@@kernered15 thanks for watching!
It’s a fun canyon trail for sure. When we first rode up and saw the old tar sections of the road I thought it might have been an old entrance to the park. After a little research I discovered the road was made for construction of the aqua duck. …and we noticed the temperature difference when we climbed out of the canyon like you. Only problem is the trail is way too short. 😅. Thanks for sharing your ride.
Tiny bit of AZ. history of the Four Peaks: On the Easten side of the Four Peaks range in Gila County is the ruins of old Fort Reno. Named after Brig. General Marcus Albert Reno who served as a Colonel with the 12th. Pennsylvania Calvary during the Civil War. This fort was established July 1868 in what was then called Green Valley. By September 22nd. 5 companies were stationed at Ft. Reno to hold the Apache's in check in Tonto Valley. The Fort's position on the side of the mountain was untenable and could not be defended on three sides from raiding Apache's. The fort was abandoned in 1870. The ruins are still there.
The county line that separates Eastern edge of Maricopa County with the Western boundary of Gila county runs across the summit of all four peaks of the Matazel range, People new to Phoenix or are unfamiliar with the area are unaware that there are ponderosa pine trees in Maricopa county with winter snow on them every year. That would be the summit of El Oso (The Bear) road over the mountain range. The Western face of the Four Peaks are in Maricopa County while the Eastern face of the Peaks are in Gila County. It is also black bear country.
@TerraPruett Good to know! I am scared of bears lol.
Thanks for putting this series together, it was very informative.
@@The_Tactical_Sombrero thanks for watching!
Good series. Thanks for sharing
@kevinsterner9490 thank you for watching!
Congrats - I watched the whole AZ series. I live in Phoenix, and want to do the BDR. I will probably do the bottom half, then the top at a different time. Thanks for the vids.
@@1PHXTHUG thanks for watching! You'll have a great time!
Great series Scotty, enjoyed it. That last section was pretty cruisy.
This just great seeing how much Scotty's riding has progressed...Love these vids!
Thanks for watching my progress.
@@ScottyADV You betcha..keep em coming and God bless!
Congratulations on completing the AZBDR! Your videos and commentary are always so interesting. You're right most of it is big bike friendly with some challenging sections that are optional, however the rock gardens in Section 4 are part of the main route, so good to know that. If you like rocks, the AZBDR is for you!
Thanks for watching. Yes, Section 4 rock gardens were a surprise.
Awesome az bdr series.. Am looking forward to the next bdr that you tackle...
Love your videos man, keep up the good work!
@EricKoch-s5b thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed.
Scott,, what gps are you using for this trip??
@@alanblock3538 hi, I am using the Garmin Zumo XT First Gen. I also use Gaia GPS on the phone for backup and route planning.
Nice video brother!
@@CozyEXP thanks brudda!
I have a problem: When I install the glass and turn the steering wheel, it hits the glass. I also bought air bumpers next to the brakes and clutch and installed them, but the steering wheel does not turn completely because of the glass. Do you have a solution?
You could install bar risers and rotate bars slightly towards the rear. Might help.
Great video and series. I also have a DR, what AS mount exactly do you have installed? Do you have any pros/cons with install and use? Looking forward to your next videos.
It's the adventure spec universal handlebar mount. I like it but you have to make sure you have enough room, especially with barkbusters. On the DR650 is makes getting to the iginition difficult.

Finally someone used a GS for this review! Thanks!
difference between rally raid lvl1 and lvl2?
I believe Level 2 has more travel
You must have come through here on a weekend. I don't think I've ever seen so much traffic on Four Peaks Rd.
@sneakymarco yes it was a Sunday haha. My fault for being a weekend warrior.
Very nice. Good for you!😊
What a cool trip.
Your riding has improved my man!
@DrDanTDC thank you! Appreciate you watching l.
What a crazy adventure, that was entertaining. Glad you got out in one piece, and with memories. Great to get your upload, it’s been a wile!
@@anthonya7066 thank you for watching! The AZBDR was amazing. Can't wait for the next one.
