Welcome to the Ocean Research Project's channel, where you get to follow our oceanography expeditions in the Arctic and around the World.
Plastic Pollution Discovery Across Chesapeake Bay
18 million people along the Chesapeake Bay are unaware of how big the plastic pollution in the bay has gotten. Woodard & Curran Foundation sponsored the local non-profit Ocean Research Project (ORP) to make their impact, to set sail and address the distribution and abundance of microplastic pollution across 15 environmentally monitored regions. Sailentist, Nicole Trenholm lead the science team, she is motivated for a future where we can monitor and score plastic pollution in future watershed report cards and to help EPA define pollution thresholds and reduction goals. Captain Matthew Rutherford helped her transform the SRV Marie Tharp for optimal microplastic sampling and low-carbon operations under sail. Together they spearheaded the exploration to unravel the truth about severity of bay-wide microplastic pollution while results provoke further questions. Please support their continued work in microplastic pollution monitoring. www.oceanresearchproject.com

Since 2015, Ocean Research Project 501c3 is grateful for the sponsorship with RBR in the ongoing coastal investigation of the Arctic's glaciated coastline. With RBR profiling sensors our team has captured hundreds of observations of the exchange of ocean and fjord water masses, tracing the pathway of warm water currents and observing the biogeochemical response.

If it's in international waters then it's your boat !
DAMN! almost had a really nice salvage!!
jesus being stuck in the ocean without a motor and no wind does not sound fun
I knew some one once who sold his boat an scuba gear. He was up on main mast repairing his main sail line. While the rope came apart and was caught up on the ring. He was looking down while he worked the rope fibers loose from the ring and saw a huge oblong shadow right under the boat whisk four huge fins and a long neck turn over suddenly and disappear into the depths. It was watching him waiting for him to get into the water.
The abandoned 48’ boat was obviously cursed. Be happy you escaped with your lives.
Would have been a great salvage $$$
Esse barco estava destinado a não aportar nunca mais. Quase que adquiriu a desgraça dele para o seu barco. Era de Poseidon.
I don’t know why you wouldn’t just sail the other boat…
Payday salvage!
Fail, guess not...
Good work - thanks!

Salvage rights ?
wow a 3 minute video that tells the whole story, nothing missed and no ads, things you don’t see often
Great story, iam gonna subscribe
It’s the Mary Celeste Jnr 😂 you can claim salvage rights
Why did you not alert authorities immediately after finding this boat? The location in which you found it could potentially be viewed as a crime scene...
I sailed from Puerto Rico to Bermuda , 30 ft boat. Bermuda is not in the Doldrums.
Someone fell overboard? I sailed from Bermuda to the Azores. 16 days. 30 foot boat.
Just goes to show not to abandon your boat, a mistake a lot of people make and then they end up finding the boat in tact without anyone on it.
I wonder what the quality of that diesel fuel was.
That's an F'd up story
Dead Calm II
Don’t leave your boat till it is actually sinking
Excellent video. Nicole was trying hard to hold it in at that scene at the end. I’m truly moved by how much you all care.
Killer work all around I look forward to hearing the addition of Matt in the future.
We need Ben Affleck back onboard for a remake of the Mimi th-cam.com/play/PL9666B29071E188E6.html&si=wgJGLwmR0dkurZHv

why didntt you use the sails on the other ship?
and now that boat is somewhere at the bottom of the ocean.
Harris Kimberly Jones Jeffrey Davis Angela
Why does everyone's engine always breakdown? Did they ever bring the abandoned boat back?
If there’s a dead body on the boat you would smell it before you ever went below deck. It’s that bad
