Hi Ajumma. Another Sohyang reaction. Thanks. As a superfan of hers and a guy, I was delighted to recognize what happened to our girl at the beginning of the American Anthem - so adorable. We Guy fans are always cautiously polite about noting how pretty she is, BUT, this calls for a mention. So . . . when they introduced her, the crowd was quiet, not knowing who she was, but, when the engineers put her image up on the Jumbotron over the stadium, they saw what we were seeing. She was so striking, that the sound engineer deliberately delayed starting the music to leave her image up. It could have been an uncomfortable moment. When the crowd saw her, their appreciation was predictable and began to grow. She couldn't maintain her usual shy demeanor in response to the flattery, and, being a girl after all, her trademark smile finally broke through. As usual, she didn't disappoint. Watch it again. You'll see what I mean. By the way, I missed your series of Sohyang reactions a few months ago, so I must go back and see them. Cheers.

The Clippers had a Korean appreciation night and So Hyang happened to be in the USA so they asked her to sing there. There must have been something similar at the Rangers game. So Hyang jokes about starting the Korean Anthem to high but it didn't stop her.

Very happy to see you reacting to Mamamoo members again! For me the Mamamoo+ subunit has been a huge success artistically. They’ve packed a lot of goodness into a relatively small number of songs, and also got in an Asian concert tour (I wish I could have gone!). They posted some cute videos in the run up to announcing Mamamoo+ and their first song, Better (feat. BIG Naughty). Sort of reality-tv style comedy-drama about the formation and naming of the subunit, auditioning and tormenting their featured artist, and other on-brand delightful nonsense. It’s cute that you translated the title and got “Bad Guy”!!! The official non-Korean title of the song is actually the Spanish translation “Chico Malo” (it’s in the song if you listen for it). Solar in red, Moonbyul in blue, surrounded by the dance crew in white - that’s the South Korean flag!

This is my favorite Mamamoo+ song by far. It's not close to being their latest track, though. Bad Guy was a pre-release single from their 2023 3 song single album Act 1 Scene 1, which featured the title track GGBB (Good Girl Bad Boy). Later last year they followed it up with an EP called Two Rabbits and the title track DangDang. There's a lot to say about Bad Guy. I had fun reading the lyrics, researching some of the traditional references and coming up with theories about what they're up to in the MV and if you're interested and have the time I think it's well worth the effort. You noticed it looks like a play (the album title is a hint). The MV has the feel of a low budget video but it's by design rather than lack of money that it takes place on a single stage with a flexible set and utilizes theatrical conventions like using a frame for a mirror and stepladders to represent cherry trees. They're obviously blending traditional and contemporary elements in the lyrics, music, instrumentation, costumes and props and even in the acting styles they employ, which include the pansori performers as well as Solar and Moonbyul doubling roles in different eras. Moonbyul switches genders and Solar switches acting styles from old school melodramatic gestures when she's the Joseon era woman longing for the departed lover to modern method acting in the mirror scene and when she flips off the bad guy at the end. I think they're trying to make a connection between traditional Pansori and contemporary Kpop as uniquely Korean multi-disciplinary art forms. Imo Bad Guy is the most equal and most successful mix of traditional and contemporary in a kpop song & MV. You mentioned that Solar seems to be playing a kisaeng at times, which was very perceptive. Her longing for the lover who abandoned her reminds me of poems by the famous 16th century kisaeng Hwang Jini, who you may have seen in films or kdramas (my fave is the kdrama featuring Ha Jiwon). Here's an example: Blue mountains speak of my desire, Green waters reflect my Lover's love: The mountains unchanging, The waters flowing by. Sometimes it seems the waters cannot forget me, They part in tears, regretting, running away.

Solar is actually portraying a fox spirit. Tails are represented by the fans of the dancers. This is my favorite of the Mamamoo+ songs.