Well done Scottie. Nice to see you again mate. Definitely some pretry sketchy sections. Its natural for fear to bring on sudden feelings of regret. We've all experienced it but you pushed on and will be a better experienced rider for it. The various BDR sections offer a lot of variety and challenges. Thanks for sharing. 👍👌
@darcyh2889 I agree! Thoughts of being stranded filled my head. I laugh at all now thinking about my experience. Thanks for watching.
Odd thing about the DR is it looks better the dirtier it gets.
Another great video, thanks! We rode that section last May with perfect weather, but I bent my front rim and flatted the front tire 20 miles in after you cross Rte 89. Had to ride back out on a tire that kept going flat all the way to Flagstaff. Installed a tube up front and rode that bent rim the rest of the AZBDR to UT. The next section from Cameron to UT is a joy and very beautiful, hope you had better weather for it!! See my Amped Rider TH-cam page for some vid of it. Keep up the great content!!
Great video! Would love to link up with you sometime if you find yourself in the eastern part of the valley!
Arizona is an awesome place to ride. Definitely will let you know if I make it back to AZ. That Kove of yours is sick!
I don't understand having a bike so heavy you can't lift it up.
I thought you would get rid of that front fender bag. Sitting in front of the axle that weight makes for poor front fork handling. I always carry a tarp with me, doesn't take up much room and can be a life saver, in rain, heat, break-downs etc.
@@azlong4596 haha in not that good of a rider to tell the difference. Thanks for watching.
Well done, nice stage, not easy but you did it well, Grand Canyon is amazing, look forward the last stage!
Thanks for watching. Working on stage 6 video now.
Great job. This was a fun video . Probably type 2 fun for you
Yes type 2 fun for me hehe. Thanks for watching.
I was following along in Gaia on my tablet. You rode well given the conditions. Nicely done.
@@The_Tactical_Sombrero thanks for watching! Gaia is an awesome app. Was helpful in finding my bailout point.
Thanks for showing your rides. I always carry a tarp, preset up with cordage attached. Also, something to snack on. I don't care if I'm stuck out a few days, if I get tired or just not into continuing that day, I make camp.
@@SteveHammer-b3k thank you for watching!
I was just on that section on Tuesday. I , like you underestimated the weather. It was very dry and hot. I took the bailout road like you did. Great video capturing your adventure. Keep it up. 👍👍
@jpsadventures9864 weather is no joke! Thanks for watching.
That weather looked brutal! We did it the beginning of May and had perfect weather all the way through thankfully! We had a blast riding through the cinders and pines of section 5, much better than section 4 lol. Looking forward to the Section 6 video!
@DualSportLOL I agree, section 5 was more fun to me than 4. Thanks for watching.
Yo I got a dr 650 and live in southern cali. Looking for a group to tag along on a bdr. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the videos.
@Edmon650 I see some groups organizing on the offcial BDR Facebook groups. The DR650 is perfect for BDRs. I plan on riding the CABDR south again since it's getting cooler.
I was expecting a round of applause when you came across the finish line.
@@AaronShifflettDesign haha me too!
These trails are made for the DR650, the heavier garbage wagons will have trouble without very skilled riders.
I like your tent. I hate tents with crazy colors that aren't natural, I don't like to stand out when camping alone. Can you remember what kind it is?
@@SteveHammer-b3k it is the clostnature 2 person tent. I had it for over 4 years. Good tent.
Hey, I love your videos. I just bought a G310 GS and have been watching a million videos like yours to learn better off-road skills. Even though I’ve been riding for 30 years, I am very apprehensive when riding in the dirt. Were you standing when you dropped the bike in this video? Are you using the stock tires and do you lower your air pressure? I’m just trying to learn!
@@justwondering3241 thanks for watching. Yes I was standing and stock tires. I think too much front brake here on a downhill got me. I leave my tires at street pressure. I am afraid of bending my rim at lower pressures.
Your "accidental time lapse" was actually pretty cool. I liked how you edited that "accident" into a pretty cool part of the video. Well done.
What gps do you have?
@@LuisRamirez-xc9bs its a Garmin Zumo XT. Thanks for watching.
@@ScottyADVhell yeah! Just got my 2023 g310gs and want to do some adventure/camping trips!
What's the stock wheel offset ET number??
Very cool video. Was kinda hoping to see the stars.
That was an awesome ride.
