible in stone. Isaiah 19:19-25
WoW! That's Absolutely Awesome And Breathtaking! I Loved it!
Thank you Gordon - loved ur vid- I will be staying in Asakusa and will be going to NIkko , so this is a perfect vid with a lot of guidance on how to get there and what to do.
You're very welcome! If you have longer in nikko, consider catching the bus to the waterfalls
ayy stumbled upon your channel and recognized you from the camera reviews :) regardless Im planning to visit japan next may for the 2nd time this time for a month, and I feel like I've missed out on so much first time around, never knew nikko even existed before seeing this video in my recommended and it looks absolutely beautiful have to admit.
Glad you found me! I visited Japan >10 times before even hearing about Nikko!
I also recommend a trip to Nikko. Wear some very comfortable shoes and if you don't do a lot of walking, start practicing now. Day trip from Tokyo to Kyoto? I suppose there may a few people that do that, but nobody really recommends that trip because of the length of the round trip, and because Kyoto has so many things to see that even a couple of days isn't enough to comfortably see everything. A similar length trip is Tokyo to Matsushima Bay which is listed as one of the 3 most beautiful locations in Japan. Like the trip to Kyoto, it's a very expensive day trip so probably only feasible if you already have one of the various JR passes. Matsushima is a small town, and you can easily take a boat ride into the bay, explore the waterfront and viewpoints, and visit most of the local attractions all within a day if you get an early start.
Good suggestion!
9:37 "In case of a sneeze... " 😏
Apa are my go to hotels when Im solo in Japan
Do they all look similar to my room in the video? I was impressed with it and would stay again.
Thank you so much for this informative video! I appreciate the attention to detail and also the visual guide on where to go. I have a trip to Japan next year and this is a day trip I hoped could be done in a day. Thank you for showing that it can!
You're very welcome, thanks for watching! You might also enjoy my recent video about the Lucky Cat temple in Tokyo! PS - if you arrive in Nikko earlier than I did, and are thinking of catching the bus, you may want to go further out of town to see the waterfalls. It would become a long day, but if you start earlier, could be worth it.
@@GordonsTravelTips I will definitely check it out and try to go earlier! Thank you!
@@AtharLuna you're welcome, let me know what worked for you, and any further tips once you come back!
Shame I didn’t get to see this place! Looks great! Making me miss Japan so much 😢
Next time Josh!
I stayed at an APA hotel in Shinjuku this past February. Cozy and affordable. My only complaint was that the room was very warm and I could not adjust the temperature. I had to call the front desk to have them lower the room temperature. Front desk was very helpful relocating my luggage as I had it delivered by mistake to another APA hotel in Shinjuku.
Thanks for your comment and for watching! Did your room in Shinjuku look like mine in Akihabara? Interesting that they didn't have a temperature control by the ned like mine did...
Mine was by the desk and it only allowed me to adjust the heat to make the room warmer.
@@giovannidelacruz5165 oh no! I've been in some rooms like that...
My problem would be the steps, because my fobia of heights step inclines are hard for me.
Yes, and the enclosed passage makes it harder too. It is at least only for a short distance, but I did want to share the video to show people what it was like, as I wasn't sure if I would be ok either!
Love this place!
Thanks for inspiring me to go!
wow it's beautiful there! thanks for the video Gordon! Did you shot this using the dji pocket 3 as well? Picture quality is great! Only thing bad about the pocket 3 is the up/down bounce when walking.
Thanks Richard! Yes, this was entirely filmed with the Pocket 3, apart from maybe some ticketing parts with my Galaxy S20 phone. I only had it for a couple of days at that point, so wasn't sure how to use it properly, but I was pleased with the results. The screen is much larger than the previous versions BUT it's still so small everything looks amazing on it and you can become careless with technique, so it's important to still take care with movement and focus. I also now film in 50p so I can half the speed to make things smoother. Overall though, I love this camera for this kind of video!