This is heck of a reaction 🙂 Sweaty forehead and cool chicken are such a lethal combination. This is such an entertaining stage from Sohyang and JK. JK's natural tune in his lower register carries the original tune so fittingly with so much appeal as Sohyang decorated the performance with her vocal dynamics. And she did it with so much gusto. Every time I watch this, a big grin would be fixed to my face. Great reaction!

Hwiseo is the main vocalist of H1-Key. There are four members of H1-Key and they are all tall. H1-Key's Rose Blossom was very popular in Korea. I recommend this song to you.

Hey, I just mentioned this in the other videos. Love this performance. I knew going into it that Sua would do great and I was not disappointed. She did so much vocally in that song between flipping into her head voice for softer sections, the harmonies, and the various ways she attacked the chorus, she proved what makes DC so good. The whole group is stacked with talent. I was not familiar with Hwiseo though and I was really impressed. She's got a beautiful tone and her belts were gorgeous. She's the main vocal of H1-Key so I decided to check out their most recent comeback, Let it Burn, and it was really good. I'll be keeping an eye on them going forward.

2 Rings definitely has a sexy vibe. I can definitely see them using it as a weapon against InSomnia at concerts, lol. If you check out the other Showcase version of 2 Rings, where they're in the white outfits, you'll see them turn that up some. There's a static version of it in 4K that's the best version IMO, as well as fan cams for each member in 4k. Yoohyeon did tell everyone at a concert that she was working on making her butt bigger and to "please look forward to it" so I think the admiration is allowed. They're all tiny, it just usually harder to tell. I often forget that they're these tiny women (compared to me) because they always look so imposing on stage and you never really see them next to people who I would consider "normal sized". I know they have always had a really healthy relationship with food and working out so I don't worry about it to much. They will also get on to each other if they don't eat or skip meals so they do a good job of keeping each other healthy. Gahyun has always struggled the most with her weight based on what they've said in the past but she started doing Pilates a few years back and that's helped her to build strength and stay slim without having to diet. She does look like she's thinner than normal but she's packing some pretty defined abs in some of the concert photos from right after Justice came out so i don't think she's starving herself and is just focusing on being more physically fit. It was Handong who covered for Siyeon in the showcase and she did a phenomenal job! Sua did cover the final high harmony and "justice makes me Fight" line that Siyeon normally does. It actually garnered her a lot of attention because she, the main dancer, was covering the high notes that the main vocal normally does. Supposedly it's one of the things that got her attention to do the Hello82 secret duet that I mentioned on the last video. Every time I see the It's Live performance I get chills at the end when they all start headbanging around Siyeon. It seemed like it caught her off guard and it made her laugh but as someone who comes from a rock background it just feels powerful and fits the song so well.

Its good to see you back! I've been trying to get around to watching this since you dropped it. I hope you get to go see them! I'm going to try to go to the show in Atlanta. Yea I think Jiu's shorter hair definitely changed how she looked some. It, somehow, made her even more attractive which feels like it shouldn't be possible. You've definitely got to check out the MV and the album, it's fantastic. They've also got a few performances that were filmed before Siyeon went on hiatus so she's present for those. The It's Live performance and the DancEAR performance both have her. Also, Sua just did a Secret Duet on the Hello82 channel with Hwiseo from H1-Key. They did a duet of the song Titanium and it's fantastic. Also, Sua's got a solo song coming out in a few days as part of something called My Song, My Story Part 3. It looks like her new song is going to be called 'Feel Alive'

I like your chicken. Most people don't know anything about chickens, but there's a lot more to them than first meets the eye. The first time I saw 2 Rings I thought it meant their earrings since they were all wearing hoop earrings, and Dreamcatcher never wear matching earrings. However, I soon realized it was about motorcycles (Jiu loves motorcycles), but it has another meaning which is obvious when you read the lyrics. I'll leave it there. The trouble with Justice choreo is that they can't hold the high notes while dancing, so it's better without the dancing. The correct spelling is Gahyun. When she joined the company they changed the spelling to get the three 'yeons'. She changed it back while you were gone. Her passport has always had the correct Gahyun spelling on it.