Nice video Gordon!!! So sad i can't make it to visit this temple
Sorry we couldn't go together, but I hope you can visit next time you're in Tokyo!
Looks like a nice place to visit, especially during the warm green time of the year.
I really enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
I got confused with the B-Roll because I also follow a TH-camr from Japan called Rambalac. He does POV walks much like I do, but in the exact same places you just walked through and hundreds more too. You can always tell it's Japan. In any case, looks like I need to visit the Cat Army Headquarters at some point.
Hope you enjoyed my version too!
@@GordonsTravelTips I certainly did. What were you on for it? Pocket 3?
@@POVwithRC good spot, yep, the Pocket 3 for most of it, albeit with some of the cats filmed with a Lumix full-frame.
I did this exact route yesterday and absolutely loved it-I thought Beehive was fun! Favorite day in Acadia so far
Nice one! For me, it was just the right level, a challenge but not terrifying! Let me know if you do any more good walks there!
Loving your travel content... Excited to watch this new channel grow! If I could offer a suggestions-- knowing your focus (and great skill) in photography, I'd love to see some of your photos interspersed with your travel vlogs. Keep being awesome!
Thankyou, and that's a great idea! I'll include some in my upcoming video about visiting a lucky cat temple...
Nice review Gordon, looks perfect to me and reminds me of Yotel everything you need and nothing you don’t all in a neat little package.
Exactly, although I find the yotels can be quite expensive!
Awesome, You covered it all. Glad I watched this, I will need to remember this place. Mahalos, Gordo!
Thanks for watching! I hope you get a chance to check out some of my other videos here!
It's pronounced "Appa" not "A.P.A." That said, great review!
Thanks! I did wonder about that!
Perfectly serviceable. Is it clean? Check. Is it ergonomic? Mostly check. Does it encourage you to go out and see the sights? Absolutely check.
Yep, it's nice to stay in, but you won't be hanging around too long!
You got a new subscriber! I love my apa room, great value for money and superb location
Thanks! Yes, how did your room compare in a different branch? Was it identical to mine?
@@GordonsTravelTips Mine is quite similar in terms of size and what's in the room. My room has a slightly different layout, room size is actually slightly bigger but I think it really depends on which room you have. But anyway, still way bigger than my previous room in Shibuya (similar price) that I can only open the luggage on my bed. For other viewers, my hotel was Apa Ueno Okachimachi Ekimae Minami. (very important to get the whole name as there are so many APAs even in the same area), it's slightly further from Akihabara but still only a easy 10 mins walk along some main streets.
Different from your regular camera videos but I like it. Well done, looking forward to more videos like this one and safe travels
Thankyou! I hope you get a chance to watch some of my other videos on this channel. it's still really small, but they're fun to make! I will of course still be doing my camera reviews, this is just an extra.
@@GordonsTravelTips sure, I’ll
Watching this from a hotel room just as cozy as this in Tokyo! It’s a fun experience for sure and interesting juggling the space with 2 people
Hah! Thanks for watching! Yeah, it's definitely more of a challenge sharing a room like this with two people - and I've done that in even smaller rooms in Japan too! The bags are the real issue. Well that, and standing up or turning around! But this one was definitely very nice for one!
Interesting culture Japan being a country where space is a luxury so you need to have great design skills in order to give the guest the required amount of stuff/features. I prefer to pack light when I travel as it gets really annoying to carry a heavy bag/backpack after a while, also unless my destination is in the middle of nowhere I can visit the city centre and buy something that I didn't want to bring from home because of weight or size reasons. Keep up the good work!
Thanks as always for watching! Yes, traveling light is the key!
Cozier than a Microtel
Cosier than anywhere else I've stayed! Actually I have been in some smaller rooms here!
LOVE it!
Thanks! Have you stayed in a room like this? Hope you get a chance to see some of my other videos!
@@GordonsTravelTips not yet but I'd be very comfortable in a hotel like this
